Got this in some Midtown department store specifically for a 9th grade dance. The dance was held at the Plaza Hotel, ooh how fancy! Anyway, I danced with some cute boy, we exchanged numbers, I put his number in my mary-janes (for a lack of purse!), and it fell out. I was so devastated. But at least this dress still fits. Again, thank you lords for the bias cut. This dress has since been worn to prom-themed parties.

Pros: great velvet floral fabric, still fits.

Cons: A bit short (I'm so paranoid!)

Sentimentality factor: high.

My 16 year old son Cameron on his first big date.

Another high school dance dress! I may have actually gotten this the same day as the Exchanged-#s-with-a-Boy" Dress. I've filled it out a bit, but it still fits! The dress definitely works its way into my outfits. But the sequins shed like crazy! I'm sure Katie remembers.

Pros: Disco never died with this dress.

Cons: the sequins come off like so much cat hair.

Sentimentality factor: high.

My beautiful daughter is just a natural as my model but then, she has been doing it since birth. I am amazed how fast she has grown and at 17, just graduated from high school. Her she is dressed up for the Senior Prom. Love this Girl!!! May 2025

High school prom 1985. The junior class (my class) was responsible for organizing the entire thing. Our class sponsors (a couple teachers) were nervous about our theme. For those of you who remember, it was based on a popular song back in the day by Morris Day and the Time.

Things turned out great. I liked her dress and my tails.

Another high school dance dress. The underpart is red satin, and the overpart is seethru black. On its own the dress is a bore, but I've been known to throw together a sassy outfit with an embroidered vest, my Georgian wool socks and a nomadic necklace. Other than that it never gets worn.

Pros: pairs well with other things.

Cons: boring otherwise, fabric kinda cheap.

Sentimentality factor: moderate.
