My wife is setting up for the holidays and we always need help from a little cat. It wasn't long after this shot when Jane made her first climb up the tree. I didn't get a good photo of that because we were not in sync with her misbehaving and my wife scolded the cat before I could focus.
ISCO Göttingen 100mm projector lens, converted to M42. Unlisted f-stop rating, but it feels around three-something.
Cow parsley was used in traditional medicines and is said to help treat various ailments, such as stomach and kidney problems, breathing difficulties and colds. Its always been used as mosquito repellent.
I couldn't help it. I was meaning to post another photo, something different, but when I saw this from my old files, I couldn't help but post it. What a breathtaking place -- it sends me daydreaming everytime I go.
Oh, here's a little trivia my friends:
1) The mountain is the subject of the song 'El Capitan' by the Scottish indie band Idlewild.
2) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier opens with a shot of Captain Kirk scaling El Capitan.
3) El Capitan is also a circuit in the Playstation 2 games Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy.

i'm really just hanging on by a thin thread. i think i plan so much for myself. the trouble is, im the type of person who HAS to do it. i dont make promies to myself and others i cant keep. so if i have a goal, i do it. and then i spread myself thin and dont have enough time!
well. maybe ill take a little time off from being so busy (but still do my 365...of course)

This is a collaborative work done in collaboration with my 6-year-old grandson, Niko Felton and all the children from 0-6 who participated in the Ringling Museum Education Center painting activities on July 13, 2018. It was a pleasure to see the pure joy on the children’s faces while they were freely creating individually and together to make 3 beautiful large paintings expressing free will, the ability to cooperate, the fun of learning and interacting. The time passed by so fast and was time well spent, several of the children would have stayed longer had the time allowed.
It is one in a series I have started to help us realize how important the family unit is and that no-one should be allowed to break it up.
Reading so many articles about children being forcefully separated from their families through war, greed and hunger make me realize that we artists must address this issue head-on. No family should have to resort to becoming a refugee in order to have a country, a home, food, good health, education and the ability to make a decent living. We all belong to the human race and therefore should help and respect one another it is the right and decent thing to do. If every country in the world got together to achieve this goal it would be possible so let us make it happen.

Santa's little helper was busy delivering gifts all night long and now he's having a relaxing walk on Christmas day.

Three pelicans rest on a sea wall in Boca Ciega Bay near Upham Beach in St. Pete Beach, Florida. One pelican has a fishing line protruding from an area behind his leg.
The guy on the right kept turning to me, like he had something to say. I was clueless to it, trying to hold my balance on the rocks and focus on his eyes. My wife knew right away, of course, telling me as she spotted me on the rocks and approached.
All three flew away shortly after I captured this image, so I never saw it until I edited the photo in full resolution. Look closely - he's got a leader protruding from just behind his left leg, with a swivel and a bit of line dangling from it. I can't tell if there's a hook involved, but that feels like a reasonable assumption to me.
Before I knew about his predicament, I loved this photograph because it gave me a sense of technical satisfaction - three in a row, perfectly spaced, and nobody's pruning themself! And, bonus, that gaze!
Now it makes me a little sad every time I look at it.
I still love it though, because it reminds me of things that are important to me - wildlife and the environment - and the challenges they face.
