….se d’amor si muore
.
…questa sera
nei silenzi della notte
il mio pensiero è rapito da te.
…ti prego
dammi la tua mano…
e non lasciarmi andare
il mio ardito amore
la tua anima
è venuto ad accarezzare,
impetuoso e un po’…titubante
nessun angelo ti potrà salvare.
E’ forse…
il nostro profondo segreto!
oppure è…
il mio semplice cuore
non aver paura
di nulla devi temere
perché t’amo e tu
non mi potrai più dimenticare.
I tuoi baci
son venuto a rubare.
Ma è quasi l’alba…
e…questa solitudine immensa
del tutto mi appartiene
ora, nella mia mente, lei è mia…
dorme sul mio cuore e
mai più mi potrà lasciare
….se d’amor si muore
…l’anima mia è già volata via.

...if you die of love
.
…this evening
in the silence of the night
my thought is kidnapped by you.
… please you
give me your hand…
and don't let me go
my daring love
your soul
came to caress,
impetuous and a little...hesitant
no angel can save you.
And maybe…
our deep secret!
or is it ...
my simple heart
do not be afraid
you have to fear nothing
because I love you and you
you will never be able to forget me.
Your kisses
I have come to steal.
But it's almost dawn ...
and ... this immense solitude
it all belongs to me
now, in my mind, she is mine ...
sleeps on my heart and
she will never leave me again
...if you die of love
...my soul has already flown away.

Brambling / fringilla montifringilla. Calke Park, Derbyshire. 04/02/22.
'HESITANT.'
A male Brambling certainly enlivened the green, algae covered Elder branches as he crouched hesitantly, deciding whether to take flight. The image was made in February, 2022, just as he was starting to develop his bright breeding plumage. I really like those large dark spots showing on his flank.

Also known as the Red-backed Sea-eagle, the bird is found in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia. They are found mainly on the coast and in inland wetlands, where they feed on dead fish and other prey. They do hunt live prey also such as hares and bats. They may also indulge in kleptoparasitism and steal prey from other birds. Young birds may indulge in play behaviour, dropping leaves and attempting to catch them in the air. Not too hesitant to get into water as seen here. They may sometimes land in the water while going after fish, but manage to swim and take off without much trouble.
the boys are not so keen on this wading concept, although George is at least willing to check it out…
Three of Susquehanna's SD60's are hauling their train northbound from Binghamton to Syracuse under control of the BH-1 crew. We had a great day in New York following these guys, much thanks to Jacob's driving (I say that hesitantly), and some pointers from Brian Plant which were greatly appreciated. Especially for suggesting the Brooklyn Pickle for lunch, that place is top notch! Thanks a lot Plant!

Black-fronted Dotterel
Scientific Name: Elseyornis melanops
Description:
The Black-fronted Dotterel is a small wader with a distinctive black face-mask and breast-band and prominent chestnut scapulars (shoulder feathers). In juveniles, the breast-band is initially absent but a brown band slowly appears as the bird develops. Legs are pink orange, and the bill is red with a black tip. The dark eye is ringed with red. In flight the wings look broad and the tail short, while the black and white contrast is striking. Flight is slow with almost hesitant wing beats. This species is also called the Black-fronted Plover.
Similar species:
The adult and immature Black-fronted Dotterel are unmistakable, though the juvenile could be confused with the juvenile and immature Red-capped Plover.
Where does it live?
Distribution:
The Black-fronted Dotterel is widespread throughout Australasia.
Habitat:
The Black-fronted Dotterel is found in the shallow margins of wetlands, lakes, rivers, sewage farms, storm drains and marshes. It is normally always near freshwater and is not often seen on the coast.
Seasonal movements:
Breeding resident.
What does it do?
Feeding:
The Black-fronted Dotterel eats small molluscs as well as aquatic and terrestrial insects. When it forages, it keeps its body horizontal while bobbing its head to look for food, often running then stopping suddenly to peck at food items.
Breeding:
The Black-fronted Dotterel lays its eggs in a shallow scrape, often on pebbly ground and quite close to water. It may have more then one brood per year. Both parents incubate the eggs and look after the young.
Calls: Sharp 'tip' call, singular or repeated three or four times.
Minimum Size:
16cm
Maximum Size:
18cm
Average size:
17cm
Average weight:
32g

A lady in traditional attire enjoys the Autumn sunshine somewhere in Kullu valley, Himachal Pradesh, India.Taken on a long ago trip in October 2013.I was a bit hesitant about clicking her but she seemed to be quite indulgent and posed willingly for me.:-)You can see that the weather was pretty cold as she is wearing the thick woollen traditional dress , a pullover and woollen socks even on a sunny day.
Have a lovely day dear friends.
To my women with the utmost respect, intellect
We often forget and neglect intuition can see through illusive intent, listen to it
Just listen, just listen, oh
I found myself searching for a way to prevent, the detriment
And giving the impression that if you express to him what a woman needs
His comprehension is definite
But there’s a difference between understanding and honoring your word
And I’m articulate, he’s a good listener
But I’m hesitant ’cause he’s gonna fuck up anyways
I had the great pleasure of releasing this Red-tailed Hawk. A more than 1 kg male which had been rehabilitated at the Raptor's Clinic. Weighed, tagged and ready to go.
From the same time & location as the other stonechat photos, this was a male foraging with a female along a random backroad in Amman. Presumably because of its brighter colors (Stands out from the background more), this bird was more hesitant to allow itself to get photographed than the female, who allowed a slightly closer approach with the vehicle and to get her backlit. Still think a few of these have merit though, so will post them regardless.

It's interesting but it has been a bit difficult going back to photograph near where I live after the long lockdown during the winter and spring in Melbourne last year when I took dozens in my local area. I took my camera a little bit hesitantly with me on my walk this morning but actually found that I actually enjoyed taking a few early autumn pics in my local park. This is one of them.

(January 2025) ... This winter had a very hesitant arrival and mirrored the last few years. Some heavy snowfall in December followed by a warm up and a complete snowmelt down to grass. And repeat. January is trying to repair winter's reputation ... #etbtsy

In 1123, Robert and his companions settled at a place called "Bellus Fons" to build an oratory dedicated to Our Lady and a hospice for the temporary shelter of the poor and pilgrims. In 1215, one of his successors donated to the monastery the forest called "Bellum Fagetum," meaning "Beautiful Beech Grove," from which the name Beaufays derives.
The Canons adopted the Rule of Saint Augustine. They lived there until the French Revolution, rebuilding and renovating the buildings at the beginning of the 18th century, following the earthquake of 1692. Since then, the ceilings and decorations, dated 1701 for the church and 1733 for the convent buildings, have been admired. These works were primarily carried out by Henri de Goha, appointed Prior for Life in 1705 and who died in 1732.
The oldest structure still visible today is the keep, erected in the 16th century to the south of the Priory. The main 17th- and 18th-century buildings were built against this keep. A moat nearly one hundred meters long also ran along the facade. The farm buildings date from the 17th century and were also partially remodeled in the early 18th century, as evidenced by the dates engraved on the lintels of some of the doors.
In 1796, the estate was put up for public sale and purchased by a former canon and four of his companions. The church, meanwhile, was sold to the municipality and became the parish of Beaufays in 1804. The buildings were subsequently bought and sold five times. German Ursuline nuns built the north wing in 1875 to house a girls' boarding school.
In 1890, the estate was acquired by Adolphe Laloux, an energetic and aesthetically minded man who restored the Abbey and created the English-style park by filling in the old moats, laying out the paths, and even bringing in mature trees on rails.
I had the privilege of meeting Jack Charlton on Filey Beach in 1999 (21 years ago). A true gentleman. We were a bit hesitant at asking him for a photo but he said "No problem, help yourself"
My wife took the photo and in those days I only had a point and shoot camera. I have taken a photo of the original print as I do not have a scanner.
Jack was part of the England team that won the World Cup in 1966.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.

I visited the goats at Wright-Locke Farm today, as the cloudy weather (finally) was good for photography. It was also cold and blustery, and Will was hesitant to leave the coziness of the goat shed to come over and say hello. He soon did, and I made it worthwhile for him, giving deep, vigorous scratchies on his sides and rear legs.
This trendy [adorsy] Jimi Set has me quite giddy with its fun and many-pocketed cargo pants and leather jacket alike.
If you are somewhat hesitant to wear clothing that exaggerates your shape, you can still get in on the cargo pants trend. This Jimi Set with its open style jacket with exposed shoulders and halter top shirt creates a long, lean silhouette which balances out the visual heaviness of these cargo pants for a great look and vibe.
Its buy all fatpack sets fit LaraX (+Lara PetiteX), Legacy, and Reborn (+Waifu) mesh bodies. The mega color HUDs boasts 65 colors for the Pants ( + 45 additional in Denim), 65 for the Top, 45 for the Leather Jacket, and 45 for the Shoes.

Immature House Wren. This baby Wren left his nest today and has been hanging around our yard. His younger sibling is hesitant to leave the same nest as he tries, but quickly retreats to the safety of familiarity. Maybe tomorrow!
Heureux et sonné un peu... Du mal à reprendre le chemin des écoliers... Hyper nostalgique... le temps nous échappe ... hésitant à revenir ... doutant encore plus ... mais le cœur et les yeux toujours prêts à s'offrir à chacun !
...
Happy and sounded a little ... Hard to take the long way ... Hyper nostalgic ... time escapes us ... reluctant to return ... doubting more ... but the heart and eyes always ready to offer her for everyone !
It must be extremely scary for a bird to take that first plunge, flying away from the safety of the nest and into the unknown. This immature bald eagle flew for the first time a day or so before this shot was taken, and it was still hesitant about doing so again. I handheld my camera and lens up to my eye for as long as I could, taking quick breaks to ease my aching arms. This went on for a good 20 minutes as it mustered as much courage as it needed. Then finally, off it went, soaring majestically into the blue sky. So glad I waited!
My sincere thanks to all who spend the time to view, like or comment on my photos. It is much appreciated!

It was a fairly quiet morning at Sooke Harbour House subject to some Led Zeppelin tunes playing from the IPad.
We were about to sit down for breakfast when we heard a flutter at the balcony door. I thought someone was attempting to climb the balcony. Hesitantly I approached the balcony door and peeked out through the drapes. There was Oliver the Herring Gull perched on the balcony railing listening to Stairway to Heaven. Oliver was waiting for us to come out and give him some attention.
“And I write poetry on anything that comes to hand .., pink paper with yellow lines all creased and crumpled and slightly torn; brown paper bags that once contained Shiitake mushrooms for a soup; my favourite dark chocolate with sea salt cardboard wrappers and empty envelopes with stamps from far-off places where I will never go or never go again. Poets write on anything that comes to hand.
And I know the anxiety of being a wallflower
and I know all the perks.
And I know all the jerks that passed me by
or those that tried to prise me from the wall.
And I know what the cold is like
when I'm on the outside looking in.
And I know who will be there to catch me when I fall.
And I know what it's like to be a lost soul
wandering alone in the Universe.
And I know what it's like to find a friendship
that fills up all the gaps in me;
completes me like nothing else could ever do.
And I know what it's like to lose myself when I lost you
and the Universe imploded in on me.
And I know what it's like to miss you every day to Infinity and Beyond … simply é …
And I know more much more ...” - AP

Lights & Motion ~ "We Are Infinite"
CIPRIAN …
Eyes so brown with flecks of yellow
nutbrown struck by sunlight
walk through fields of Springtime meadows
wildflowers swaying in delight
arm in arm and minds on nothing
living dreams that lift our souls
stop to eat when we get hungry
sip mushroom soup from chipped and yellowed melamine bowls
exchanging glances shyly hesitant
small smiles turned up at the corners
I did not know this was goodbye
that I would be an absentee among the mourners
how many years has it been now
it feels like only yesterday
still I think I'll one day see you
when the rain storms come and slant my way
I left the crucifix to dangle
to keep me safe on the less-travelled road
I think of that small clip from that film I did not show here
that one entwined within our code
we talked in shorthand when we spoke
or with a smile or with our eyes
the friendship rose and fell again
then rose again just like the sunrise
some things may always be left unspoken
sometimes words are not enough
but we knew that friendship lasts
beyond infinity although it's tough
I still read your poetry
still read between those beautiful lines
and browse through your photography
so much deleted those words of mine
but not your fault but deep within me
was something broken and you could see
and though I did not realise it back then
you protected me from knowing your destiny
I can thank you for many reasons
for being there throughout my trials
a rock a guiding hand held out through all four seasons
remembering your beautiful smiles
to feel the love you had for life
still tangible though you are gone
I can feel you close beside me
whenever I need to be more strong
I rarely met anyone else like you
whose aura was so bright
you saw behind my eyes of blue
to the sorrow that denied my light
you never gave up on me I know
you wanted me to know what life is for
I try to remember all you taught me
I miss you always and simply more …

Dedicated to my beloved friend, Ciprian
A poet and the most beautiful human being you could ever wish to meet. To know him was to love him and when he passed he left the biggest hole in the Universe. I don't think I shall ever see his like again in this incarnation anyway …
Two long years and I still miss you though you are everywhere
In the rain and in the yellow
To Infinity and beyond … simply é …
Iubirea mea pentru tine nu va muri niciodata
We spoke mostly in French, but I did try to speak Romanian sometimes and he would smile indulgently. He recognised the child-like innocence in me that wants everyone and everything to be alright. He encouraged me in my writing and indulged my childish tantrums because he knew that like all things they would pass and he knew the reasons for them and accepted my brokeness because it is part of who I am. That was Ciprian … all-accepting; never just loving one small part of me, but embracing all of me with all the frailties and complexities within my nature. Oh, and one more thing, he loved cats and I would have loved him just for that ; 0) There are many different kinds of love. Our love was pure. The love borne of friendship and shared love of poetry and our minds always questioning everything.
I send my love and respect to dear Ciprian's wife who made his life so very happy. She was the love of his life and he of hers. If I feel the loss of my friend so deeply I can only imagine how hard it is for her to bear. My heart goes out to her on this day, the second anniversary of his passing.
HBM! Another photo taken in the Humber Bay Park yesterday as I left my home once for exercise, as permitted in the Stay-at-Home order.
"This is the time to be slow,
Lie low to the wall
Until the bitter weather passes.
Try, as best you can, not to let
The wire brush of doubt
Scrape from your heart
All sense of yourself
And your hesitant light.
If you remain generous,
Time will come good;
And you will find your feet
Again on fresh pastures of promise,
Where the air will be kind
And blushed with beginning." - JOHN O'DONOHUE
American Lifer #563. From..the Audubon society:
In native woodlands and brushy country of far southern Texas, this large oriole is an uncommon resident. Members of a pair may stay together all year, and often forage together in the woods, but they can be hard to see; slow-moving, quiet, and rather secretive, they often stay low in dense cover. Audubon's Orioles may be noticed first by their hesitant slow whistles from deep in the thickets.
Hit "L" then "Z".
A pleasant evening on Shuswap Lake, brings subtle hues just as gratifying. The obscure blues mingle with the hesitant warm colors. And, their reflections prove to be even softer, faintly painting the surface of the water. As if moving toward a state of entropy, this affair of disorder is one without delineating lines.
Only the foreground rocks show their edges, and a dynamic contrast of form is created. It is a serene moment and the simplicity gives rise to a welcome landscape.
My journey as a volunteer photographer at the Winnipeg Humane Society continues. And it continues to be an excellent opportunity.
It started with taking shots of dogs, which later morphed into taking shots of volunteers working with the animals, and recently trying out head shots and portraits of the new CEO. Later in the month I’m going into the home of someone who has adopted a pet from the shelter to show the story of the dog in it’s new adoptive home.
Offering photography as a volunteer has been an excellent, excellent learning opportunity. Because I’m doing it as a volunteer, there is a little bit less pressure (though I do want to produce something that can be useful). It has pushed me into areas that I did not even think of trying before this year. Finally, I find it extremely gratifying to produce some work that makes people happy and provides a use for my skills beyond my enjoyment.
And one final thought. I have had a lot of hesitations along the way. I was hesitant about sending the pictures in the first place thinking maybe they were not good enough. I was hesitant going in the first time, because what if I didn’t get anything good. I was hesitant about asking if I could shoot other volunteers while they worked with the animals because I had never done that type of photography. I was even more hesitant about the shoot with the CEO because that was really new. But i think the hesitations were good because they didn’t stop me and instead made me think about what I would try to do beforehand so the fears would not be realized. And it feels pretty good to overcome hesitations.
One last thing. If you’re at all interested, the shelter recently added a little story on my volunteer pursuits to their website here:
www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca/pictures-for-pooches-a-whs-v...
Today we went out early to breakfast in Winchester. Later we came across Brother Andrew out and about in the High Street on his scooter sporting, as usual, one of his attractive trade mark scarves.
We had a little chat. I took a photo. And then I remembered and mentioned when he used to get up early at St Cross to bake cakes to be sold in the tea room in Hundred Men's Hall.
Whereupon he said that now, although living at St John's, he still bakes cakes for the brothers at St Cross, the gardeners, the stone masons, and the stallholders in the market who today received a Dorset Apple Cake.
He outlined his philosophy of life - to do what you can do while you can do it and then to just accept when you cannot.
He explained that he still attends Matins each morning in the Norman church at St Cross and issued an invitation to attend as public are welcome to join the brothers in the 20 minute service. I am not a churchgoer but am tempted but also hesitant as I find organ music, singing etc too emotional especially since losing Clare - to be decided!
These three gulls seemed to symbolise the start of a new day. There is always something magical about sunrise . This dawn came gently , the sun moving up through a blanket of clouds seemed hesitant , almost shy.

The sky looked ominous, and made you kind of hesitant to proceed. I tried a couple of photos at the same location, and found the one I took while squatting - at the same height as the bench rather than standing up looking down the bench - most "desirable".
I've always been hesitant to photograph anything in foggy weather. I think this comes from growing up in Newfoundland where the fog is often too dense. However, I do love how the 'modest' amount of fog and snow isolates a few features on this farmland.
A near daily ritual of the Coronavirus Pandemic has been to walk around a small section of the parkland at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Increasingly often, I have carried a film camera or two with me. I have owned this one for perhaps twelve years without using it, always a little hesitant to entrust my picture making to it, a little wary of the slowness of the process; what a ridiculous mistake.
Zeiss Ikon Nettar, Foma Retropan @320, Retro special chemicals, and a little editing of contrasts and levels in Photoshop. Otherwise untouched.
If you like my photographs, why not consider buying a print at captures.life? I haven't yet finished building the site and putting in all of the terms and conditions and policies, but the bits that involve buying a print, having it delivered, and contacting me if anything isn't working or goes wrong are functioning just fine...
This Hoverfly was a little hesitant to enter "pollen heaven" within this echinopsis blossom - but eventually ventured deep inside !!
A couple of weeks ago when I visited the Desert Garden at the Huntington Library there were virtually no echinopsis but on this occasion there were numerous ! A wonderful morning at the Huntington.
While we were photographing in Cook's Meadow in Yosemite National Park during a very wet and heavy snowfall, a coyote wandered into my scene; I had my 24-105mm wide angle zoom lens on with a rain cover to protect my camera. Although the coyote came very close to me in his hunt for food and did not appear to be bothered at all by my presence, I was hesitant to change to my telephoto lens in such heavy and wet snowfall, so I opted to zoom with the lens I had on instead and capture him in his element. He did not bother to face me at all, he was so intent on finding some breakfast. This photo won an award of merit at the California State Fair's Fine Art Competition for Color Photography. www.optimalfocusphotography.com
Sometimes I think he is going to sink faster than a Kevin Costner movie.
Dusty still isn't the best swimmer. But, he is making some progress and his confidence has been growing (I don't know why, though - he's still terrible. lol).
I've taken Dash and Dusty to a nearby river which feeds into the ocean. Monday, Dusty will get a real taste of the beach and surf. I've been a bit hesitant to let him loose after his shenanigans at the RV park, where he thought running away from me for over an hour was funny.
I did take Dash to the ocean beach by himself on Thursday. Dash had spent a good deal of his first two years at the Oregon Coast. To say that I have never seen a happier dog is not an understatement. He ran and ran and ran in circles in and out of the surf. He was so joyful that several people stopped just to watch and share in his joy.
Oh, and before I forget (again), Dusty turned one-year-old on the 6th. Hard to believe. Here's his birthday photo: www.flickr.com/photos/7684325@N05/54708811737/in/photostr...
Brown Rat / rattus norvegicus. Attenborough, Nottinghamshire. 21/04/21.
The juvenile rat, (one of three seen around a tunnel), had just mustered the confidence to emerge from the undergrowth. Ever cautious, it made a few steps towards where I was concealed. Although the camera was on silent shooting mode and I remained stock still, it sensed I was there. In the image it is looking straight at me. I love those bright boot button eyes and spotlessly clean toes!
After visiting Húsavík and Goðafoss in the north of Iceland, we really wanted to drive south to the amazing Aldeyrafoss, but since it was one of the few days with rain, we decided to skip it and instead try to reach the famous seastack Hvítserkur in the blue hour. We knew that the drive would take more than 3 hours, but if Google Maps is right, we should be able to see Hvítserkur in the last faint light of the day. After 2 and a half hours of driving, we turned right onto a gravel road that got more and more bumpy along the way. Moreover, it started to rain and got increasingly dark, but since the visibility was still pretty good we kept speeding over all those bumps with the allowed 80 km/h, passing only a few lonely houses and farms along the way.
We eventually reached the parking lot, and as we got out of our camper van, we noticed that not much of the car’s white color was visible as it was splattered all over with dirt. Since it was already late and the weather was pretty bad, there was only one other car in the parking lot which was leaving when we arrived. So we hurried to get to the viewpoint on the cliff, and for a moment we really thought about going down to the beach, but due to the sketchy “trail” down and the extremely strong winds we decided to stay up there. We then set up our tripods and I really wasn’t sure if I can take my hands off the tripod without it flying away. My girlfriend and I then held each others tripod while the other mounted the camera on it. We kept the tripod as low to the ground as possible and tried some long exposures, but soon found that the wind was so strong that even shorter exposures of only a few seconds resulted in blurry images. To make things worse, the intensity of the rain increased, but we stayed out there and waited for the brief moments of calm where I could capture the only sharp image of the evening. To make the foreground a little more interesting, I then blended in the water from a blurry exposure of 13 seconds, which was nowhere near enough to smooth out the water.
Battered by the Icelandic winds and slightly soaked by the rain, we returned to the camper van and both hoped that we got a least one sharp image on our SD cards. Finally back in the car and protected from the elements, I looked up the way to the nearest campsite and my girlfriend then told me that she remembers an accommodation right next to the Hvítserkur parking lot. Since we had to drive by there anyway, we stopped and had a look, but the lights in the house were already out and not a single person was to be seen. I then checked booking.com and found this accommodation, but there seemed to be no room available. However, there was a phone number listed and so I asked my girlfriend if I should try calling them. She was a little hesitant since it was already 10:30 pm, but I figured they don’t need to answer the phone or probably already have their phones turned off if they don’t want to be bothered by late requests. So I gave it a try and a super-friendly Icelander picked up the phone and said: “Sure, there is still a room available! Where are you?” We were actually standing right in front of the house and 2 minutes later he came out of the house across the street, greeted us and showed us the rooms. We were so happy that we had found a nearby place to stay and especially enjoyed the luxury of a spacious room (compared to our camper van), took a hot shower and fell asleep very quickly in the comfortable bed.
The next morning, we both somehow hoped for an epic sunrise, but the sky was covered with clouds, the winds were still brutal and rain was pouring down. So it was with a heavy heart that we left this beautiful and remote place to head to the Snæfellsnes peninsula, and despite the far from ideal conditions, I am very happy about this picture because it captures the memories of another great adventure in the land of fire and ice. I hope you like it too!
… And now (drum roll… ) Yes, another sunrise from my Umbrian archives from Summer 2018 (for details about Umbria and that beautiful location you could explore my album aptly named Umbria.
I explored that sunrise as much as possible, shooting from as many points of view as I was able to. A convenient approach, you could say – yet there is a drawback. There was a strange light that morning – the air was heavy, thick, damp: it seemed to resist the pouring, silky sunlight. Maybe because of this the photos taken from some points of view are almost intractable. This photo is one of them: processing it has been a long struggle, and the final result has been uncertain up to almost the end of the journey. I am not completely satisfied with this image, yet I feel that it is not utterly devoid of merits and hope that it can convey good emotions and thoughts to somebody.
This reminds me of a scene I witnessed many years ago – one of those scenes one cannot forget.
I was on the underground: the archetypal train crowded with commuters going back home after work. I could hear the faint, distant sound of a guitar and a voice singing - a street musician trying to top up his daily earnings. A girl was sitting in front of me, her head lowered. It took some time for me to realise that she was quietly crying.
The music was louder now: I could see the tall, blond young man getting nearer and nearer. When he reached us he hesitated a bit and then he positioned himself just in front of the girl and started swinging as he kept playing his guitar and singing a song I cannot remember. He was definitely not a talented guitar player - even less a good singer - but his overall attitude was very lively, energetic, uplifting. The whole scene lasted more or less one minute. At last the girl slowly lifted her head, looked at the musician, wiped away her tears and… well, she smiled. A shy, hesitant smile – but it radiated an aura of delicate light all around her.
I hope that this photo, its flaws notwithstanding, can gift some of you with a little miracle like this. After all, one can never say when a miracle will happen, nor whence it will come – yet it happens.
I wish you all a happy (if locked down) Easter!
A hug from Italy!
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.3/0/+1.3 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4.
A very selective contribution to the final effect came from the inverted RGB blue channel technique described by Boris Hajdukovic. While this technique (which, its imposing name notwithstanding, is pretty simple to implement) often holds interesting results in full daylight landscapes, its effects on a low-light capture (e.g. a sunrise) are utterly unpredictable, so at the end of my workflow I often give it a try to ascertain its possibilities. In this picture I have exploited this technique in a very frugal, yet effective, way – just some touches where needed.
RAW files has been processed with Darktable. Denoising with DFine 2 and the Gimp (denoised and original images blended by lightness).
