Hiram Bullock - one of the baddest cats to ever pick up a strat passed away on July 25th. He was a session guitarist - playing with a wide variety of bands and artists during the 1970's. He was the original guitarist on 'Late Night with David Letterman' as a member of the World's Most Dangerous Band. He went on to a fruitful solo career as well as forming the Hiram Bullock Band. From rock to jazz to blues to be-bop, he played it all and was a major influence and inspiration for me and guitarists all over. I've met him, seen him play live and will sorely miss his funky groovy style.

Friends, collaborators, band mates since the 1970's, the late Hiram Bullock and Will Lee performing in New York City's Wagner Park, July, 2007 with the Hiram Bullock Band. Together they were members of the World's Most Dangerous Band, the house band on "Late Night with David Letterman." Will Lee still holds court as bassist on "Late Show with David Letterman." Sadly, Hiram Bullock passed away in July, 2008.

Hiram's cool groovy sound will be sorely missed. Summers in New York City won't be the same without Hiram Bullock concerts in clubs and parks.

I played bass in my high school rock band (like a million other teenage boys). One day our guitarist, who was slightly older and looked like Eric Clapton, passed out while in the middle of the solo on “Mississippi Queen" (he said later that he was “tired"). Immediately, ten girls jumped up onto the stage, stroking, consoling, and otherwise “reviving him". At that precise moment I decided to switch to guitar.
