Sessler excavator on a construction site at which a new bridge is being built across an underlying road, replacing an obsolete railroad bridge that was beyond repair. The bridge will serve the rail trail that now crosses through this area. The "steps" at lower right will provide the anchor for one end of the deck of the bridge.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I forgot to take my tripod with me on this photohunt so I used a tabletop tripod my boys gave me the other day. So the camera is placed 5 cm / 2 inches above the ground.

With four locomotives and a lengthy train destined for interchange with the BNSF at Sweetgrass, MT, CPKC C18 makes its way through a farm field near Stirling, Alberta. In the foreground, a Massey Ferguson Hesston 4910 "big baler" rests, awaiting its next task tending to the fields of southern Alberta.

Work is being done at the Point No Point Lighthouse to rebuild the retention wall. There was a backhoe loader parked on the sand in front of the Lighthouse Keepers quarters when I was setting up the camera. It swung into action about the same time that I opened the lens. If you look at bottom right section of the tree there’s a section that looks like a right angle of light, that’s where the backhoe was located, it’s invisible. The photo is on direct positive paper that was developed in camera using Eco Pro developer and fixer.

Crews from Hulcher Services, R.J. Corman, and CSX work to remove derailed cars from an accident that happened New Year's morning when an intermodal train moving east on Track 1 went off the rails and sideswiped locomotives on a coal train stopped on Track 2. There were no injuries but the mainline was shut down for about 24 hours.

Looking up the length of a crane boom. Direct positive paper, developed in camera with Eco Pro developer and fixer.

New road construction in Solivita.

This was a nice little surprise, there was a small handful of abandoned equipment right on the edge of the road, so I snapped what I could get from the roads edge without trespassing.

Macro Monday: new

Rust never sleeps. The old steam shovel on the bank of the Roundout Creek near Kingston, NY is slowly being erased from existence. At this point in its life it seems to be serving as shade for pigeons.

The Niagara Falls transit garage & offices where demolished this summer to make way for an empty lot (not a parking lot just one that 's post 'no parking-no trespassing'.

The demolition took months and months, but has also been finished for months, so I guess I'm kind of late getting these out.

There MAY even be a video coming, at some point in the future.
