Spiral Staircase in the Heals department store in London, also known as brewer staircase. I liked to play with the angle until the stair looked like an eye.
The light ripples
The loving waters of time
Painting their curves and sway
Upon the Sand of us
Until the tide rises
And all is washed clean again
Another repost
Designed by the architect Cecil Brewer, the spiral staircase was completed in 1916 with an echoing helix of lights installed after World War II. A refurbishment in 2013 saw this design landmark restored to its former glory, with a bespoke Bocci chandelier.
Now complete with comfy sofas and a wide-screen TV!
