"At least one of our corporate officers has served on its board of directors since its inception in 1971." There is no Compact Privacy Policy below their website and no readily available Corporate Statement of Earnings or statement of Board of Governance or members. I have emailed the FDA and asked for verification of these claims - have not yet received any response. As of 6/16/16 their web site appears to be down for some reason: www.interstatebloodbank.com/

Yet it goes on to say, "FDA is charged with protecting the safety of the nation’s blood supply and ensuring an adequate supply of suitable blood for use in the United States and regulates the procedures for the collection and screening of blood. We hope the following information will be helpful."

Dear Ms. Vinch:
Thank you for your e-mail inquiry concerning Interstate Blood Bank, Inc. in Louisville, KY. The Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), one of seven centers within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is responsible for the regulation of many biologically-derived products, including blood intended for transfusion, blood components and derivatives, vaccines and allergenic extracts, human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products (HCT/Ps), gene therapy and xenotransplantation products.
FDA is charged with protecting the safety of the nation’s blood supply and ensuring an adequate supply of suitable blood for use in the United States and regulates the procedures for the collection and screening of blood. We hope the following information will be helpful.
CBER requires all establishments that collect, manufacture, prepare, store blood and blood products under controlled conditions for further distribution, or process blood and blood products to register and submit a product list within 5 days after beginning operation. Blood and plasma establishments must register annually between November 15 and December 31 and update product listings every June and December. The Agency maintains a database of registered blood and plasma establishments in the Blood Establishment Registration (BER) database. Please note that being registered with FDA does not mean a firm is in compliance with FDA regulations. Registration with FDA means that an establishment has notified FDA of its business address and their blood products. Registration enables FDA to know what blood establishments are out there so we can do periodic inspections.
The link to the public query of registered blood establishments (BER) can be found at the following link on FDA’s website: www.fda.gov/BiologicsBloodVaccines/GuidanceComplianceRegu.... I was able to find the establishment in question in that database with a current registration. The listing has the address of the establishment along with contact information of the Corporate Medical Director for that facility should you wish to contact them. Additionally, the Blood Establishment Registration database shows the licensed blood and blood products the establishment has notified FDA they are manufacturing.
Please know that FDA does not have regulatory authority over the advertisement/information that Dell provides in the link you gave us. As noted above, the Agency regulates the blood and plasma establishments. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) that blood and plasma establishments must follow can be found in Title 21 of the CFRs, Parts 600-680 includes information for biological products: general, licensing, good manufacturing practice for blood and blood components, establishment registration for manufacturers of blood and blood products, product standards, requirements for human blood and blood products. A registered blood establishment must have a biologics license or an approved license supplement for each product it distributes in interstate commerce.
We hope this information is useful.
If you need further assistance, you may contact our office again at ocod@fda.hhs.gov or by phone at 1-800-835-4709.

Jill Burkoff

Dear Jill -
Thank you for your timely response. I appreciate the input however I had submitted a previous FOIA request on the clinical trial results for Splenda back in 2009 (below) and still have not received those - perhaps you may not be aware the FDA is non-responsive to FOIA requests?

Nearly any public park (and property) in Louisville, Kentucky with a stream, tributary, brook or river has raw human sewage dumped into it after a "rain event". People, children and pets are fishing, boating, swimming, skiing, kids playing in the water, kayaking, dogs romping in it, domestic, farm and wild animals drink and wade through it - it defies imagination. Louisville and MSD did receive Federal "stimulus monies" to replace their antiquated CSO (combined sewer overlow) systems years ago but the work has not been completed.
Louisville is one of the few remaining municipalities in the Nation to have kept this system in place. Hopefully priorities will change soon. www.whitehouse.gov/recovery/

On 21st November 2018 Mid Coast, NSW Council Natural Systems management and staff invited interested observers aboard the Free Spirit Cruise Boat for a cruise up the Wallamba River as far as the Darawank Wharf to see the efforts council was making to reduce stream bank erosion and to maintain the highest possible levels of water quality.
This image was taken at the Stone Cut as we left the Wallis Lake main channel and turned into the Wallamba River.
The Wallamba is one of 4 rivers that flow into Wallis Lake which ultimately flows to sea at Forster Tuncurry.
The other 3 rivers are the Coolongolook,Wallingat and Wang Wauk.
As soon as we boarded the boat we were presented with a document titled 'Waterway and Catchment Management Report Card 2018' which outlined the current level of health of the various rivers, lakes and estuaries under Mid Coast Council's stewardship.
Mid Coast Council looks after the environmental health/water quality of all 4 rivers.
Excellent water quality is essential in the Wallis Lake Catchment and estuary as the lake is home to the largest oyster growing industry in Australia.
This became blindingly obvious after February 1997 when many people contracted Hepatis A as a result of eating oysters contaminated with human faecal pollution, ultimately shown to be leaking from household septic systems, which had made its way into Wallis Lake.
Since that outbreak no stone has been left un-turned in an effort to minimize a repeat of such pollution.
Septic systems are now regularly inspected and a raft of other measures have been put in place, by the state government, local council and the various industries that either use Wallis Lake or its immediate environs.
Today Wallis Lake can be described as pristine however natural events and human caused problems are never far away so water quality monitoring needs to be systematic and thorough.
While water quality is a major focus other impacts such as river bank erosion must also be monitored to reduce siltation and lack of water clarity.
The officers from the council, led by Natural Systems Manager Gerard Tuckerman, very thoroughly outlined all the various council programs that are, or have been, operating in the Wallis Lake Catchment with the Wallamba River being used to demonstrate examples of the work.
A very worthwhile days cruising enjoyed by the 48 people who took the opportunity to attend.

The World Health Organization recently issued a ‘global alert’ about a new form of severe hepatitis affecting children.
The news came after the UK Government announced it was launching an urgent investigation after detecting higher than usual rates of liver inflammation (hepatitis) among children, after having ruled out the common viruses that cause the condition.
The current publicised, but not watertight theory is that this is due to an adenovirus. But not just any adenovirus. Evidence suggests that Medicine Regulators around the world believe it is due to an “attenuated” adenovirus variant in both the AstraZeneca and Janssen Covid-19 vaccines that has gone rogue.
(Expose) On April 15 2022, the World Health Organization issued a global alert about a new form of severe acute Hepatitis with an unknown aetiology (cause) affecting previously healthy children in the UK over the last month. Cases have also been notified in Spain and Ireland. Tests have excluded all previously known Hepatitis viruses.
The announcement came after the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) recently detected higher than usual rates of liver inflammation (hepatitis) in children.
The hepatitis infections had been confirmed to have hit children in at least twelve different countries, with the majority of those cases spiking in the UK.
