We are no strangers in NM to to wild fires usually started by a lightning strikes, sometimes by careless and thoughtless humans. At this time of year it is tinder dry here. This is the smoke from the fire in the Santa Fe National forest and it's giving a tint to the sun rising over the Sandia mountains this morning. Fire officials say the fire is burning in steep, rocky terrain. Ground crews can only access the fire by hiking.

The Hereios are visiting Sleepy Hollow tonight!
I have been visiting this barn with my camera for five years now. It is oddly located in the middle of an industrial park area, and when I drove by the other day I noticed the fence was gone, and there are signs of some land next door being cleared. I fear it might be disappearing soon, so I made a pre-dawn trip over there this morning to get a few more photos just in case it really is doomed. I thought this shot, which came out pretty dark against the colorful dawn, might work as a backdrop for the We’re Here! theme today.

Today WAH visiting Those Were the Days
A retake of a photo back in 1990.
I worked as a manager for a telecom company for more years than I care to remember. This was me back in 1990 being a super hero and delivering a briefing to other managers in some rah rah way before attending a conference where I had to deliver it all over again. We certainly embraced the work hard play hard culture. They were enjoyable days.
Mary Hopkins released Those Were the Days back in 1968. Those Were the Days" is a song credited to Gene Raskin, who put a new English lyric to the Russian romance song "Дорогой длинною" (literally "By the long road"), composed by Boris Fomin (1900–1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevsky. It deals with reminiscence upon youth and romantic idealism. It also deals with tavern activities, which include drinking, singing and dancing.
I must admit I really disliked this song and turned off the radio when it came on.
