A slightly different perspective onto the famous Langkofel Group, a massif in the Dolomites of the Italian Alps. It is one of the many hiking routes of the 56 square km of the Seiser Alm. I really liked this perspective, because the goal is clearly in sight.

This itinerary crosses one of the highest and most important areas of northern Spain, exhibiting panoramas over emblematic peaks such as Torre Cerredo and Naranjo de Bulnes. The landscape, punctuated by rocky outcrops and alpine vegetation, is home to a rich biodiversity, with habitats such as Vega de Liordes supporting species such as the brown bear, the wolf and the chamois. The route also reveals traces of the old mining activity, a testimony of human history in this region of singular beauty.
The ‘Puente del Zardo’ is a wooden bridge located in the Picos de Europa, near Poncebos, which serves as a crucial crossing point on the walking route between Bulnes and Poncebos. This structure allows hikers to cross a tributary of the Cares River and is part of a trail system connecting isolated villages in the mountainous region, making it essential for access to Bulnes, a remote location only accessible on foot or by funicular. The bridge is located in a glacial valley, surrounded by rocky slopes and typical Atlantic vegetation, attracting those who explore the well-known Cares Gorge.
Regrettably, this is not a recent image. It was taken March 27, 2010 during the volcanic eruption of Fimmvörðuháls which later triggered the more powerful eruption of Eyjafjallajökull.
The new twin craters here were later named Magni and Móði. Here they are being born.
Þórsmörk is a mountain ridge in Iceland that was named after the Norse god Thor (Þórr). It's in the south of Iceland, next to Eyjafjallajökull.
A lot of different tours are possible, from hiking on the glaciers to trekking (i.e., Laugavegur up to Landmannalaugar) or smaller excursions, such as to the canyon Stakkholtsgjá with its waterfall or five small day treks, to the summits of surrounding peaks, with rewarding views.
The Smardale Gill viaduct, near Smardale, a small village in Cumbria, England, was designed by Sir Thomas Bouch for the South Durham and Lancashire Union Railway and the construction contracted to Mr Wrigg, costing £11,928 to build. The bridge, which was built of local stone has 14 arches, and is 90 ft (27 m) high and 550 ft (170 m) long. It was single tracked despite being wide enough for a double line. It was completed in 1861.
After the line closed in 1962 the viaduct fell into disrepair, by the 1980s the structure had become dangerous and was to be demolished. Instead the viaduct became a listed building, and British Rail offered £230,000 (the estimated cost of demolition) towards its restoration. A charitable trust, the Northern Viaduct Trust was formed in 1989. The cost of repairs was £350,000 which included masonry repair, a new deck and waterproofing, and structural work to the viaduct. In 1992 the restoration was complete, the viaduct being subsequently used for pedestrian access to Smardale Gill nature reserve.
In 2010 after a harsh winter it was found that the viaduct had frost damage and required a further £30,000 of repairs.
The road F35 has some really nice surprises for hikers. These are the rhyolite mountains of Kerlingarfjöll, near Hveravellir.
During the 18th century an outlaw named Fjalla-Eyvindur and his wife stayed warm here for 20 years. He stole sheep from pastures to eat.

Kerlingarfjöll 1,477 m (4,846 ft) is a volcanic mountain range located in the Highlands of Iceland near the Kjölur F35 road. There are numerous hot springs and rivulets in the area. And indeed, they are part of a large volcano system of 100 km2 (39 sq mi). The volcanoes of the range are tuyas.
The earth is shimmering red in this area because of the volcanic rhyolite stone the mountains are composed of. Minerals that have emerged from the hot springs also color the ground yellow, red and green.

The Laugavegur is a famous 55 km trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar in the highlands to the glacial valley of Thorsmork.
It is one of the most popular and most travelled hiking trails in the Icelandic wilderness, and the route is possible from mid June to mid September. This image was taken in July.

Having a guide opens up several travel possibilities that most people can't even imagine and new places to discover.
The falls plummet 120 m into a colorful brown-and-red-striped gorge.
It’s a steep climb in places but flattens out as you enter the canyon. The walk is 2.5 km each way; halfway up is a smaller waterfall, Litlanesfoss.
The stripes are made by volcanic minerals that became clay. The iron in it oxides, giving the red color to the strata patters. The thicker layers are basaltic lava.

And again:
If you ever come to visit that place, don't just go to the fortress.
Explore the hiking routes and you'll see much more amazing views - for free, without the crowds of tourists. Even if the hiking routes are not always marked properly, it's worth a while! Start in the morning and just pick good shoes, some water and food - you'll be equipped for getting lost and found - and getting lost is not a drama, the area is not so huge! =)
The highlands of Landmannalaugar are a superb example of mind-blowing landscapes.
The environment is literally a wonderland. The rich colours of the mountains surrounding the area and the outstanding contrasts appearing in the raven-black and glittering rhyolite lava fields, are truly amazing. And it's of course a hiker's paradise :)
