Yesterday hubby and I took a lovely walk with Daisy Dog alongside a canal near our home which opens up onto the Blackwater Estuary, we walked to the Marina and had lunch and then walked back passing the quaint and beautiful Lock Keepers Cottage, simply so beautiful, hoping to have brought some of the beauty to this image, have a wonderful Sunday ~ KissThePixel2019
... what to make of (and with) this lens (Helios 44M-4, but modified). Here at F2, High Street, Markyate, on a bad day.
Wide-open with the Helios 44M-4. That "swirly bokeh". It is great fun indeed, but nothing to die for. In fact, the lens is in many ways optically inferior. Shooting at F2 (the fastest option) and close to the object, say one or so meter, there will be no sharp focus, not even in the centre (at least with my copy this is the case). Stopping down and increasing the distance, however, the lens will begin to shine. One can indeed produce spectacular moments with this lens. And, if it is true that sharpness is "a bourgeois concept", then the sky is the limit.
Apart from being able to produce "swirly" bokeh (under carefully arranged circumstances) my modified Helios 44M-4 is good for the "toy camera" effect. An acceptable focus would only be in the centre withy the lens stopped down to F4 or so. Here a shot across our local cemetery. Some might even find this 'atmospheric'.
Have a fabulous Fence Friday, took this image in my village the other day when walking my Daisy Dog before the heavens opened, and more rain fell ~ KissThePixel2019
On my walk the other day I saw this amazingly coloured Pink and Purple Poppy, it was so beautiful I had to climb and ramble through some quite thick undergrowth to get to it, a few nettle stings for my efforts ha ha, but all fine now, have a great Monday Flickr Folk ~ KissThePixel2019

Have a great day everyone, its the longest day of the year here in the Northern Hemisphere. I have been enjoying the light evenings and so I have brought you an image of a Summery Solstice Fence just as the Sun begins to set. May you have a magical Summer Solstice Evening ~ KissThePixel2019

I will catch up with your images later, i'm quite behind due to work and a very busy garden :))
I was unsure whether to share this image, I was up close to the Poppy as I have already shared in my Photo Stream a few days ago, the Poppy was so beautiful with its unusual coloured petals, the afternoon light was lovely, the yellow flowers and meadow surrounding it just added to its beauty, anyway, like written before after clambering through a rather overgrown meadow to get a photograph, this beautiful big Bumble Bee just came and landed on the Poppy as I was standing there, it was so beautiful watching her going about her business and I knew I had the wrong lens on to capture a great image. I was shooting with my Helios, so my camera was set to single shot, manual mode, etc, etc, also the Helios is a fixed prime, so I held my breath and hoped I could catch the Bumble Bee on the Poppy, it is slightly soft on the Bee, focus was already set for elsewhere on the Poppy and it wasn't on continuous shoot, so I was on a 'wing and prayer' or should I say a 'wing and poppy' to catch this lovely Bee collecting her nectar. Anyway, nature is so beautiful and my perfectionist attitude should be put aside as I think we can all appreciate the unusual coloured Poppy petals in contrast to the big Bumble Bee and how lucky we are to see such beauty in a world where nature is in peril because of humans, have a wonderful Wednesday ~ KissThePixel2019
Finding wild poppies in among the corn yesterday was such a beautiful contrast, quite breathtaking, hoping I bring the image to you as I enjoyed it yesterday ~ KissThePixel2019

I find Roses and Daffodils really hard flowers to photograph, unless you do a real Macro image of a Rose and create drama with the petals or a real close up which I often see done so wonderfully and successfully by fellow photographers, I feel I can't deliver an image that gives that 'wow' factor so I practised on this Rose the other day, just taking a few images without doing a Macro shot.
The light was beautiful and this Rose was sticking out of someones front fence. I think this is best image I have taken of a Rose that's not a Macro of the petals, just simply the Rose. I think it all depends on the light, composition and angle of the Rose at the time.
Anyway I hope you like it, thank you for visiting my Photo Stream have a wonderful evening Flickr Folk ~ KissThePixel2019

Be careful where you walk, for you never know what you might see... Remember your garden toadstools are fairies secret rest places... Magic is all around us... KissThePixel2019
I saw this toadstool/mushroom/fungus in my woodland, I don't much about them to be honest, (obviously I know many are poisonous) I would love to find the classic red one with white spots 🍄 but this one was quite sturdy and perfectly shaped for this fun image and so I took one of my fairies and she sat perfectly in the magical light. Just a bit of creative and imaginative fun, hope you enjoy it, have a great Wednesday. Wishing you lots of magic and inspiration ~ KissThePixel2019
Modified Helios 44M-4 at F4 or F5.6. As said before, "swirly" bokeh is not the only thing this lens can do - "toy camera" is another option with a bit of focus in the centre. I have not yet tried the lens for portrait. This is a view down High Street (Markyate, Hertfordshire) with a red poppy decoration to the right (last week we remembered the victims of the wars and Armistice Day).
