Two domed millstones flank the path from Over Owler Tor to Winyard's Nick and Higger Tor.

Another (there are more!!) from Sunday afternoon up on Burbage Edge.

Whilst I was waiting for the sun to reappear, I'd noticed this ice that hadn't melted due to being in the shadows and thought there might be a shot to be had. Portrait seemed the way to go for this.

Advenures in Ouzeling - Higger Tor 07052021

Not the most striking sunrise I've seen on Higger Tor. Fortunately, I got a couple of blasts of light and a bit of colour at dawn to make it worth while!

On Higger Tor near Hathersage

A short time-lapse video that I have made from some shots that I took of Mercury yesterday evening.

Sunset on Higger Tor, Peak District, Derbyshire, UK.

Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-105mm lens.

Sunday morning up on Higger Tor. A light dusting of snow meant it looked as if winter was on it's way back again.

A small window of light under the heavy cloud allowed a few images to be caught. Like the light catching these small posts and the stone.

A bonus was bumping into Andy Hemingway (andy_AHG), who I've known (virtually) for a while now. Good to finally put a face to a username.

Dawn view from the heather clad slopes of Higger Tor, towards Hathersage, cloaked in morning mists.

my trip to higger tor was worth it for this spectecular sunrise ,i nearly went back to bed as it was raining at home and all the way on my hour long drive but once i hit the foggy hope valley the rain stopped and i got my reward .

In the valley in the mist is the ancient 5thcent bc hill fort of carl wark.

View of Hathersage Moor and the Hope Valley from Higger Tor. This is a panorama composed of four portrait shots. Taken back in August when the heather was in full bloom, by Laura.

A wonderful walk over Hathersage Moor to Higger Tor on Wednesday. In the distance is The Carl Walk Iron Age Hill Fort, photographed from the the rocky edge of Higger Tor.

The moorland was looking particularly beautiful, a blanket of lush bracken and flowering heather rising abruptly to the rocky outcrops of Higger Tor.

Just made the sunset tonight which had a little less cloud then when i last visited this spot. Might have got there a tad too late. In the distance, from the left, Over Owler Tor, Carl Wark, Higger Tor and you can just about see Stanage Edge.

First light hits Higger Tor, from the millstone quarries on Burbage Edge.

A very cold day gave me the place to myself

A short walk from the Longshaw Lodge car park in the Gritstone part of the Peak District.

South from the car park then through a wooded section down towards Grindleford station.

From there, up through Yarncliff wood overlooking Padley Gorge, and following the path, crossing the Burbage Brook and continuing up the western side. At the top of the gorge a path back to the lodge car park is on the other side of the road.

I had intended a longer walk to include the ascent of Carl Wark hill fort, but the increasing air temperature made me take the shorter option. I'll try to do the longer walk when the heather is out. (Maybe even include Higger Tor if I have the energy).

Nicely composed. It wasn't actually set up, it was just how they suddenly were, and I was able to snap it before they knew I had taken it.

Higger Tor in the background (left) and Carl Wark foreground (right).

The Longshaw Estate, which is made up of open moorland, woodland and farms, provides excellent walking country, with dramatic views over the Derwent Valley. The estate is owned and managed by the National Trust.
