One of my favorite homes, among the restored houses in the Heritage Hill historical district of Grand Rapids, is this "Stick House." It was built for a lumberman in 1892.
"Stick style" of architecture features steep roofs, elaborate roof brackets, and prominent boards that divide the wooden walls.

The State House of Representatives of Michigan was not in session on the day of our visit. Sometimes I think that we are better off then... .
The four minarets aka the Charminar is a monument situated in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was built in 1591 and is part of emblem of Telangana. It is both historically and religiously significant and as you can see in this picture surrounded by a very popular and busy local market. I only had a short time to visit, and we had a difficult time getting a ride there and back, especially back! No cars wanted to take us for the hr. long trip there. So, we got in an auto rickshaw or tuk-tuk – think 3 guys crammed into the back. After some exploring, we tried to get a ride back, but all our phones either wouldn’t connect or were out of battery – so no Uber option - but finally found a really nice cab driver to drive us back. I wish I had more time to explore here – a constant theme of the last year – I wish I had more time, to explore and photograph, to sleep, to spend with friends and family!
On my way back from India stopped off in the UK for meeting at Oxford U. Had time for an early am walk and a few snaps - the campus is always so beautiful - pictured here The Radcliffe Camera in the early morning blue light.
Recent trip to Mumbai had me stuck in windowless conference rooms and longing to get out for some photography. Had planned to get out on the weekend but alas the weather did not cooperate - with pouring rain from Friday night to Monday morning - just in time for the Monday meetings! I got some writing done at least - posting a shot from my short half day trip to the Taj from last year - in brutal fog that made the drive harrowing but the pics interesting!
Thanks for the visit comment and faves…….

The old gasworks in Hrensko, Czech Republic was built in 1905 for production of acetylene gas.
Because the production process was dangerous and there was the fear that an explosion would cause serious damage to the surrounding area, the building was placed in a narrow rock canyon.
I already posted a landscape format from this building >> HERE
San Millán has a claim to being the birthplace of the Spanish language. The area is Spanish-speaking but some of the local place-names are of Basque origin, and there is evidence that Basque was spoken locally a thousand years ago. The Monastery, pictured herein, houses numerous original books written in "Castizo."
