This colourful rainforest scene was seen at dusk on the 3km hiking track of the first national park in the Australian state of Queensland, as declared in 1908.
The track's circuit lies in hilly forest/bush terrain at Mt Tamborine. The name "Witches Falls" though had a more pleasant and benign naming history than the Hells Gate Lighthouse name (previous pic).
It originated with the then kids of the mountain settlement. They thought some of the forest branches looked like witches' brooms when walking home at dusk.
All in all, it was a great hike with very interesting and beautiful rainforest scenery, and the usual beautiful bird sounds (hear treat listen on vid below), on a moderately challenging track in some steep places.

From my archives: I took this photo of our alpine guide who did a great job helping us avoid the deep crevasses as we hiked on the Vatnajokull Glacier in Iceland. What a great experience it was hiking the glacier at sunset! Can't wait to be able to go back.

Got up earlier than usual for my early morning walk, when I'm at home at North Stradbroke island (Moreton Bay, off Brisbane, Australia). The sunrise featured and the reflection was a great way to start the day! :-)

After a long summer the swells start to pick up out in the southern ocean and when they hit landfall it can get spectacular ,you just gotta be there.
These Beauties have given consistent colour to my Allotment all summer and are still going strong and looking very healthy, from now on they will be a regular in my garden
I have been a vegan since 2012 and have since discovered a whole new lifestyle with nature close at heart. I have always loved being out among green, all kinds of creatures and of course getting food fresh straight from the source. Since I´m visiting my parents, today was a perfect day to show how blueberries grow in true nature in the beautiful landscapes of Finland.

I was feeling so accomplished this morning. I got up at 5:40, went to Jazzercise, stopped by the grocery store and set up to take my image all before 8:00. You wouldn't think this would have been that hard to put together but fruits and veggies are roundish and want to roll away so I had to herd them back into the pile. I had it all set up, snapped a few shots only to discover I had things in the frame that weren't supposed to be so I had to rearrange and shoot again. Working on my mmmm Monday series. Wishing you a delicious rainbow today!

Dunedin, NOVA ZELANDA 2023
The Dunedin Law Courts is a notable historic building in central Dunedin, in the South Island of New Zealand. They are located at the corner of Lower Stuart Street and Anzac Square, directly opposite the city's historic railway station. Since 1902, the building has been used as the city's law courts, and contains four court rooms, including the ornate High Court, as well as housing the offices and library of the Law Society.
Architecture:
The Law Courts building was one of the first major works to be designed by Government architect John Campbell, and was built in 1901–02 at a cost of £20,000 and opened in April 1902. The Law Courts are located alongside the former Dunedin Central Police Station, another Campbell building, though in a completely different style. While the 1890s police station (which was actually the city's gaol for most of its existence) was deliberately modelled in a Queen Anne style uncommon in New Zealand but designed to imitate London's New Scotland Yard (now the Norman Shaw Buildings), the Law Courts are in decorative but stern Victorian Gothic style similar to the buildings of Dunedin's University of Otago Registry Building.
As is common with many of Dunedin's more substantial historic structures (including the railway station opposite) the Law Courts are constructed of dark Port Chalmers breccia ornamented with lighter Oamaru stone, a local compacted limestone mined to the north of Dunedin, and is topped with a roof of slate and granite. The main entrance to the court sits at the foot of a short tower which is decorated with an un-blindfolded statue of Justice in Italian white marble.
Historic precinct:
The building has a category I classification on the New Zealand Historic Places Trust register of historic buildings. The courts, the railway station, the former police station, and the nearby Allied Press Building and buildings of the Toitū Otago Settlers Museum together form an impressive precinct close to the heart of the city, stretching south along the city's one-way street system (part of State Highway 1) to Queen's Gardens and up Lower Stuart Street towards the city centre, The Octagon.

One of the city's most historic public houses and hostelries, the Law Courts Hotel, is located close to the courts in Lower Stuart Street, in a large Art Deco building (also listed by the Historic Places Trust, Category II) directly opposite the Allied Press Building (the offices of the city's main newspaper, the Otago Daily Times). The prime location of this hotel near these two premises has greatly contributed to its history, as has its longevity (having originally been founded as the Auld Scotland Hotel in 1863).

It's interesting to watch this Northern harrier hunt while life and traffic goes on all around her. Approaching her perched is hard, but she'll fly within a few feet of people on bikes, cars, etc.
