This could have very well been my Halloween picture this year, haha. Saw this on my walk yesterday in the midst of an autumn rain storm. There was a break in the rain, but the fog remained, ever lingering around all mysteriously.

I have no idea what this makeshift "A" is for or why it is there but I found it interesting. It provoked many questions and I love a good mystery.
NOTE: I am sure you have noticed most of my pictures lately have been taken with my iPhone? I used to hide the pictures I took with my phone and only post pictures on that occasion I had time to get out with my camera. I thought to myself, why should I hide a picture just because it is not perfect with technique and void of noise and grain? I know some would disagree with me, and that's alright. If photography to you is about the perfect shot, then wonderful! I know for most it is. But do you know, I have been my happiest just worrying about capturing a mood rather than trying to get that perfect shot. I have said this before but, oh goodness, it is good to just LET IT GO!

I have been taking a lot of pictures with my phone lately. Why? Because for some reason every time I leave the house I see something beautiful. I made an oath to myself that, for now at least, I am going to try and stop each time to capture that beauty.
The shots will not always be pristine and with a decline in my views/faves I am sure some photographers with far nicer equipment and/or much better skill than I may scoff at these images, (as I have had some nasty comments of such saying I can do much better with what I have). But, that is okay. :) Because for me, the image is not about the technique anymore, (been there and done that, stressed to the max for that perfect angle and edit). It is now about the poetry of it and creating something that moves me internally.

The Tamarack tree is such an underrated tree! It is one of those special conifer trees that turns bright yellow in the fall and then drops it's needles. I find their coloring the most beautiful of all the trees in the autumn. How does this tree get overlooked so often in the fall??
Don't we all feel like this sometimes? Our beauty or our good deeds go unnoticed. We feel invisible, unappreciated, over worked and underrated. It can be hard sometimes not to get bitter but remember, what good deed is done in secret is always rewarded.

While I was one my daily morning 3 mile walk I looked down and saw the beauty in these leaves. I love the sound when I walk on them and the scent it rustles up. I read somewhere that autumn smells so wonderful because decaying leaves supposedly emit a scent similar to baking brown sugar. Well, it certainly seems true. My morning walk smelled heavenly.

Another year in the woods. This has been a tradition for my husband since he was old enough to go with his dad and even now, 30 years later they still go together each year to deer camp. They hunt, tell stories, play cards, eat delicious food and watch TV. The perfect man time away from home.
Wouldn't it be nice ladies if we got time away from the home and kids to play around too? ;) Hehe

I am nearly done with my 100x project. I am super excited about it. I hope to be able to make a collage for it. I should have done first 50 and last 50 but that escaped my mind.
Autumn is winding down here. The trees are now bare and today is our first snow. The ground is covered in snow and ice has formed. I will see 7 more months of winter weather. Wish me luck.

This might be the last ride for the season. 76 degrees today which is unseasonably warm for this time of the year. My hubby and I had to take advantage of it and get out into nature for an ORV ride. Tomorrow they are stating it will be a high of only 50 and freezing temps at night. Back to normal. But we will be grateful for this day and put it in that memory book within our minds. :)

So before I start really complaining about summer fading away and the colder weather creeping up on us, as we all know I'll do, I thought I should remind myself that autumn is actually my favourite season.
Fall brings a weird mix of happy and sad with it for me, I love the autumn tones and the comfortable temperatures but really dislike that it's the welcome party for old man winter.
But before I start dwelling on snow and ice, let's embrace the warm tones and happy feeling that fall brings with it.

As summer comes to an end, it is time to welcome fall. One season changing into the next.
Yes, change is inevitable. If nothing else, flickr has taught us that. But we're still here. So let's grab our cameras, take some pictures and welcome the new season.
This beautiful sundial can be found in a koi pond in one of the many gardens surrounding the butterfly center at Callaway Gardens.
