Previously, the tower was essentially a ruin, but has been recently renovated and opened to the public with a new roof deck that gives unrivalled views over York's historic skyline, with its medieval buildings and famous Minster. Inside, new walkways and staircases have opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries, and immersive soundscapes and stories are bringing the tower’s turbulent history to life like never before.
York Castle is a fortified complex in the city of York, England. It consists of a sequence of castles, prisons, law courts and other buildings, which were built over the last nine centuries on the south side of the River Floss. The medieval Norman castle is commonly referred to as Clifford's Tower.
Built originally on the orders of William I to dominate the former Viking city of Jórvík, the castle suffered a tumultuous early history before developing into a major fortification with extensive water defences. After a major explosion in 1684 rendered the remaining military defences uninhabitable, York Castle continued to be used as a gaol and prison until 1929.

I was able to explore a bit of Durham today as I went around the Art Walk event this afternoon. This city is very fascinating in so many ways, you can find so much history and culture just walking down the street.
Villa La Angostura, Neuquén: An abandoned timber and stone farmhouse stands as a silent sentinel against the backdrop of the rugged, snow-dusted Andean peaks. The structure, characterized by its weathered cedar shingle roof and rustic stonework, exudes a melancholy charm that contrasts with the lush, vibrant verdure of the foreground foliage. Soft, natural light cascades across the mountainside, emphasizing the textures of the aged wood while creating a tranquil, contemplative atmosphere. Deep within the heart of the Seven Lakes Route, the building serves as a poignant reminder of the architectural history preserved within the Patagonian wilderness. The calm, glass-like surface of the surrounding lake mirrors the grandeur of the horizon, grounding the architecture within the expansive natural geometry of the region. As the tall, wild grasses sway gently in the breeze, they frame the home, pulling the viewer into an intimate dialogue with the landscape. The juxtaposition of the man-made remnants and the untamed majesty of the Andes highlights the enduring spirit of early settlers in this remote frontier. Documenting such structures allows researchers and travelers alike to appreciate the evolving human narrative within the dramatic topography of Argentina's southern provinces. Villa La Angostura, Neuquén: Una casa de campo de piedra y madera abandonada se alza como un centinela silencioso frente a los picos andinos, escarpados y cubiertos de nieve. La estructura, caracterizada por su techo de tejuelas de alerce desgastadas y su mampostería rústica, emana un encanto melancólico que contrasta con el verdor exuberante y vibrante del follaje en primer plano.
