After her recent haggis-bashing massacre, #FlossyFleecefoot quickly became smitten by the power contained within the unassuming Fortune’s Frond.

Despite her better judgment, Flossy started to fantasise about what mysteries the four-leafed clover would bestow upon the animal who dared to actually eat this mythical meal.

Weak with desire, she chowed down.

Without even adding a basic salad dressing, Fortune’s Frond was devoured in seconds. With her tummy full and curiosity satiated, Flossy was a little confused as to why she felt so hollow inside.

The hollowness soon turned into mild indigestion, and then chronic heartburn. Flossy tried to forage for some peppermint leaves, but before long she was bent over in crippling agony. And then the transformation started…

The only witness to this herbal horror was Margaret, but despite their lifelong friendship, she bailed at the first opportunity. Margaret was always a smart bear and knew her Flossy was gone.

From the shadows stepped forward Flossy’s final form – ‘Ovinus Maximus’, a black sheep filled with bile and hatred for all things cute.

This woolly nightmare headed straight for her hometown, where cuteness was always considered a key strength (spoiler - it’s not).

By nightfall, Ovinus Maximus reached the village outskirts and encountered a lone farmer tending to his cute pumpkin patch. With only a brittle wooden rake to defend himself, he quickly abandoned both the tool and any future life goals. Dropping to his knees, the farmer wasted his final breath pleading for mercy…

Highland folklore warns little lambs that wild haggis will feast on the heart, lungs, and liver of any stray sheep unlucky enough to cross their path whilst travelling alone.

For #FlossyFleecefoot, that day was today! Not long after leaving Whispering Woods behind, poor Flossy was attacked by a horde of ravenous haggis.

Fortune’s Frond was quick to act though, and somehow summoned Flossy’s ursine best friend, Margaret, to assist her in this skirmish. With Margaret eating every second haggis, this brave wee sheep only had to deflect the occasional airborne haggis with her trusty unicorn shield. Let the haggis bashing commence!

Priscilla Bramblewhisk, a squirrelling ranger, has always enjoyed an adventure since she was a wee-squirrelling. Whether it was climbing trees, hopping over rocks, or exploring burrows of other creatures within her realm. As she grew older, her adventures grew grander, though her parents may disagree for danger always loomed, and took her to further new places.

Upon one such adventure, a tribe of mandrake blights tried to capture her. Darting and dodging away from their lunges, one grabbed Priscilla by the ankle and tackled her. Lucky for her, kicking the blight twice in the head knocked the rooty face clear off! She quickly decided to stuff the wooden head into her backpack before darting out of the burrow.

When she finally returned back to her family burrow, bruised and battered, she was weary to try such an adventure again. Once she remembered the head of the mandrake blight stuffed into her pack, she decided that should not stop her adventures. Better yet, her first unfriendly encounter should be a reminder to herself to always seek passage, and maybe even a warning sign to other beings she may stumble across in future expeditions.

Priscilla now always brings her trusty quarterstaff with her. Serving as a walking stick, weapon, and reminder to foes that she is not to be trifled with!

Priscilla answered for the pair, "Priscilla Bramblewhisk of the Squirrelling Rangers, and, uh, Yarrow... of the wanderers?" She didn't sound convinced in this answer herself. Priscilla drew up her quarterstaff ready to defend herself, while Yarrow slowly lifted his magnifying staff to see who was talking ahead of him.

Young Cawthorne is from family of hunter crows. He, however has been rejected by his peers for lack of prowess on talon to talon combat. He grew up in exile from a just a fledgling.

In the wilds, he fashioned his first weapon, one that he would move on to master: a slingshot. The local fighters guild took notice if Caethorne's talents and recruited him. A fighter specialized in projectile weaponry.

Now, adventure calls. Cawthorne sets out for his firt delve with his handmade weapon.

Oswald is the latest in a long line of gardeners, growing up alongside the roots and leaves that define his trade. Now he is heading off to the legendary Dungeon Crossing, bringing with him a walking stick from his own garden. Edward is an eagle fledgling who is part of the gatherers guild. He spends his days with his father, exploring the forest and collecting fruits and berries to bring back to the Valley. His only weapon is a simple spear, up to this point only used to spear apples and other fruits off trees.

Challenge 1

Cawthorne stepped up to the questing beast for his delve. “I don’t understand, I give you something for you to spin the wheel? That does not seem like a fair trade.”

“Fair trade and tithing are two different things, young crow. Offer if you wish.”

“All I can offer is some of the shot for my slingshot” Cawthorne said as he emptied half of the contents of the pouch out and pebbles spilled onto the tithing platform.

“I understand you have spent most of your life in the wild on your own. We accept your tithing, but remember you have much to learn.” Tamouk spun the Wheel of Wonderous things to reveal that Cawthorne must quest for a bird egg on his delve. How ironic he thought. Nonetheless he accepts his quest and sets off to delve the dungeon.

Cawthorne traversed a narrow pathway that leads to a large chamber. It was tall and despite it being indoors was well lit and had the feeling of an outdoor space. He found himself oddly at home with similarities to the forest he lived in. He noticed the ruins of many stone buildings about and movement everywhere he looks. Could it be creatures or just the rustling of the leaves?

He was heading in a single direction, it felt the right way, for an hour when he heard a familiar sound: the caws of birds. He rounded the corner of the next ruin to be shocked by the sight of so many of them, and of every species. There were owls, parrots, flamingoes, finches, gulls, and even a wild chicken (but no crows). Each was crying out in horror in their own song as Cawthorne witnessed several monkeys rushing toward the perches where they were gathered. It seemed they were all trying to get a blue object from – THE EGG!

They were indeed trying to steal a large blue egg. It was presumably a bird egg and must have been quite precious; it nested upon a pedestal surrounded by the other birds and on its top was a golden crown.

The birds were diving down to fend off the monkeys the best they could and had two on the run. A third had slipped by them and was lunging straight for the egg. Instinctively, Cawthorne loaded his slingshot and drew back with a medium sized rock as shot. If he missed, he would fail- or worse yet- destroy the egg himself, but he had to try. He let the rock fly and his shot was true. It struck the third monkey in the head hard enough to injure and bewilder it. The other birds had come back and were running it off. The egg was safe.

After a moment more of commotion, all the birds gathered back around the egg and were looking very intently at Cawthorne. Finally, a bluish grey owl, maybe even sand blue, spread its wing and spoke. “It seems we owe you a debt of gratitude, dark one.” The other birds seemingly relaxed at this. “The unborn prince was nearly kidnapped.”

“It seemed the right thing to do. You may not be crows, but we are all still birds. If I am being totally honest, though, I AM on a quest for a bird egg.” Cawthorne wondered if his honesty would pay off; it had in the past.

“Then it seems fate has decided. You will take the prince into your care.” The other birds tweeted, hooted, cawed, and ruffled in astonishment. “As you have seen,” the sand gray owl continued, “we are struggling to keep his egg safe. He cannot survive here with the ever-encroaching monkeys. We implore you, dark one, take him on your quest.”

“So be it.” Cawthorne replied. “I will guard the egg until it hatches, but I cannot promise I will ever return. My delve may call me elsewhere.”

“If this is the fate I think, the prince will return when the time is right. Go, take him, before the monkeys return. And thank you.”

Without another word, Cawthorne found a safe place in his travel satchel for “the prince,” crown and all, and continued past the strange menagerie of all kinds of birds. Thoughts swirled around in his head but one rang clearer than all the others: Did I just become a father?

My character for the Heroes of Fur and Feather campaign from @brothersbrickofficial! Already having fun with this one.

Name: Fori Wayseeker

Race: Nomad Raccoon

Delving Item: Guiding Light

Fori is the eldest of an entire litter of raccoons, though he does not feel it. The Wayseekers are a line that favors tradition over all else, and Delving Day would have normally been the rite of passage that would have proved to his family that Fori was capable of wielding the Guiding Light.

The Guiding Light has long been a staple of the Wayseeker family. As nomads, it is what guides them to their place, their people, and their purpose. The Wayseekers are not a magical people, and don’t fully understand the inner workings of whatever enchantment lives within the Guiding Light, but they know that it is their duty to follow it and to keep it safe.

Everything changed when his father was lost. As the eldest, Fori was forced to carry the Guiding Light much earlier than he should have. Truth is, he wasn’t sure he would have ever been ready.

Fori makes the long trek to Dungeon Crossing for Delving Day, hopeful that he will have an opportunity to earn this responsibility that has been thrust upon his shoulders, and nervously anticipating the adventure before him….

Late to the hunt, but by no means slow, Le'na races to a quest on a pair of enchanted skates from her true passion, roller derby. The eggs of a rare butterfly will make for an excellent prize! But this leopard, she is no lepidopterist... she'll just have to catch as many as she can, wait for them to lay, and see what the elders think of the haul

Edward approached the Questing Beast, talons shaking and worried what he'd have to do. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He hoped his quest would be simple- He was just a mere gatherer, and all he'd ever used this spear for was fruits, not dreadful enemies. He opened his eyes and took the last step forward, dropping a tithe of his mother's special dried apples before Tamouk.

Tamouk nodded and stepped aside, revealing a golden wheel. "Spin the wheel to choose your quest" he said. "spin the wheel...spin the wheel" his acolytes echoed.

Edward nodded, grasping the edge of the wheel and spinning it with all his might. He watched as it circled round and round, finally coming to stop at a simple egg.

"Fitting," noted the questing beast, "an egg for a bird. Edward, you will head east for 3 days. There you will reach the edge of the continent. A short ways offshore there sit several islands, each with a large tree. In the biggest of these is where the Grawkin nests. You must retrieve one of it's eggs and return here."

Edward nodded and bowed his thanks before taking to the sky, heading east.

Three days later he arrived, quickly locating the tree and seeing the egg simply sitting in the hollow of a tree. "Wow," he thought, "what luck! this is going to be easy!" That was when he saw the eyes, yellow rimmed with red, peering out of the tree.

Edward quickly dropped to the ground in fear. Now that he thought about it, he realized he had no idea what a Grawkin even was. He peeked out and saw the Grawkin climb out of the hollow. It was a large bird, with teeth protruding from its beak and bright red plumage. He trembled.

Then the Grawkin began to speak. "I know you're there little birdie" it said, "come out, come out..." Edwards wings shook and he cowered down even further, holding the spear in front of him in shaking talons.

The Grawkin came closer and closer, soon standing right in front of Edward. "It's alright," it said kindly "I'm not going to hurt you. Ny name's Gndjsbgg, what's yours?"

A few hours later, after discussing many things with strange creature, much of it using words Edward had never heard of, he finally managed to leave with an egg in his possession, which he won in a daring battle of the wits in which he defeated the Grawkin with his acute powers of language (actually he just spoke a bunch or random nonsense since it seems like that was half of what came out of the Grawkin's mouth and somehow this caused him to win the so-called battle).

ENCOUNTER WITH THE BLOOMBEAST.

(Dungeon Crossing Series: Pt. 3)

Kukoshi was on his way down from the mountains, headed through the Bloombury Forest, when he heard a mysterious hooting. He was near a tree that looked as though it'd yield a good stick to chew on if shaken hard enough. The young pup moved to shake the tree, when he found the source of the hooting. An owl seemed to be drawing his attention to a suspicious spot on the ground...

Aha! Kukoshi had heard about these strange spots in the dungeon marking where others had buried their treasure. What could it be? He'd meant to find something within the dungeon to bring back as a souvenir for his Ma--maybe this was it? Luckily, the Quickpaws excelled at digging, and Kukoshi was able to make quick work of uncovering the bounty. With a wagging tail, Kukoshi discovered a new, remarkably shiny shield, and a bag of bells! Not quite what he had in mind for a gift, but the shield could certainly come in handy in the dungeon!

The pup continued onward, with a new, enthusiastic flying ally in tow. He decided to name the owl "Quickbeak," to make him feel like family. The two came across a dazzling flower in the middle of a grove. The owl insisted on warding Kukoshi away from the flower, but the pup was sure the blossom would make a splendid gift for his Ma. As he stepped into the mound the flower was growing on, he discovered all too late what peril the owl seemed preternaturally aware of. Kukoshi had stepped onto a Bloombeast! He lost his axe in his scuffle with the Bloombeast's viney tendrils, and began to panic, when he saw Quickbeak make a move to recover his weapon.

Steeling himself, Kukoshi put his resources to use, and wedged his new shield down into the monster's beak, and jumped up to receive the air assist from his feathery friend. On the descent, the young pup brought the axe swinging down through the air, delivering the finishing blow. Kukoshi thanked his flying companion, wondering what would've happened without his help, then continued onward in search of the next adventure.

Kukoshi may not have a gift for his Ma yet, but he sure had a story to tell!

Having completed his fetch quest, Fori tucked the golden carrot in his satchel and started back the way he came.

Only….this wasn’t the way he came. He’d accidentally stumbled upon a larger opening within the cave, and this new area was lined from the floor to the ceiling with reflective minerals and plant life, illuminating the chamber. In the middle sat a lone barrel, filled with gems, gold, and treasures like he’d never seen.

He approached the barrel slowly, and before he’d even had an opportunity to consider it, the barrel rose from the ground as the earth around it started to break. A giant spider emerged from the soil, adorned in gold-plated armor and thirsting for prey.

As it rose, a short sword was unearthed from the disturbed ground - a remnant of another soul that had stumbled upon this same cave long ago. Fori quickly grabbed this newfound weapon and thrust it into the underside of the still awakening monster.

The beast shrieked in pain, and Fori ran for the exit - one he was sure was correct this time. If he’d learned anything, it was that he’d need to be more careful from now on….Delving Day had presented its first danger.

"Friend!? I'd love to be a friend!"

"EEP!" Priscilla springs up into the air, using her quarterstaff to propel her even higher!

Landing startled, the tiny, high-pitched voice says "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! Just wanted to say I'd love to be your friend!"

"What are you?!" Still very taken aback, Priscilla stands and dusts her cloak.

"Well, see, I was just a mushroom. But then I, well, I think became more alive? I always alive before, but now I'm just.." (The tiny mushroom babbles on for sometime, while Priscilla has tuned out the little thing).

"But why?" She finally interrupts.

"Oh! Well. I don't know. I don't know much as you see I am but a wee mushroom..." (more babbling).

Heroes of Fur and Feather – Challenge 1: Delving Day

See my introduction of Duski Eaves here. Duski Eaves is a Batfolk Diviner and an amanteur carpenter.

Landing on the ground in front of the Questing Beast Tamouk, Duski retrieves a wooden bell from her robes - made with rather more passion than skill.

"Take this offering, carved by mine own claw"

Stepping up to the Wheel of Wondrous Things, she gives it a spin. When it stops spinning, it lands on mineral.

Descending into the Dungeon with the other heroes, Duski heads straight for the darkest passage she can see.

As Duski wanders through the passage, the light of her starlantern glints off something embedded in the wall, about two feet above her head.

She takes to the air to get a closer look, and sees it is a large fossilized shell. Duski tries to pull it out of the wall, shifting it slightly.

Holding her starlantern in one of her feet, she grasps the fossil with both hands, and gives it a mighty yank, and it comes out - bringing half of the wall with it!

Duski flies between falling rubble with her prize clasped in one claw. With some fancy moves she narowly dodges the debris from the collapsing passageway, letting her escape being buried in rubble.

Finally feeling refreshed, Priscilla Bramblewhisk decides to enjoy another outdoor saunter, and hopes it is a quiet journey. She follows one of her favorite, tried and true paths, until it no longer seems the same as it was....

"A mushroom?... but red?

You're a new friend in my forest," Priscilla mutters to herself continuing onward.

KUKOSHI QUICKPAW.

(Dungeon Crossing Series: Pt. 1)

This is my entry to the #heroesoffurandfeather series hosted by @brothersbrickofficial and going on now! It's all based around a crossover we never knew we needed: Animal Crossing and Dungeons and Dragons! My character for the challenge is the canian(homebrew race) fighter, Kukoshi Quickpaw. Lore below!

Kukoshi Quickpaw is the youngest pup in his family, and his time has finally come to partake in the Delving Day rite of passage! Kukoshi hails from a small family that lives in a mysterious part of the Valley known as Bone's Hollow. It's said the bones in the Hollow belonged to fearsome monsters of long ago. Most in the Valley don't generally visit Bone's Hollow, as a superstition surrounds it. As such, Kukoshi struggled a bit in his adolescence to make friends, since his family was viewed with a bit of a skeptic eye. Why it was so strange to everyone he lived there, he couldn't fathom! Sure there were a number of old bones leftover from a bygone era, but things still grew there, and as long as things grew, there was still life.

His family is full of carvers. They specialize in carving bone, but are equally proficient in woodcarving. Found a good stick in the woods, but need to make it an even better, special stick as a gift for a loved one? The Quickpaws are your people! Er--animals?

Kukoshi is a little nervous to venture to Dungeon Crossing, but as long as he's got his family axe by his side, he knows he'll be alright. The handle of the axe may have a few gnawing marks on it from the many generations that have wielded it, but what dog doesn't love a good bone? Though it isn't anything overtly special, the axe has protected the family over the ages in each pup's Delving Day rites, so the Quickpaws are confident their son will be just fine!

As the young pup travels onward, his tail wags with a nervous excitement, and he reaches into his bag to grab one of his calming snacks. Though Kukoshi's anxiety often gets out of hand, he knows there's no reason his Ma and Pa would send him off to do something he couldn't handle. Plus, now he'd get to show off all those fancy axe tricks he had been practicing!

Oswald was on his way back to the Crossing, but something seemed off. There was the clashing sound of a struggle coming from down the path.

Turning the bend, Oswald looked upon a great battle taking place. Creatures and monsters were everywhere, and the other adventurers were clearly struggling to hold them off.

Oswald, being a simple horticulturist, with little experience in battle, decided that maybe it was best to hide behind his shell until the whole thing just blew over. But it was not to be. A humongous crab encroached from behind, clattering its chitinous mandibles! Oswald tried to flee, but the colossal crustacean took a swipe at him- and while it was unable to take his head between its terrible claws, it stole his top hat instead!

Oswald, fueled to bravery by this brazen attack on his headwear, considered his options. He was too weak to defeat the crab by force, and too slow to run away. But, he remembered, he was a horticulturist: someone who studies the art of gardening, and he knew all about the properties of the herbs, vines, and fungi that call the forest home. Under a rocky outcropping, he saw it: a big purple and blue mushroom, clearly of the breed that has poisonous spores. Tearing out a chunk of the mushroom, he threw it at the enormous crab, releasing a cloud of spores. The crab stumbled in a dizzy confusion. Oswald grabbed his hat and put it back on his head. Then he took some more pieces of mushroom to use as weapons in the battle to come.

Today is Delving Day, the rite of passage when fledglings must leave behind the safety of the Valley and embrace the hidden perils within #DungeonCrossing in order to seek their very own questing quarry.

#FlossyFleecefoot has bravely chosen the Whispering Woods to prove herself to the Valley elders.

After checking thousands of two and three leaf clovers, Flossy’s hopes are in a far worse state than her muddy hooves.

In a quiet clearing, she finds Fortune’s Frond lying alone on the soft moss, its emerald leaves glinting under the dappled light, and as she picks it up, the wind shifts, and the forest holds its breath, waiting to see how Flossy will carry its fragile luck.

After offering some homegrown lettuce as his tithe to the Questing Beast, Oswald the Tortoise spun the Wheel of Wondrous Things. The wheel settled on "Relic" and Oswald understood his mission. Full of trepidation, he set off into Dungeon Crossing.

Oswald had gone off the beaten path some time ago and was now plodding through an overgrown valley. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a glint of gold... inside the maw of a gigantic Flytrap! After pondering the situation for a minute, Oswald took his trusty walking stick and used it to slowly pry open the Flytrap. Nestled inside was an ornate crown. Oswald knew not to whom this crown had once belonged, but now he took it for himself. Having found a suitable Relic he set off once more.

Introducing Peter Orcine. Peter is a weaver as shown by his nice clothing and home spun scarf. He's not sure what to expect on this Delving Day adventure. He's brought with him a simple lantern on a pole, because he knows that if he can't see what's going on then he won't be able to remember the adventure that he has.

The pair continued on through the mushroom-filled woods, seeing as they appeared to be heading the same direction. Of course, Yarrow's slow pace took Priscilla some getting used to.

"So what's with the magnifier?" She finally asked.

"Well I cannot see very far in front of me. So I must go slow to be careful," Yarrow calmly responded.

Yarrow chuckled. "It’s alright, dear. I didn't wish you to know until now. You have something for me, yes?"

"Oh! Yes! I made sure not to lose it." She handed him the stone.

"Ah, I thought it might be this. You seem the type. This stone holds a magic I haven’t yet discerned... but I sense you hold one too." His slow eyes brightened.

"Me?! I’m just a ranger. I don’t have magic."

"It’s not about spells or wands. Yours is of the heart. You’ve cared for these woods through hardship. That’s magic too. And I believe you’ll continue to care for the Delve."

Wide-eyed, Priscilla whispered, "Well... now what?"

"Take the stone. Meditate. All will be revealed."

She did so, calm washing over her. She imagined this “heart magic” and, though doubtful, found herself believing.

A sudden clatter broke her focus.

"Yarrow?" she called out. He was gone—only his pack remained.

Inside was a stitched label: *The Good. Items for all who require them.*

"The good indeed," she murmured, shouldering the pack with the stone now fixed to her quarterstaff.

No longer just Priscilla Bramblewhisk, Squirrelling Ranger—she had become Priscilla Bramblewhisk, Wanderer of Heart.

✨ FINAL entry for the Heroes of Fur and Feather campaign by @brothersbrickofficial ✨

Now safely outside the cave, Fori soon heard the rumors from the other delvers. Delving Day was a ruse, and they were all pawns in some game that he didn’t quite understand. He felt defeated.

As he sat by the cave entrance pondering his next move and whether or not he should return home and admit to his family that he had not proven himself, Fori heard a faint noise coming from the cave. As he moved closer, he could make out the sounds of screams coming from another passageway deep within the tunnels. Delving Day may have been a ruse, but there were still delvers that needed help.

Fori ran back into the cave, following the sounds of the screams. He soon found himself in a chasm similar to the one that he’d escaped from, and quickly noticed there were several more barrel-weavers in this location. A delver had been taken captive by the spiders and was trapped in their web. He was unable to reach them, and the sword he’d recently acquired would be no use here without being able to catch the spiders off-guard.

He looked down at the only other choice that he had - The Guiding Light, his lantern that had been an heirloom of his family for generations, that his entire lineage had trusted to lead them to their future. “It’s time for traditions to die,” Fori thought as he flung the lantern toward the barrel-weavers, where it burst into a cloud of flames. With the spiders distracted, Fori quickly cut the web and released their captive delver. They made their escape through the tunnels of the caves and reunited safely outside.

Fori made new friends that day. Delving Day may have been a ruse, but he had proved himself. He no longer had his lantern, but traditions had worn out their welcome in the Valley anyways. Everything that he’d trusted until this point in his life had been based off of a world that he didn’t know - but as long as they were willing, the heroes of the Valley could rebuild it together and create new traditions.

Feeling grateful to have escaped the Mushroom Ent, Priscilla hurried down the path to check on Yarrow.

"Yarrow! Are you okay? I heard your clattering—I’m so glad you made it away!"

"Yes, yes, my dear, quite alright," replied the now older, slower sloth. "I never introduced myself properly. I am Yarrow, a wanderer of the woods... but more than that. Many know me as the 'Questing Beast,' though I rarely say so aloud."

"You’re the Questing Beast?!" Priscilla was stunned. She’d been trying to return a found stone to such a creature when she first encountered Yarrow.

"Yes, one of my many names. Do I not look the warrior part?"

"I—no, that’s not what I meant," stammered Priscilla. She hated these kinds of awkward moments.

Duski is a batfolk hailing from the far eastern edge of Valley. She comes from a family of augers, fortune-tellers, and mystics.

She's learned much from her family, but Duski aspires to be something more grounded ... though precisely what changes from month to month.

Currently, Duski's particularly invested in carpentry.

She carries a starlantern, which emits a dim light suited to her sensitive eyes. It is also said to be able to reveal hidden secrets, though that may just be a family legend.

All of a sudden something large moved through the brush at surprising speed for it's size. Blocking their path, and standing double their height, a large mushroom-shaped figure prevented them from moving forwards.

"Whomst hath entered my wood?" Bellowed the low voice.

Heroes of Fur and Feather – Challenge 2: Monster Mayhem

With her fossil safely tucked away, Duski makes her way out of the winding passageways of the Dungeon, and returns to the crossing to see everything in dissarray, with menacing beasts emerging from every corner.

A giant serpent lunges from the underbrush, intent on devouring a hamster-folk, and Duski flaps into action! She flies right past the serpent's snout to draw it's attention. With a maw full of razor-sharp teeth on her tail, Duski Eaves dips and weaves in a winding flight path. Just the serpent's jaws are about to close around her midsection, it is stopped short - by following Duski, it has fallen into her trap, and tied itself in a knot!

Wielding his home-grown carrot blade, Tarroc Elrov, part of the Animal species, is a pumpkin farmer and barbarian. Though he is a pumpkin farmer, there is a hovering suspicion that he might like carrots more! Tarroc comes from a long line of carnivores, but he has decided to become a vegetarian. His carrot blade was genetically modified to be as sharp as a 1x1 Lego brick when stepped on. Then again, he must fight the urge to eat his own blade! Now he is in search of the fruitful “bouncy mushrooms”, which will aid him in mass producing carrot blades. #HeroesOfFurAndFeather

Cheddric stepped forward in a brave manner.

“I offer this,” he declared, holding it high, “a wheel of well-aged Mousefield cheese — fit for a creature of discerning taste and whimsical power.”

The cheesy aroma mingled with his words, hanging heavy in the air like destiny.

“By blade and bravery, I shall retrieve the legendary relic!” proclaimed Cheddric.

Back in the village of Mousefield, he trained in fencing with nothing more than an old umbrella. But how could one become a true master swordsman without the proper weapon?

Today’s quest: to seek a relic of epic craftsmanship — a sword forged by an elusive artisan.

With only a dinghy and a firefly lantern, he paddled deep into the Foggy Marshes of Whimsy. The water lilies whispered secrets, and an eerie croaking echoed through the mist like an enchantment. The very air shimmered with mystery. With a gentle shake, Cheddric’s firefly lantern glowed brighter, the swirling lights within scattering the dense fog like dawn chasing away the darkness.

“A foe!” he thought. “A siren song!”

Then — plop — a ripple. Two golden eyes appeared on the surface.

Drawing his umbrella-sword (his faithful training blade from Mousefield), Cheddric braced for battle. But instead of a monster, he found Grok, a frog no larger than a teacup, hammering away at a tiny anvil beside a riverstone forge. Grok looked up with a slow blink and a smirk.

To create the allusion of Pricsilla jumping, I attached a clear rod to her and to a point in the tree. The camera angle then took care of the rest of the magic.

Tarroc ventured to the Bouncy ShroomLands, in search of some small Bouncy Mushrooms. Bringing along his tithing of carrot and pumpkin, Tarroc finished the voyage to get there. The first small mushroom he found was on top of a giant bouncy mushroom, and the rest is history. #HeroesOfFurAndFeather

Cheddric the Bold - adventurer, mouse-keteer, aspiring swordsman and fencer. He may be small, and yes, he may be a little jumpy in the dark (not that he’d ever admit it), but that’s why he travels with a lantern full of fireflies and the courage of a much larger creature.

Peter looked around and when it came time to make his offering he withdrew a kerchief. It was a weave of his own making, a mix of cotton and linen. He offered it with a shy smile and was happy that it was received well. With his offer to the Questing Beast accepted he spun the Wheel of Wonders and got ... Relic. Peter gulped, relics were always guarded weren't they? And that sounded very dangerous indeed to a simple weaver. He mustered what little courage he had and entered into the Dungeon.

At first his lantern showed him little of note. Rock halls and skittering insects. He walked deeper and deeper still until his lantern showed him a mighty beetle that seemed to be eating the very rocks themselves. Peter quailed in fear before realizing that the insect had no interest in him. Onward he walked deeper into the dungeon seeing more and more of the large beetles. Until at last his trusty lantern showed him a sparkle of red and a ghostly green glimmer of spiritsteel! A Blade! Was it a relic? He wasn't certain, but as he reached out to take the weapon he figured that it would be helpful if anything more dangerous than beetles were to be found here in the dark.

Made for the #HeroesOfFurAndFeather event at The Brothers Brick.

Oswald stepped into the battlefield wielding a poisonous mushroom on the end of a stick, but before he could take more than a few steps a horde of ferocious beetles knocked him over and jumped onto his back, banging against his shell. Luckily, he was saved by two other adventurers just in time, and they formed an adventuring group to try and protect Dungeon Crossing no matter what.

As I was sailing back to the Valley, tension seemed to permeate the jungle. There was a sudden quaking that nearly sent me overboard! I didn't think too much of it at the time, but I began to notice movements in my periphery. The peaceful, sleepy valley seemed to respond to something... was it us adventurers delving all over Dungeon Crossing? Now the leaves skitter and shake with all manner of beasts and giant insects. Aquatic creatures, seemingly too large for this tributary, have been ramming my vessel... and to what end? Have we provoked the Valley's antibodies?

....Wait what is that rushing sound coming from downriver.... A WATERFALL!? Did those quakes change the shape of the Valley itself? WAAAaaahhh!!!!

--

I managed to survive the plunge, but I can't say the same for my poor vessel. She served me well, and deserves a better resting place than this watery grave. Within minutes of the wreck, I noticed a group of creatures scavenging my waterlogged food stores. Were these the same creatures that were ramming my boat?

I kept my distance to observe. While these prawn-like crustacean creatures might certainly be dangerous, they appear to be rather mild, especially on a full belly. I managed to find some of my supplies and caught a few fish before gathering up the courage to approach the creatures.

There was a rather large one of these dire prawns who seemed to be leaving food for its younger broodmates. I took a gamble and offered it everything I had gathered. The prawn seemed to size me up for a moment before pushing the food to her siblings and giving me a knowing look. Shelly seemed to say "Hop on! Let's hunt!" I grabbed hold of her carapace and she took off, plunging headfirst into the waterfall and cascading upwards! It was all I could do to hold on for dear life!

I might be a pirate without a ship, but I've found the first member of my crew - and that makes me a true captain!

Itching for battle, the first monster Tarroc spotted was a giant pumpkin golem. As an ex-pumpkin farmer, it seemed very fitting to fight this creature. Surprisingly, the pumpkin somehow seemed to recognize Tarroc. “You have betrayed us pumpkins!” The monster said. “Now you will pay!” Unamused, Tarroc asked “How did I betray you?” The pumpkin began to become furious. “ You used to be the most devoted pumpkin farmer in the land! Now you left us for stinky carrots!” The golem screamed. “Not many things make me mad,” Tarroc responded. “But NEVER call my carrots stinky!” Tarroc was so enraged at this point that he sliced the pumpkin in two with one slice from his carrot blade. . . This was my entry for challenge two of the #heroesoffurandfeather event

Ignoring the tiny thing, Priscilla decides it is bet to take the odd mineral, and continue on her quiet walk. Pocketing the rock, she can't help but ponder wherever that noisy, little mushroom have come from? Priscilla knows these woods and especially this path all too well for it to not be something odd.

Still unsure of what it does, Priscilla will be offering her new-found rock to the questing beast.
