Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire

Trying to capture the impressive towering streets on the hills around the town.

An image of the fabulous Hebden Bridge Station, The station is on the Calder Valley Line, operated by Northern since April 2016 from York and Leeds towards Manchester Victoria and Preston.

The signage here is particularly interesting, Lancashire & Yorkshire vintage, it's everywhere, a wonderful evocative place, I could have stayed here all day (as it was I was here for a couple of hours). Hebden Bridge is a bit of a creative hub, so much so, the L&Y typeface is available marketed simply as 'Hebden'.

The arriving train is a new class 195, being introduced by Northern Rail.

An image of a TPE Saltburn to Manchester diversion, passing through Hebden Bridge Station, West Yorkshire. The station features many old Lancashire and Yorkshire railway signs, I tried to capture as many in the picture as I could.

Hebden Bridge Signalbox prior to closure on the 19th October 2018.Control passed over to the York Rail operations Center. A Lancashire and Yorkshire built box in 1891 with a 38 lever frame. Also included in the closures was Milner Royd ,Halifax and Bradford Mill Lane. These will or may have been demolished but Hebden Bridge is Grade 2 listed.

This is shot on Platform 2, looking towards a Leeds bound train. The lifts are a recent addition to the station, and the presence of which has been tastefully incorporated into the signage!

Passengers alight from the 1456 Manchester Victoria to Leeds at a wet Hebden Bridge station.

The 1893 station buildings are maintained in good order with an attractive Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway style signage.

In damp and drizzly conditions Northern Class 153 Super Sprinter DMU 153307 gives Class 158 Express Sprinter DMU 158872 a push as they depart Hebden Bridge station working 2I19 14.38 Wigan North Western to Leeds.

At this time just 2 services daily were diagrammed to be worked with a Class 153 and within 2 months of this photo being taken all remaining members of the class had been withdrawn and sent packing to Ely Papworth or Long Marston for storage.

153307 has now been transferred to the Transport for Wales fleet for conversion to a bicycle coach for work on the Heart of Wales line and when it re-emerges will be numbered 153507.
