Hello from Laura, on a rainy and chilly morning in Victoria, BC

...This one is from my archives! Taken in my pond. Currently we have a rather large amount of frog spawn in it and no doubt we will eventually have to fish out a few frogs, otherwise it will be overloaded!....and ruddy noisy!

~HGGT! Everyone~

Any critique is appreciated ~ Thank you!

October is definitely my month on the Blythe end! It couldn’t have been a better timing for celebrating my 40th birthday with 2 publications featuring me as a Blythe blogger and collector!

Excuse me for this below par picture, btw!*

I got you all worried, eh? ;-)

Here's the news: I never thought I'd make the jump to Nikon Full Frame. Too big, too heavy, too expensive etc. But when you bump into the limitations of... say a D90, you start to look further.

I was planning to get a Nikon D300(s) but I found out it had exactly the same sensor as the D90.

The D7000 was a possibility, new sensor, better ISO performance... but it still had those funny settings like 'portrait', 'nightshot', 'sports' and all that.

I also kept an eye on a couple of my contacts with a D700 (*cough* Scott Wilson *cough*) and I could see what an excellent machine it was and what it's capable of... so I decided to go for a second hand D700.

I picked it up yesterday! Boy am I happy! It felt like a giant leap, but within 24h I already feel pretty comfortable with it. Heavy manual research, upgraded firmware, toying around... amazing what kind of pictures you get out of it even at 3200 ISO, it borders on the insane! (just like me actually - at the mo', hehe)

Selling a couple of lenses now to 'create' some money for other glass.

My wishlist - short term Sigma 12-24mm (12mm on FX will blow you away!) and the Nikon 16-35mm f/4 or 17-35 f/2.8 second hand. Also a second hand Nikon 80-200 ED f/2.8, anyone?

Wishlist - long term Nikon 14-24mm, Nikon 24-70, Nikon 70-200mm (all f/2.8) Donations welcome! ;-)

Hello everyone!

I just came back from holidays. We went to a state near here, had much fun and enjoyed many sunny days in a wonderful beach city!

Tomorrow my COLLEGE starts! In Brazil is not common to leave home and divide a room with other people as it is in the U.S.A, but I'm sure much fun will happen too! I can't wait! Also, I won't have much time to go out and take photos, but I surely will continue entering on Flickr.

I wish you all an amazing week! :D

611 Fireman Cheri George waves to a friend of mine after the train finally crested the hill on the Sunday morning passenger train out of Manassas, Virginia.

The 611 was put to a big test with wet rails, frequently spinning the drivers, but conquered the hill.

Hello there my friend....
