We are very fortunate to have a beautiful farm 1 mile from the house. Alex is one of the most environmentally conscious farmers in Maine. And he is a dear friend of the community.

PS. Still using mostly emojis to comment on your

lovely photographs, thank you!

The chain was my grandfather’s watch chain and the padlock clasp was added by my Mum, now it belongs to me. Taken for Smile on Saturday - Wearing Jewellery.

Although we had many tomatoes this past year I hardly posted any photos of them,

This Heirloom plant was given to me by a friend,

he had seedlings on the window of his auto part store,

strange place but the sun hitting the window help them mature.

An Heirloom tomato grown by us from a plant that Edgar and Ron grew from saved seeds of many generations of tomato. A very old variety that Ron's relative grew years ago and passed on to Ron. We will save seeds to carry on this Heirloom variety.

Day 42 of the 365 days of photography project.

This family heirloom gets passed through and down the generations of our family.

Now I’m the current keeper of this mysterious steel box and its contents.

Back on it's golden hinges The Gate of Memory swings,

And my heart goes into the garden and walks with the olden things.

I think everyone has favourite keepsakes...here are some of mine.

An heirloom tomato is an open-pollinated, non-hybrid heirloom cultivar of tomato. They are classified as: family heirlooms, commercial heirlooms, mystery heirlooms, or created heirlooms. They usually have a shorter shelf life and are less disease resistant than hybrids. Wikipedia

I'm hoping to be here longer this post hospital time - I've had a stroke in my right eye, so am in a vulnerable position.

These little beauties were on sale this week so I indulged myself for my health and my project. I am very excited because I start my cookbook/food photography class tomorrow. Though after watching so many food photography videos it is clear why those images can be amazing; many have a big budget, a chef, food stylist, prop stylist, photographer, art designer, and photo re-toucher so why wouldn't they look perfect. Here's to new adventures...

Heirloom tomatoes for sale in the small store of a local farm.

About 10 days ago there was an event at a local park where they showed and sold heirloom seeds - flower seeds as well as vegetable and herb seeds. I would have loved to go there but couldn't because of my Covid. When I was able to return to the park the event was over but there were still some items in the glasshouse where it had taken place which I could photograph. :)

Two bracelets that I have inherited, the padlock and chain from my mother and the bangle from my mother-in-law. The chain was originally my grandfather’s watch chain, and my Mum had it made into a bracelet. The bangle is classic 1970s, both very wearable.

These were bought from a local small farm and are being used to make into tomato paste, but are also great subjects for photography

I have made this for my S/Daughters wedding next month, it will be used for signing the registry book and then kept as an heirloom.

When things are perfect there's no room for the spirit to enter.

My grandmother "Gram" was renowned for her baking, especialy cookies. She gifted me with a cookbook (Better Homes and Gardens) in 1968 when I became engaged, and wrote out copies of her famous cookie recipes for me. These treasured slips of paper have lived in an envelope taped to the back cover of that cookbook in my kitchen for the past 53 years.

I don’t know exactly how old this box is but it was made by my (Di’s) Grandfather (1876-1945) so it’s most likely well over 100 years old. It’s part of a group of five highly decorated wooden boxes he made that have been left to me. Worth noting is the long screw thread which works perfectly. He was a motor mechanic by trade but his father was a cabinet maker so I guess the lathe and tools were to hand.

We have three plants this year. Heirloom tomato varieties grow true from seeds. We save some of the seeds every year. Taken by Edgar.

Fifth and last image in this flower series...

Heirloom seeds and plants refer to plants that have not been hybridized and are 'pure' and usually very old as a species.

Whether the petunias above are true heirlooms, I'm primarily referring to the nostalgic and Old World feel of the image style and look that I presented here. The softness, the low saturation, and the framing all contribute to this feeling and style.

I can see this one hanging on a wall somewhere...
