I relive a nightmare every time I log into Flickr where all my blogs poems street pictures originate.
As a person like many of you I have my likes dislikes preferences and what I shoot is not what I like but I shoot it all the same I shoot culture rituals customs that are part of the crucible of peace in the land I live in India the place of my birth and heritage.
I dont ridicule the people I shoot or insult their ancestry or religiosity and I dont shoot porn or filth, it is not necessary I shoot only what you like , my account is marked SAFE by Flickr management and the buck stops there.
I shoot Shiasm although I am a Shia Muslim but if you are watching my pictures than see them as a part of religious photo journalism.. It matters not whether you like Shia or consider them infidels that is your personal prerogative I wont change.
Be human as I am when I shot these pictures , I am a Muslim but the bulk of my images pay tribute to Hinduism , part of a thread I shoot as photojournalism called Hope and Hindutva a Message of Peace and Humanity.
I shoot Hijras and I have a Hijra Guru though I am a straight heterosexual male
I shoot Hijras the transgender to show you their struggle with a system that treats them as Untouchables.
Now perhaps you who add me as a contact on Flickr have your own views preferences but dont shove it up my reluctant ass.. I am not interested in seeing transgender body parts , how they fuck or how they give head.
Please dont treat me as a Moron , read my Profile for fuck sake before you add me, dont add me without a profile picture or incomplete profile bio data .
I have thus blocked 1700 contacts at Flickr nothing personal but my way of acceptance on my terms.
My Profile you have to read before you Add me as contact on Flickr, I think in this regard Facebook is million light years ahead from a monolithic system of adding contacts or friends at Flickr.
Because of all this as a silent protest seeking change conducive to harmony and peace as blogger whose pictures educate show you the underbelly of life on the edge I have strangled my Flickr comment box forever.
Stop adding me to your Groups I am not interested,,,

HE WALKS BARE FEET..MOCKING AND KISSING THE GROUND WITH HIS FEAT.. THEY SHED TEARS TOO..SOAKED IN BLOOD OF PAIN.
I shoot pictures of pain , as I see pain in the viewfinder of my soul, my poems are my personal thoughts , perhaps they are a bit opinionated.I am not a Mullah or a preacher ,
I give space I don't need to grab attention.
Flickr is where all my posts blogs poems originate..

5 July 2007 Mumbai India
Thanks to Dr BU Pai I start a new series at Flickr.com a series ,very close to my heart the GSB Ganpati King Circle 2009..I have been continuously shooting it since a few years now.
GSB means Gaud Sarawswat Brahmin..one of the finest peace loving community settled in Mumbai from the South, their humility , their love for Lord Ganesha touches every one including this barefeet Muslim blogger from Mumbai..
The GSB community , everyone men women and children leave no stone unturned to make this event a great spiritual success...everybody is doing some community service, as volunteers , feeding the crowds , keeping vigilance in such trying times ,the men dressed in lungis bare bodied move about serving the devotees of Lord Ganesha.. The King of King of King Circle..
I copy lines from their old brochure ...
"Dear Fellow devotee,
It is with great pleasure we inform you about the 55 th Shree Gaaneshotsav Celeberations of our GSB Seva Mandal which will be celebrated at Sri Sukriteendra Nagar , A Rama Nayak Halll grounds behind SNDT Womens college R A Kidwai marg Kings Circle Mumbai 19. from 23 th Aug,2009 till 27 th Aug 2009.
We also have the proud privilege to state that the Shree Ganeshotsav is celebrated by us with unique spiritual and religious focus to insure that all the offerings made to Lord Ganesha reach him in the purity of thoughts and action.
The five days celebration of Seva Mandal is one where all volunteers whole heartedly work day and night right from collection of donations to service towards the Lordand also his devotees thronging the Pandal to pay obeisance to the Lord. The Shrama Daan of our volunteers is truly worth watching at the venue.
The Lords idol stands majestically at height of 17 feet studded with gold ornaments and a beautiful gold crown. When the celebrations were first initiated by Seva Mandal , the Lords idol was 14 inches, .
It exemplifies the stature and glory of our Lord who is also known to fulfil wishes of his ardent devotees. Seva Mandal feels itself fortunate to be blessed by our Dharma Guru His HolinessSudhindra Titha Swamiji , The Mathadipati of Shri Kashi Math Samasthan without which these celebrations could not have scaled to such great heights…
May Lord Ganesha inspire and bless us all."
As Dr BU Pai was at work, he called me this morning to shoot the Lord and a unique ritual called Tolabar where a person is weighed on a scale and his weight equivalent to his offerings , coconuts ladoos, prasadam is presented to Lord Ganesha.
Photography is strictly prohibited , but thanks to the community and the GSB management I am allowed to shoot the Lord that he touches all of you on cyberspace, and these are over 800 pictures shot in a few hours.
Mr Dinesh Pai , Mr Dilip Pai the head honchos, and other volunteers helped me , and were hospitable in all aspects , today was my third fast of Ramzan, and nothing could tire me when it comes to sharing the bounty of Lord Ganesha not just as a religiosity but as my cultural inheritance.. thus continues my mission of Hope and Hindutva as a message of Peace.
As you are aware I shot Lal Bagh Cha Raja on the day of my first fast Aug 23 2009..and his first day in royal court at Lalbagh..
I completed uploading all this at Flickr today.
A incident took place this morning at the GSB Ganesha Pandal which made me cry , I need to share it with all of you, while I was shooting the Lord a youth came to me and thanked me I had never met him before ,so I was quite surprised , he explained to me that due to unavoidable reasons he could not partake in the celebrations of his favorite Lard , last year .
Than he found my GSB pictures on Flickr.com , and attained his spiritual happiness and made his darshan too, , on hearing this I began to cry..
Photography is an instrument of Peace and as a Photo Blog it becomes a means to holistically heal the human soul..
I dedicate this to Hari Shenoy from Bhandup the youth whose eyes went moist seeing me cry, , he gave me a reason to heal myself too..and what is a Hindu or a Muslim ,if he is not touched by the love of humanity..We believe in God so we can believe in ourselves , I too gain a spiritual high as I shoot spirituality where a divinity comes in the form of clay to remind us of our own mortality , he touches and binds us all and than goes away to return again the following year..
Ganesha festival is about our nationality - making us good Indians irrespective of our caste color or creed .
Thank You Lord..

Thank you Mr Dinesh Pai
Thank you Dilip Pai
Above all thank you GSB community.
Today was my first fast of Ramadhan, I was awake all night yesterday ,. as Ramzan is a moment with its own uniqueness..I had spoken to Raju Langewal the Pandal committee member, that I wanted to shoot the Raja , he told me to come by 12 pm...today.
So barefeet I hopped into a cab and reached the pandal at Lalbagh , I was carrying my Bandra Samachar Press Card too..
I shot the Raja extensively , my efforts to shoot on the stage were unfulfilled..but I will some day.
Lalbagh Cha Raja for the Hindus and Ramzan for the Muslims as a Mumbaikar are two heartbeats of a single heart.
The Raja touches everyone, there were Sikhs , Parsis Gujratis all standing for hours in the queues , some had stood all night, some had walked from the suburbs barefeet..but the most enduring were the kids with excitement and smiles on their faces and senior citizens too..
And it had rained generously , but the rains did not dampen the spirits of the lovers of Lalbagh Cha Raja..He is the Ultimate , he is Lord who removes Obstacles , He removes Ignorance , he is the Lord of Sweet Success and Poetic Prosperity.
I have just broken my fast as I write this ..I came home not before shooting Ganesh Gully ka Raja and the Tejukaya Ganesha, also sharing space with Lalbagh Cha Raja within walking distance from each other.
On my way towards Dadar TT..I saw the Dharavi ka Raja patronized by the Tamil migrants of Mumbai, going on a bullock cart , he had already gone a long distant , I jumped out of my cab and ran after him, I shot pictures of him..
So this is my tribute as a blogger to those who cant make it to the Pandal for some reason or the other , they can have a darshan through my pictures shot with a passion and devotion bound to humility.
I also remember my photo guru Prof BW Jatkar who passed away recently ..I hope Lalbagh Cha Raja grants his soul eternal peace ..the Professor was a devotee of the Raja.
This is a part of my series on Hope and Hindutva a message of Peace.

Yes dont look surprised I wore my slippers this time , it was raining and I dont carry an umbrella or a raincoat nor any protection for my camera , I take my chances with nature as I take my chances with God..he loves to be photographed too and he knows all the top guns of photo journalism will be shooting the big Ganpatis at Dadar Juhu, so he beckons this Mumbai blogger to shoot the soul of grassroot divinity.
Divinity that spreads its wings through chants Siya Ram Siya Ram at every street corner ..
Ganesha is the soul and cornerstone of the Marathi Manoos.. Ganesha is Mee Mumbaikar No1.
And guarding him his devotees well wishers fans are the selfless Mumbai Police..
They are their at almost every road that leads towards the beach where Ganpatis is immersed..they are polite considerate above all they are human like you and me..and not monsters as certain section of media and the film industry portrays them to be..
There are bad eggs in every basket so why paint the entire force with a bad brush..
The Mumbai Police is one of the best task force ready at all time and in all emergency ..the government should upgrade their lot , good pay good accommodation , good schooling for their kids.. and make the force the envy of the entire world..
Political dependence has destroyed the very essence of the soul of the Police Man..'
Though they catch me assuming that I am a terrorist though I carry a Press Card , I hold nothing against their security stricture , only that a man who places a bomb would definitely not be dressed like me..
Besides its time the Mumbai Cyber Space cops told their counterparts that Photo bloggers too contribute to the good of society..
Much better than Photo journalists with borrowed cameras and borrowed egos...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goud_Saraswat_Brahmin
Goud (also written as Gowd or Gowda or Gaud) Saraswat Brahmins(Konkani:गौड़ सारस्वत,Kannada:ಗೌಡ ಸಾರಸ್ವತ್,Malayalam:ഗൌഡ് സാരസ്വത്) are primarily a Konkani speaking Hindu Brahmin community in India and a part of the larger Saraswat Brahmin community. They are popularly referred to as GSBs.
The meaning of the word 'Saraswat' has more than one origin. One refers to 'offspring of Saraswati'[citation needed] , the Goddess of learning applied usually to learned and scholarly people. It may also denote the residents of Saraswati river basin. The brahmins of this region who are referred to as 'Saraswats' in Mahabharata and Puranas were learned in Vedic lore[citation needed] . They concentrated on studying subjects like astronomy, metaphysics, medicine and allied subjects and disseminating knowledge[citation needed] .
Due to geo-morphosis in the Himalayas, the Saraswati began to dry up and the Saraswats were forced to migrate to greener pastures. Some went to Kashmir in the north, others went eastwards. Few made their way to the Konkan and Goa. These came to be recognized as Goud Saraswats or Dakshinatya Saraswats, to distinguish them from other Saraswat groups of North.
Lord Parshurama with Saraswati brahmin settlers commanding Lord Varuna to make the seas recede to make the Konkan .
The new immigrants were called 'Goud' because they were followers of Monism or Advaita as preached by Goudapadacharya, who was guru of Govinda Bhagavatpada whose direct disciple was the great Shankaracharya, who resurrected Hinduism or Vedic religion in India. The first math of Saraswats dedicated to the memory of Goudapadacharya was established in Kaivalyapura or Kavale in Goa in the 8th century A.D. To this day, the swamis of Kavale math are known as Goudapadacharyas. Kavale Math is Goud Saraswat Community's Adimath (first math) and three main sub-sects of Dakshinatya Saraswats, viz., Sashtikar (Dorke including Bardeshkars), Shenvis (Karbharis), and Chitrapur Saraswats (Bhanaps) were all known as Goud Saraswats or Konkani Brahmins till three-hundred years ago. Other Saraswat subsects include Kudladeskars, Pednekars, Rajapur Saraswat Brahmins and Balavalikars.
In the 13th century, Dwaita (Vaishnava) philosophy advocated by Madhvacharya became popular and many Saraswats adopted vaishnavism. They continued to worship the deities they brought with them from the North. These were 'Mahan Girish' or Mangueshi, Shakti or Shanta durga, Vishnu, Ganesh and Surya. They form the 'Panchayatan' or five deities, sacred to all Saraswats.
Goud Saraswats were in all the kingdoms of the western coast under different dynasties right from 6th century A.D. Kadamba, Rashtrakuta, Hoysala, Chalukya Shilahara and Vijayanagara kings had given important posts to Saraswats. There were admirals, treasurers, ambassadors, army chiefs and foreign language-interpreters among them. They were famous traders, who conducted maritime trade with Eastern and Western countries of the contemporary world. The spoken language of Saraswats is Konkani.
The Portuguese traders followed by Christian missionaries. Forcible conversions began to take place under the patronage of Portuguese government in 1560 A.D. Most of the Saraswat families left Goa with their family deities, risking life and limb. They settled down in the adjoining Hindu principalities. New temples came up in the coastal districts of Karnataka for Saraswat deities. When conditions improved in Goa and forcible conversions stopped, the idols were taken back to newly constructed temples in Goa. They are not in the original ancient spots, where churches were built, destroying earlier temples. Many people migrated to Kerala and built temples mainly dedicated to Vishnu and his different avatars. Kashi Math at Kochi came up in 1560 A.D. and at Bhatkal in 1540 A.D. This was shifted to Gokarn hence known as Gokarn Jeevottama Partakali Math to include the name of famous Saint-Pontiff by the name Jeevottam of the Math stationed at Partakal or Partakali, Goa. Finally, this Math was established at Canacona in Goa. All the Vaishnav Saraswats are Kulavis (followers) of either Kashi Math or Gokarn Math. 'Smarth' Saraswats owe allegiance to either Kavale Math or Chitrapur Math.
Saraswats continued to hold important posts under Keladi or Nagar rulers. Many families who emigrated from Goa settled down in smaller towns and villages in Shimoga, South and North Kanara Districts. Saraswats were the first beneficiaries of English education introduced in 1840 A.D

I continue with the next lot of the Lalbagh Cha Raja pictures this is a very lengthy series I shot it with a fervor I have perhaps never felt before that the Lalbagh Cha Raja beckons a Muslim blogger into his fold speaks volumes of the greatness of the indisputable King of Mumbai , he makes doors open for me , he opens avenues for me and I shot him from every given space except the stage..
It was my first fast of Ramzan..and it began on a note of Hindu- Muslim amity in Mumbai..
Thanks to Raju Langewal , Mr Satish Khankar ,Balasaheb Kamble Sunil Joshi, and others I am a recognized face, they remember me very well, these are the people that opened my fast at Byculla last year, they took care of me and this shows the humility of the devotees of Lalbagh Cha Raja ..
Media that has the front seat never faces what I face I see what others dont see I see with his eyes and this is my greatest tribute to all lovers of Lalbagh Cha Raja in Mumbai and everywhere else..
And I hope that the Pandal people read this as there is a Maharashtrian lady whose last wish before she dies is to pay darshan to to her Lord , she had requested my daughter Samiya to convey this to me , she is her old college professors wife..
I could not take her , you can fully understand but I am sure she will get a chance ..I will speak to Raju Langewal on humanitarian grounds, she is too weak and of poor health to endure the process of entry.

God will keep us alive
By: Varun Singh Date: 2009-08-25 Place: Mumbai
Foolhardy ganpati mandals spurn protective masks saying havans and aartis will keep temperatures high enough to kill swine flu virus. (and, of course, there's god and prayers)
Religion, Karl Marx famously said, is the opiate of the masses and in Mumbai it has certainly drugged devotees into being foolhardy.
Committee members of the GSB Mandal, King's Circle and Lalbaugcha Raja have complete faith that the lord will protect them and every single devotee against swine flu.
This means, nobody wears protective masks. And it's not just faith they say, but scientific rationale.
Said Trupti Prabhu, committee member of the GSB Mandal, "Our in-house doctor has told the organising committee that there is no need to panic as the virus dies in high temperatures.
We will hold an aarti and a havan 24X7 for all the five days the Lord is with us. The heat generated by these will not allow the virus to spread."
The doctor in question, Dr Bhujang Pai is also convener of GSB mandal. "It has been noted that the virus spreads in cool temperatures, which is why Pune has been affected.
In the pandal, there are going to be regular havans and artis, due to which, the temperature within, will be on the higher side.
It will certainly be above the body temperature [98.6ÃÂðF or 37ÃÂðC] and will therefore prevent the spread of the virus," said Pai, who is the chief of the radiology department at a private hospital.
He added the mandal would not be using ACs or coolers, as the temperature will then be lowered.
We haven't measured the temperature in the pandal, but what makes our claim strong is that till now not a single person has come to the pandal wearing a mask or has covered his face," he said.
However, other doctors slammed this step. "As per literature documenting swine flu, the virus gets killed at a temperature usually above 70 degree celcius.
At a body temperature of 37 degree celcius (98.6ÃÂðF) it propagates faster, and if the temperature is higher, it will still propagate, but at a slower rate," said Dr Jalil Parkar, respiratory physician.
Yet, Pai maintains the mandal has done nothing "major" to contend with swine flu. "A day before Ganesh Chaturthi, the chief priest and I prayed to Ganesha to take care of the devotees.
We are sure that the virus will not affect anyone visiting the pandal," he said calmly. The GSB mandal had three lakh devotees last year, and this year, they expect at least four lakh visitors.
The, 'God will save us' ideology also works for Lalbaugcha Raja, which had nearly three crore visitors last year.
This reporter spotted visitors, organisers, shopkeepers and even on-duty cops at the pandal without masks or any kind of face cover.
Satish Khankar, president of the mandal said, "We are not worried about swine flu. The panic is created entirely by the media.
It will not affect devotees and in fact, I have been praying to God to keep the disease out of Mumbai." Khankar and committee members had prayed on the first day to keep the virus away from the pandal and the devotees.
"We aren't wearing a mask or even covering our faces because we are sure Bappa will save us," said Abhijit Phalke, a committee member.
Since morning I latched myself with a Dahi Handi battalion called Ganeshotsav Mandal Talwadi Mazgaon, I was with them at various places where they broke the Dahi Handi..
The last one was at Thane of TMC Corporator Mr Pratap Sarnaik..
Here they broke the World Record by creating a 9 tier human pyramid..
Mr Bal Nandgaonkar MLA and Mr Yeshwant Jadhav Corporator of Mazgaon, gave ample support to their Mazgaon lads at each juncture..
I left as I wanted to post these pictures, in the rush lost my wallet too, but it was worth the effort..

This evening I was invited to the GSB Seva Mandal Kings Circle by Mr Dinesh Pai and Dr Bhujang Pai so I reached the venue barefeet at 7pm and shot extensively till 11 pm..
I returned home past midnight ..The added attraction at the Lords darbar this evening was Mr Raj Thackeray with his family relatives and friends , the head priest gave Mr Raj Thackeray some good advice as he said both Raj and Uddhav are the two eyes of Hope and Hindutva,,
He said all this is good faith and as he is a senior religious head Mr Raj Thackeray listened to his words silently and with deep respect , after making his offerings and receiving the prasadam Mr Raj Thackeray and his entourage left I had shot a complete series .
I shot the Arti and a puja , three more pujas had to be performed I left too because of my diabetic condition..
I think this year as all the volunteers knew me because of my earlier GSB pictures at Flickr they were very cooperative and the GSB devotees are here from all walks of life dedicating their lives in Bhakti service to the Lord of the Lords and the King of Kings GSB Lord Ganesha.
Men women and children all working for the Great Lord in humility..
But I must pay tribute to a very young child about 6 years old who was working on the stage giving the devotees the prasad bags with a photo frame of the Lord ..this child was the godliness of the Lord humanized and personified.
His name is Prithvi Bhatt... This post is dedicated to him he touched me in such a way that I was reminded of my two and a half year old grand daughter Marziya Shakir a street photographer who shoots with me on the Nikon D 80 and presently away at her maternal grand parents house in Lucknow.
Yes children are true human souls of God,,our future our present our past,.
And this might be my longest series I shot a lot...sometimes with my eyes and sometimes with yours.
Soon after the fast , all the Muslim kids from nearby tenements , chawls slums, come to Ashish Shelars Ganpati pandal for games like housy and enjoy themselves , they win prizes too.
Keeping respect for Ramzan Ashish Shelr has his arti after Tarabi.. a thought that has endeared him to all, Ashish Bhai as we all call him gives respect to the spirtual sentiments of the peoples religiosity..
Though he represents the BJP Party , though in an area dominated by Muslim slums, nobody can ever accuse Asish Shelar of playing with the religious emotions of the people of this area called Bandra Reclamation..
I have a great respect for the humility of this grass root stalwart of life..So his pandal I shot much before it was ready, I shot his pandal as it was built from scratch.. it gave me a lot of joy...and I can see it from my house window too..
He his wife and their son Omkar are part of everyone's life in Bandra.
Very helpful kind considerate down to earth photo journalist , and works silently grabbing the best of shots and watching him work was no less than a lesson in photography.
A very pleasing endearing human being.. Anil Shinde eminent photo journalist of Times of India publications.
Beyond 2020
The attainment of a developed status by 2020 does not mean that we can then
rest on our laurels. It is an endless pursuit of well being for all our people. Our vision of a developed nation integrates this element of time within it as well. Only people with many embodied skills and knowledge and with ignited minds can be ready for such a long term vision. We believe that it is possible to develop our people to reach such a state, provided we can follow a steady path and make available to the people the benefits of change all through their lives. They should see their lives and those of others improving in actual terms, and not merely in statistical tables.

This ended my series of the 7 day of Ganesh Visarjan... I amnot voyeuristic by nature but could not resist shooting these damsels caught in the traffic snarl of life..
