This medieval street in Coventry's conservation area is called

HIll Top, Which is what the whole conservation area is called today.

This photograph was taken with a Canon EOS R mirrorless camera and a Canon FD 24mm F2.8 S.S.C. lens which was introduced in 1973, it is very well built and a bit hefty at 330g but super sharp.

During WC's last winter I caught plow 315 being pushed by 7510 eastbound near Dryburg on the morning of January 10, 2001. There had been some pretty hefty snow accumulation already during this winter and the plows were out and running early and often.

#Hubble30 A colorful image resembling a cosmic version of an undersea world teeming with stars is being released to commemorate the Hubble Space Telescope's 30 years of viewing the wonders of space.

In the Hubble portrait, the giant red nebula (NGC 2014) and its smaller blue neighbor (NGC 2020) are part of a vast star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, located 163,000 light-years away. The image is nicknamed the "Cosmic Reef," because NGC 2014 resembles part of a coral reef floating in a vast sea of stars.

Some of the stars in NGC 2014 are monsters. The nebula's sparkling centerpiece is a grouping of bright, hefty stars, each 10 to 20 times more massive than our Sun. The seemingly isolated blue nebula at lower left (NGC 2020) has been created by a solitary mammoth star 200,000 times brighter than our Sun. The blue gas was ejected by the star through a series of eruptive events during which it lost part of its outer envelope of material.

I had a really interesting time shooting this in the street with my mother the other day! Luckily my neighbors know i'm a photographer and when they see me in the street waving my arms in the air they consider it "normal behavior".

I planned to go out yesterday after I heard a few days ago that there would be gale warnings with a hefty north wind along Lake Michigan, it was even better than I expected. I took over 600 photos so you'll be plagued with lake photos for a while, LOL!

Has to be a pretty hefty storm for snow to reach this far from lake Michigan. That means there will possibly be snow during the Ohio State- Michigan game in Ann Arbor.

While driving the gravel roads east of Tofield I came upon these two young hawks. This is a hefty crop without any reduction in size at all. I do have another shot of just one of them that is better, at least technically that I intend to post tomorrow, but I really liked how these two were sticking together and seem to be just chillin'. By the feathers strewn about and the condition of the blue stringing, I would assume that they have been occupying this particular bale for some time.

I hope you'll enjoy the my images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

The great white pelican - (Pelecanus onocrotalus) also known as the eastern white pelican, rosy pelican or white pelican is a bird in the pelican family. It breeds from southeastern Europe through Asia and Africa, in swamps and shallow lakes. A large white waterbird with a hefty bill and a yellow-orange throat pouch. Note the pink bare skin around eye that extends towards the bill. Young birds have browner overall plumage relative to adults with brown upper wings and a brown head. Legs are pink. In flight shows dark flight feathers which contrast with the rest of the wing. Often seen fishing cooperatively, swimming in a wide arc to round up the fish and then scoop them into their pouch. Male Great White Pelicans are slightly larger than females. Males measure 175 centimetres in length, and females 148 centimetres in length. Males also have a slightly longer beak/bill which measures 35 – 47 centimetres, while the female’s is 29 – 40 centimetres. The weight of the male Pelican is 9 – 15 kilograms and the female 5 – 9 kilograms. Both have a huge wingspan of up to 3 metres wide.Great White Pelicans are white in color with black and grey primary feathers. Their bodies are large with long, broad wings attached. They have a short tail, short, pinkish legs and webbed feet. There is a bare pink/yellow facial patch around their eyes. Their spectacular bills are azure blue on the top and yellow underneath where there is a large pouch. The bill has a central red stripe, and ends in a small, red hook.

The Great White Pelican’s chest and throat may have pinkish or yellowish/orange coloration depending on the breeding season. In breeding condition the male has pinkish skin on is face and the female has yellowish/orange skin. The Great White Pelican’s huge, long bill/beak is used to scoop up fish from the water. The pouch under the beak is stretchy and can hold several litres of water. As the Pelican pushes its bill underwater, the lower bill bows out, creating a large pouch which fills with water and fish. As the bird lifts its head, the pouch contracts, forcing out the water but retaining the fish which are swallowed whole.

Gölyazı village is one of the most beautiful and oldest villages in Bursa. It is located 40 km from the city center of Bursa in southwestern Türkiye. Gölyazı, which developed in the Roman period, has a rich history reaching back to the Byzantine period. Plenty of Byzantine empire coins were found in the region. Furthermore, during the Ottoman period, Gölyazı village served as an inner port where the commercial products of the region were transported from Uluabat Lake to Marmara by waterway. Every year the town holds the Stork Festival and until the 20th century, Greeks and Manavs lived together. Gölyazı was founded by the Ancient Greeks and remains of the Roman period are abundant. There are many monumental buildings and structures in Gölyazı, especially historical castle ruins. Moreover, the islands in the lake are a separate source of richness. The village today has a mix of Greek and Turkish culture. There is an ancient cemetery on the edge of town. Moreover, the sites of the ancient theater, stadium, temples, and walls have been identified.

Mocha Latte

Published: Dec 3, 2023 · Modified: Dec 7, 2024 by Maria Doss ·

This Mocha Latte is the easiest and fastest! Forget high-end coffee shops and make it in your microwave using instant coffee, for a fraction of the price, using only 4 ingredients and in under 2 minutes!

Like the Peppermint Hot Chocolate, mocha latte is the perfect drink to warm you up on a cold chilly day!

What is mocha latte? Also known as a Mocaccino (alternatively spelled as Mochaccino or Mochachino), is a chocolate-flavored hot beverage made by blending chocolate syrup, coffee, and hot milk. Its name is derived from the city of Mocha, Yemen, which was one of the early centers of coffee trade.

Typically, coffee shop versions are laden with excessive sugar, artificial flavorings, and other ingredients that aren't particularly healthy. The price range for a mocha latte at Starbucks is typically between $3.45 to $5.25, depending on the size and location.

The advantage of making a mocha latte at home is that you can not only control the sugar content and use natural ingredients but also make it at a fraction of the cost.

If your mornings can never begin without a freshly brewed cup of coffee, then you will love this easy homemade recipe without a hefty price tag. However, there is something magical about that combo of coffee with chocolate, that makes is irresistible. Have you tried my popular mocha mug cake or in a cake form like the tirimisu tres leches cake.

ingredients needed to make mocha at home.

Coffee - Coffee shops like Starbucks usually make their beverage with a shot of espresso as the base. However, some variations might use strong brewed coffee instead of espresso. But, for the ease of this recipe, I used instant coffee granules, such as Nescafe Classico.

Cocoa powder - Like in my slow cooker hot chocolate recipe, I opt for Dutch process cocoa powder instead of conventional chocolate syrup or melted chocolate. Feel free to adjust the quantity of cocoa to suit individual preferences for sweetness and the intensity of the chocolate flavor.

Sugar - At Starbucks, a selection of sweeteners such as classic syrup, raw sugar, Stevia, Splenda, honey, or agave is usually on hand for customizing your beverage. You're welcome to choose from these alternatives instead of using white sugar as suggested in the mocha latte recipe.

Milk - Frothy, steamed whole milk is added to the espresso-chocolate mixture, creating a creamy and smooth texture in the drink.

Variations

Iced Mocha - Skip the last step of heating your drink after mixing milk. Pour into a glass filled with ice.

Peppermint - Crush a few candy canes to a fine powder and stir until completely dissolved. I like to break it into pieces and grind into a fine powder using a Nutri bullet or coffee grinder.

White Chocolate - Opt for white chocolate chips as an alternative to cocoa powder and consider decreasing the sugar quantity, as white chocolate tends to be inherently sweet. Have you tried this white chocolate bark?

Caramel - Stir in some salted caramel sauce or salted caramel sauce and reduce the sugar. Have more caramel sauce? Try serving with the apple hand pies.

Dulce de Leche - Use dulce de leche instead of caramel sauce.

Turtle - Use caramel sauce and top with crushed toasted pecans.

Cinnamon - Top your drink with a dash of cinnamon.

Vanilla - Add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.

Chocolate syrup - Use chocolate syrup instead of cocoa powder.

Latte vs Cappuccino vs Machiato vs Mocha

A latte is an espresso-based coffee beverage made with a shot of espresso and milk. It is known for its creamy texture, created by combining espresso's rich, bold flavor with a generous amount of steamed hot-frothed milk, often topped with a thin foam layer.

A cappuccino is similar to a latte but consists of equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam. Known for its balance between espresso strength and velvety milk foam, it's characterized by its creamy texture and often topped with a sprinkle of cocoa or cinnamon powder.

A macchiato, AKA caffe macchiato or espresso macchiato, consists of a shot of espresso with a small amount of steamed milk or foam. The word "macchiato" translates to "stained" or "spotted" in Italian, which indicates that the espresso is marked with just a touch of milk, creating a strong and bold coffee flavor with a hint of creaminess.

A mocha is much different from all the above because it includes chocolate, espresso, and steamed milk, typically in the form of chocolate syrup, cocoa powder, or melted chocolate. It creates a deliciously rich and slightly sweet coffee drink with a distinct chocolate flavor.

two hands holding a warm homemade mocha in a white mug.

How to serve?

Once your homemade mocha latte is ready, you can serve it hot as is or froth it, or you can add a dollop of whipped cream on top of the drink for extra richness or dust it with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings for decoration, like in black forest mug cake.

This homemade mocha latte is best enjoyed immediately when steaming hot. It's not advisable to prepare it in advance as the taste and the creaminess might change, affecting its flavor.

What's the best way to froth at home?

There are two ways to make your homemade mocha latte frothy like you get from a high-end coffee shop.

Using a milk frother - Froth using a hand held milk frother for a few seconds, just before serving.

Using a mason jar - In a large mason jar (or a medium one for smaller quantities), pour 1 cup of milk or ½ cup for a smaller portion and seal the jar. Vigorously shake the milk for 20-30 seconds until it becomes frothy. Remove the jar's lid and microwave the foamy milk, without the lid, for 30 seconds. Finally, pour the hot, frothy milk over the mocha latte.

Mallards are large ducks with hefty bodies, rounded heads, and wide, flat bills. Like many “dabbling ducks” the body is long and the tail rides high out of the water, giving a blunt shape. In flight their wings are broad and set back toward the rear.

Garbh Bheinn

The Cuillin in Skye have always captured my attention, whether Red or Black the combination of mountain and sea creates a magical spectacle and a visit to Sky always fills me with excitement! The northerly winds had brought snow to the northern half of Scotland and now a low pressure system was hovering over the northwest highlands! The day before on the drive through I had stopped in Glen Shiel and walked up Sgurr Mhic Bharraich, wading through drifts on the top and catching a little sun light between hefty showers!

I spent the night in Broadford contemplating what to do the following day… The forecast was varying between the different weather websites, with some stating the afternoon would be better and others indicating that the morning would be better! I had my eye on Garbh Bheinn, a Corbett in the Black Cuillin, not far from Clach Ghlas and Blabheinn, which I hadn’t been up before, however I didn’t fancy heading up in a white out!

A short evening walk along the shores of Broadford Bay revealed a starry sky and I looked skyward in the hope of catching some of the meteor shower… I saw two shooting stars and made my wish!

Breakfast as at 0730am at the hotel and I was up early to see which forecast was right! Stepping outside and everything sparkled- a deep frost had descended overnight and cloaked everything in ice! Anticipation was growing, although the stars shone here with the clear sky, it didn’t mean the mountains along the road would be clear! I set off and to my delight the skies remained clear as I drove the short distance to my start point near the waterfall at the head of Loch Ainort, the dawn light was revealing a white blanket coating the Cuillin Hills- to say I was happy would be the understatement of the year! I really couldn’t have asked for a better morning, the heavy snows of the prior days had left the Red and Black Cuillin decidedly white! The sky was blue, the mountains were white ad nobody else was on the hill, solitude seemed a little unfair however I was enjoying it all! The shooting star and wish the night before had held true;)

I made my way up the Druim Eadar Da Choire, all the while trying to make steady progress and not stopping every two steps to pick my jaw off the floor! Marsco was dominating the skyline ahead and to my right, the other Red Cuillin stood behind me watching my progress and all the while Garbh Bheinn was waiting to the southern horizon! These views were amazing but as I reached the top of the shoulder (489m), the Black Cuillin Ridge came into view- what a sight! I was lucky enough to summit camp on Sgurr na Stri when snow covered the Cuillin previously, however on that occasion the blanket was only half on – today the blanket was almost down to sea level. I spent a bit of time enjoying the view at the shoulder top and would’ve of been happy to turn and go home here – however I now had to cross from the Red to the Black and get my mountaineering head on! Garbh Bheinn, in comparison to other Black Cuillin peaks may be less technical and in the summer a easy scramble, however under a coating of deep, soft powdery, unconsolidated snow, I knew I was going to have to concentrate and perhaps not summit her today…. No one was on the mountain and a simple slip would have consequences- especially on the summit ridge where I knew the narrow ridge would test me….

Crampons on – ice axe out, I now headed up steep ground with some steepening sections

. The snow made everything look so festive but foot placements gave some surprises. The deep snow hid rock and scree and the fact that the snow was so powdery meant I had to take my time. Up I went and the views got better and better! Behind me and looking north I could see the weather was rapidly changing, the low sun to the south was still illuminating the white hills but the northern horizon behind grew darker and darker with the approaching weather!

Soon, I was about to gain the summit ridge! Pulling myself onto the final ridge before turning east and a new view came into sight as Blabheinn appeared in all its glory! I sat and enjoyed it, but not for too long – Galmaig and its neighbours had now been engulfed with the storm clouds and were disappearing from view- I needed to crack on! Probably a hop, skip and a jump in summer conditions, the final ridge was now a sharp snowy arête, the knife edge crest of snow hiding the rocks under the coating. Probing my way along slowly I had to circumvent a few small steps the axe a necessity ! Exhilarating and lofty it certainly was! Soon I reached the summit and the blue above was now replaced by grey as white flakes started to fall! Half way! The same amount of concentration was needed to retrace my steps and soon I stopped heading west and was headed north towards the car. The hills and mountains that had caught my gaze all the way up had now disappeared and a sheet of dark grey enveloped everything. The wind had increased dramatically and heavy snow now fell from the sky stinging my exposed skin! The blizzard raged around me as I descended! My plans (had the weather remained perfect) were to continue to Marsco, that was no binned as I fought my way back to the car! It wasn’t until I set foot back on the Red Cuillin that the snow started to ease so a couple of snaps and piece to camera before descent on the red part of the walk! The snow eventually turned to rain as I reached the car and a quick change into civilian uniform;)! On to the Sligachan and a soon I was tucking into a festive dinner in front of a roaring fire, trying to take in my day’s adventure – what a day, what a mountain – what a place….. Not sure I will have such a good day on the hill for some time……..

Wisconsin & Southern Railroad freight train T006 from Madison to Janesville crosses the Rock River near Edgerton on the bright spring morning of May 5, 2021. The three locomotives lead a hefty train of 129 cars.

Well this shot is a combnation of way too much beer and brandy last night!! Suffered this morning though with a hefty hangover!!!! That i'll teach me!

My favorite local around, F715 soars above the Contentnea Creek swampland on its way to Du Pont Sonora. As per usual on Mondays, the train is pretty hefty, with over 20 cars. A pair of GP38 variants, a dash 3 and an ex Conrail dash 2, have been the power for this train for a couple months now. Unfortunately due to school, I won't be able to see this train until November. However, the lighting at that time of year will be nothing short of pristine for this and virtually every location along the AA Line.

Despite the drizzle and the salty humid haze I decided to hike into the woods west of Sellin. There is a stop in the grade, aptly named Sellin West. It's a nice show when a train stops to pick up passengers, even more so when the rails are wet. The cute 99 4802 was my favorite during the week on Rügen island for it was always seeming to struggle with the load compared with the hefty 2-10-2 tank engines.

So here it is hammering up the grade only moments after leaving Sellin West. The summit in the forest at km 52.6 is a hidden gem well worth visiting.

Empty ethanol tankers bound for Marion, South Dakota take the Union Cutoff between the BNSF St. Paul and Midway Subdivisions with a route to the Wayzata Subdivision. A hefty storm just cleared out and dumped rain and some hail.

CN 394 glides under the signals protecting Paris Junction with a hefty train that includes a pair of NS leaders.

D407 & 50049 seen heading the Caladonien Charter blasting away from Carnforth. They were not hanging about! The light wasn't as good down the line hence this is a little more "polished" and a hefty crop from 70mm.

Fairly hefty crop, the closest I've gotten to a photo of one of these little beauties.

Fairchild Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II 80-0256 (A10-0606) FT 75th FS "Tiger Sharks" at KLSV hauling a fairly hefty loadout.

This lovely pastoral scene had a problem; the ground sloped one way and the clouds the other; this composition needed something to distract the eye - so how about a hefty Dutch angle, achieved in post-processing?

The hill in the background is called Tinto: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinto

A very light tweak of the sliders, but no other post-processing.

I've enjoyed the Blue Denmark pattern for many years. In the four decades I've been acquiring it, several companies in England and the U.S. have produced it.

The bread and butter plate under the scone has an old maker's mark. The mug has no mark or characteristic fluting. It must be fairly recent, but I have found them online under Blue Denmark at a hefty price. I bought 2 of these at a church rummage sale for $2.50 each.

Taken near my hide in Norfolk. (hefty crop on this!)

UP SD40N 1843 rounds the curve at Howard Avenue with a hefty and late-running MPRPR. A whopping 8 cars and 3 motors was paying the bills for the shareholders today.

Friendships require constant care and attention along with hefty doses of forgiveness. Thankfully I have found one person in SL that is willing to be that kind of friend and not a fleeting familiar...

INRD SAHW-09 crosses Tulip Trestle with a hefty train of containers in tow.

DL SPG1/PT98 combo drifts downgrade at East Stroudsburg around 4:10pm, a few miles from the NS interchange in Portland with a hefty 38 cars.

The fort in its present form was built in 8th century by the raja of Jaisalmir and Bahawalpur area. According to the historians there existed a fort here in prehistoric ages as well. Derawar fort was captured by Abbasis in 1735.

The fort has forty impressive bastions and has a circumference of 1500 meters, the fort stands thirty meters high.

The plains surrounding the fort were once watered by river Hakra which does not exist any more. This river was known as Saraswati in Vedic times.

There is a legend associated with the fort according to which a hefty treasure lies stashed away some where in its undergrounds chambers.

I was greatly disappointed to see its bastions and rampart crumbling down due to utter neglect by its present owners.

Going there and shooting its magnificent facade has always been an elusive dream for me until Feb 2106 on my last visit to Pakistan when I finally decided to visit Bahawalpur and booked a taxi on the very same day to this iconic fort.
