The beautiful Great Curassow female sports an elaborate headdress that really makes her quite handsome. The male also has one but his coloring is all black with the yellow on his beak. Certainly an added beauty to any garden and great fun to see !!!

Another shot from Richmond Park but this one was taken this morning on my second visit.
We'd gone for sunrise but the weather decided not to play ball, so after coffee and a bacon roll at Pen Ponds Cafe, Clair and I went on a hunt to find the Deer.
There was a huge group of stags up the hill a little bit and we spent most of our time there this morning shooting these guys.
We saw this fine stag who was obviously having a bad hair day and so I got a few shots off before he tidied himself up.
Today I unearthed many, many shells around the flat. All shapes and colours and I kept taking pictures, but nothing really satisfied me. Then I realized that this African statue with the shell headdress looked right back at me. It said "use me". The shells in view are about 2 inches plus the wooden bit is less than 3".
I might share some of the other shell images during my "sheltering in place".
My cousins gifted me with a wonderful Portuguese hat crafted from very special sheep's wool that I shall wear with pride on my return to Canada. A number of other portraits of men with hats taken over many years and many visits to Portugal are in the first comment box below. (No, that is not me in the photo above and my hat is a very different style from all of the ones depicted in the portraits.)
We are soon returning to Keefer Lake ... our months here are coming to a close. It has been a great pleasure (to avoid a bit of the harsh Canadian winter) and an even greater privilege to spend time in this marvelous country with these marvelous people. Cheers!

Another oldie from Myanmar; a lady at a market near Inle Lake wearing traditional headdress.
I actually thought I'd already uploaded this but I couldn't find it on my photostream, strangely, as it's one of my favourites from Myanmar. Must have travelled somewhere else :)
The pouf, also ‘toque’ (literally, thick cushion) was a hairstyle and hair support popular in 18th-century in France. It was popularised by Queen Marie Antoinette. It ranged in height from 30 to 60 centimetres, and was also a very sophisticated and creative headdress, featuring ornaments and decorations such as feathers, pearls, animals, bows, boats and other novel elements.

Da kam er nun extra aus dem Unterholz um mir seinen neuen Kopfschmuck zu präsentieren. Nein, nicht das Geweih sondern sein Diadem aus vertrocknetem Gras. Da ich offensichtlich nicht sehr beeindruckt aussah, zog er enttäuscht wieder von dannen. Jedoch nicht ohne mehrfach kräftig zu röhren. Da war ich dann doch beeindruckt.
He came out of the undergrowth to show me his new headdress. No, not the antlers but his tiara made of dried grass. As I obviously didn't look very impressed, he left again, disappointed. But not without roaring vigorously several times. So I was impressed after all.
