we talked for an hour about surfing and birds. when i mentioned that even seeing a jackrabbit out there was rare, he told me that the people that lived in my house before me had two hound dogs that took care of any non-winged creatures long ago. they were slowly making their way back.
the whole time we spoke i kept my eye on the red-tail for any sign that she might chase something else that caught her eye. her coloring is curious - the speckling is a mark of a juvenile, but i swear to you, she was fucking huge.
(i have since changed the gender in this little story to 'she', as a bird-serious friend told me that only the females get that big.)
One of the scuptures on campus this was made with my pinhole camera which I built out of an amunition box.

These are the swings in Crick, the village where I grew up. I think the swings have been replaced since I probably sat on them and there was some new equipment. Eleanor had an absolutely great time. SHe really loved every minute of it. I don't have really and photos of her in focus on the swing as she was always throwing her head back or laughing or doing something I didn't want her too. Presented in black and white as the white balance is all wrong in colour and my husband looks a little on the blue side. I think this makes it a sharper image anyway.
