Diving along the Cambrian Mountain road to Aberystwyth after a visit to the Elan Valley we came to this very picturesque scene (one of many along this road)....it took us longer than it should to complete our journey after so many stops

When in Scotland this June we did the drive from Cullen to Ullapool and had an over night stay so that I had the time to drive on from Ullapool to the Summer Isles and take our time .25 miles North out of Ullapool and you see the sign for the Summer Isles (A group of islands that sit of the coast with no access but a beautiful sight to see).So we turned left onto the road ,its about 15miles of undulating single track road with many passing places but you do have to careful of oncoming traffic .And I must say it was one of the most beautiful drives I have ever done ,from start to finish .Dramatic mountains and beautiful lochs.the mountain in shot is Cul Beag ,looks wonderful as the shadows of the clouds cross it and it over looks Loch Lurgainn

This traditional Dutch watermill, located in the quiet hamlet of Uppel-Althena, is a beautiful example of 17th-century rural engineering. Once powered by the steady stream of the Althena brook, it played a key role in local agriculture by grinding grain into flour for the surrounding villages. Though no longer in active use, it remains a well-preserved symbol of cultural heritage and craftsmanship, nestled in the peaceful Dutch countryside.

There might have been things I missed

But don't be unkind

It don't mean I'm blind

Perhaps there's a thing or two

I think of lying in bed

I shouldn't have said

But there it is

You see it's all clear

You were meant to be here

From the beginning

Maybe I might have changed

And not been so cruel

Not been such a fool

Whatever was done is done

I just can't recall

It doesn't matter at all

You see it's all clear

You were meant to be here

From the beginning

šŸŽ¶[Captain Kidd (Great Big Sea)] šŸŽ¶

My name is Captain Kidd

As I sailed, as I sailed

Oh my name is Captain Kidd as I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

And God's laws I did forbid

And most wickedly I did as I sailed

My father taught me well

To shun the gates of hell

But against him I rebelled as I sailed

He shoved a bible in my hand

But I left it in the sand

And I pulled away from land

As I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

As I sailed, as I sailed

Oh my name is Captain Kidd as I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

And God's laws I did forbid

And most wickedly I did as I sailed

I murdered William Moore

And I left him in his gore

Twenty leagues away from shore

As I sailed

And being crueler still, the gunner I did kill

All his precious blood did spill

As I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

As I sailed, as I sailed

Oh my name is Captain Kidd as I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

And God's laws I did forbid

And most wickedly I did as I sailed

I was sick and nigh to death

And I vowed at every breath

Oh to walk in wisdom's path

As I sailed

But my repentance lasted not

My vows I soon forgot

Oh damnation is my lot

As I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

As I sailed, as I sailed

Oh my name is Captain Kidd as I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

And God's laws I did forbid

And most wickedly I did as I sailed

To the execution dock

Lay my head upon the block

Laws no more I'll mock as I sail

So take warning here and heed

To shun bad company

Or you'll wind up just like me

As I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

As I sailed, as I sailed

Oh my name is Captain Kidd as I sailed

My name is Captain Kidd

And God's laws I did forbid

And most wickedly I did as I sailed

In the foreground of this image, a lone horse grazes calmly on a patch of green — a soft, living contrast against the rugged, multicolored hills that stretch endlessly into the background. This is the semi-desert region of Udabno, in eastern Georgia, just next to the David Gareja Monastery Complex, one of the country’s most remarkable religious and historical sites. The surreal, layered landscape behind the horse is known for its painted hills, formed by millennia of wind and erosion. Bands of red, ochre, and pale violet clay ripple across the slopes, creating an almost otherworldly backdrop — a place where nature and history meet in silence. These hills are part of the Iori Plateau, which borders Azerbaijan and surrounds the ancient monastery carved into sandstone cliffs. David Gareja, founded in the 6th century by the monk David of Gareji, is not only a spiritual site but a testament to centuries of monastic life in extreme solitude. Monks once lived in rock-cut cells along these hillsides, far from towns and cities, their lives marked by simplicity, reflection, and the harsh beauty of the land. This photo captures that essence beautifully: a moment of stillness, a creature at peace in a vast and timeless terrain — where faith, wilderness, and silence still linger in the wind.

A lone horse grazes peacefully in the foreground, framed by the softly rippling, multicolored hills near the David Gareja Monastery in eastern Georgia. This semi-desert landscape, shaped by centuries of erosion, creates a surreal backdrop of layered earth tones. Just beyond lies the ancient rock-hewn monastery — a place of silence, faith, and deep solitude. The photo captures a rare stillness where nature and history quietly meet.

The castle was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge a soldier of fortune. At the time the castle gave the impression of impregnability but was also a very comfortable home set in beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking the Rother Valley. When I was back there in seminary school

There was a person there

Who put forth the proposition

That you can petition the Lord with prayer

Petition the Lord with prayer

Petition the Lord with prayer

You cannot petition the Lord with prayer!

Can you give me sanctuary

I must find a place to hide

A place for me to hide

Can you find me soft asylum

I can't make it anymore

The Man is at the door

Peppermint, miniskirts, chocolate candy

Champion sax and a girl named Sandy

There's only four ways to get unraveled

One is to sleep and the other is travel, da da

One is a bandit up in the hills

One is to love your neighbor 'til

His wife gets home

Catacombs

Nursery bones

Winter women

Growing stones

Carrying babies

To the river

Streets and shoes

Avenues

Letter writers

Selling news

The monk bought lunch

Ha ha, he bought a little

Yes, he did

Woo!

This is the best part of the trip

This is the trip, the best part

I really like

What'd he say?

Yeah!

Yeah, right!

Pretty good, huh

Huh!

Yeah, I'm proud to be a part of this number

Successful hills are here to stay

Everything must be this way

Gentle streets where people play

Welcome to the Soft Parade

All our lives we sweat and save

Building for a shallow grave

Must be something else we say

Somehow to defend this place

Everything must be this way

Everything must be this way, yeah

The Soft Parade has now begun

Listen to the engines hum

People out to have some fun

A cobra on my left

Leopard on my right, yeah

The deer woman in a silk dress

Girls with beads around their necks

Kiss the hunter of the green vest

Who has wrestled before

With lions in the night

Out of sight!

The lights are getting brighter

The radio is moaning

Calling to the dogs

There are still a few animals

Left out in the yard

But it's getting harder

To describe sailors

To the underfed

Tropic corridor

Tropic treasure

What got us this far

To this mild equator?

We need someone or something new

Something else to get us through, yeah, come on

Calling on the dogs

Calling on the dogs

Oh, it's getting harder

Calling on the dogs

Calling in the dogs

Calling all the dogs

Calling on the gods

You got to meet me

Too late, baby

Slay a few animals

At the crossroads

Too late

All in the yard

But it's getting harder

By the crossroads

You got to meet me

Oh, we're going, we're going great

At the edge of town

Tropic corridor

Tropic treasure

Having a good time

Got to come along

What got us this far

To this mild equator?

Outskirts of the city

You and I

We need someone new

Something new

Something else to get us through

Better bring your gun

Better bring your gun

Tropic corridor

Tropic treasure

We're going to ride and have some fun

When all else fails

We can whip the horse's eyes

And make them sleep

And cry

I love the look and feel of photographs shot on film, and it makes me a bit sad that I can't really afford to do film that much right now; but I found a really nice set of presets for Lightroom (historiclandscape...m-presets-for-lightroom/) that replicate various Ilford black and white films (my favourite so far). This one is replicating Delta 400, and I think so far that's my favourite look - although I have shot with HP5 and I love it, so I'll probably use that one in the near future.

At the time the castle gave the impression of impregnability but was also a very comfortable home set in beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking the Rother Valley. It's located at Bodiam, near Robertsbridge, East Sussex UK.

šŸŽ¶[The Soft Parade (The Doors)] šŸŽ¶

When I was back there in seminary school

There was a person there

Who put forth the proposition

That you can petition the Lord with prayer

Petition the Lord with prayer

Petition the Lord with prayer

You cannot petition the Lord with prayer!

Can you give me sanctuary

I must find a place to hide

A place for me to hide

Can you find me soft asylum

I can't make it anymore

The Man is at the door

Peppermint, miniskirts, chocolate candy

Champion sax and a girl named Sandy

There's only four ways to get unraveled

One is to sleep and the other is travel, da da

One is a bandit up in the hills

One is to love your neighbor 'til

His wife gets home

Catacombs

Nursery bones

Winter women

Growing stones

Carrying babies

To the river

Streets and shoes

Avenues

Letter writers

Selling news

The monk bought lunch

Ha ha, he bought a little

Yes, he did

Woo!

This is the best part of the trip

This is the trip, the best part

I really like

What'd he say?

Yeah!

Yeah, right!

Pretty good, huh

Huh!

Yeah, I'm proud to be a part of this number

Successful hills are here to stay

Everything must be this way

Gentle streets where people play

Welcome to the Soft Parade

All our lives we sweat and save

Building for a shallow grave

Must be something else we say

Somehow to defend this place

Everything must be this way

Everything must be this way, yeah

The Soft Parade has now begun

Listen to the engines hum

People out to have some fun

A cobra on my left

Leopard on my right, yeah

The deer woman in a silk dress

Girls with beads around their necks

Kiss the hunter of the green vest

Who has wrestled before

With lions in the night

Out of sight!

The lights are getting brighter

The radio is moaning

Calling to the dogs

There are still a few animals

Left out in the yard

But it's getting harder

To describe sailors

To the underfed

Tropic corridor

Tropic treasure

What got us this far

To this mild equator?

We need someone or something new

Something else to get us through, yeah, come on

Calling on the dogs

Calling on the dogs

Oh, it's getting harder

Calling on the dogs

Calling in the dogs

Calling all the dogs

Calling on the gods

You got to meet me

Too late, baby

Slay a few animals

At the crossroads

Too late

All in the yard

But it's getting harder

By the crossroads

You got to meet me

Oh, we're going, we're going great

At the edge of town

Tropic corridor

Tropic treasure

Having a good time

Got to come along

What got us this far

To this mild equator?

Outskirts of the city

You and I

We need someone new

Something new

Something else to get us through

Better bring your gun

Better bring your gun

Tropic corridor

Tropic treasure

We're going to ride and have some fun

When all else fails

We can whip the horse's eyes

And make them sleep

And cry
