Hillary Clinton - Tribute
The Hillary Harbour Lighthouse which a long historical connection in that that the lantern house which forms the top section of the lighthouse is from the Bedout Island light. Bedouin Island which is 53 nautical miles north-east of Port Hedland had its light tower commissioned on December 13, 1909 and subsequently de-commissioned in 1980 when the original light was demolished and replaced with a stainless steel lattice tower and a new navigation light.
Hence the original lantern house from Bedout Island is now in the Hillary Harbour Lighthouse.
The Hilary Harbour Lighthouse was commissioned on December 22, 1989. It is a sectored light, 24 metres above sea level and has a nominal range of 12 nautical miles.

She's an actress, or should be. There seems to be no limit to the expressions, the aura she can create.

Sir Edmund Percival Hillary, KG, ONZ, KBE (20 July 1919 – 11 January 2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist. On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed as having reached the summit of Mount Everest. They were part of the ninth British expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt. Hillary was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
Hillary became interested in mountaineering while in secondary school, making his first major climb in 1939, reaching the summit of Mount Ollivier. He served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a navigator during World War II. Prior to the 1953 Everest expedition, Hillary had been part of the British reconnaissance expedition to the mountain in 1951, as well as an unsuccessful attempt to climb Cho Oyu in 1952. As part of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition he reached the South Pole overland in 1958. Subsequently, he also travelled to the North Pole.
Following his ascent of Everest, Hillary devoted most of his life to helping the Sherpa people of Nepal through the Himalayan Trust, which he founded. Through his efforts, many schools and hospitals were built in Nepal.
A bronze cenotaph, with a relief of a lifeboat on the stormy sea, commemorating Sir William Hillary, founder of the RNLI and men who perished at sea.

We’d been walking through Newtown for a good 3-4 hours when we decided to sit down and have a short break at a café and normally this instantly invokes a suitable stranger to walk by usually just as we are being served. I was lucky enough to spy this gorgeous 50,s retro starlet walking straight past us accompanied by her partner. Without hesitation I stopped them and explained my request. We moved to a side street to find an appropriate background leaving the rest of the crew (except Neil who joined us) at the café.
Hillary’s style, grace and elegance ticked all the boxes for me.
She was quietly spoken and a little shy but was still keen to have her photo taken and worked with me flawlessly as I instructed her through a short series of poses hoping to make the most of this great opportunity. Her partner, Mitch was warm and friendly and stood by watching with pride as we shot away.
Both Hillary and Mitch hail from Newcastle (north of Sydney) and were down in Newtown doing some shopping. Mitch leads a band called “Mitch and the Wise Guys” and he recently auditioned and won the role to play Michael Buble in a one man touring show.
I’m now kicking myself for not getting a shot of Mitch or both of them together. Arrgh!
Another tough decision on which shot to post here as there are so many keepers, but I think the one I selected really shows her amazing style and poise.
