One of my favorites... as you can probably tell by this shot, these guys are wonderfully tame and very curious, which leads to very close approaches. It's a shame their spring migration doesn't last very long in this area.

This Golden-headed Cisticola has become a regular sighting in the Sneydes Rd Paddocks.
I won't have a lot of time for Flickr for the next few days. Will catch up as I can.
They have black heads only in spring and summer time, but in winter time their heads are white.

After a decade I have Brown headed nuthatches visiting my place again. They zip in and grab one seed and fly up to a limb and crack it and eat it and then down quickly for another. Welcome back nuthatches. Labor on.

While camping at Durgin Lake in Khovd Western Mongolia we were treated to an impromptu concert by a family of musicians and throat singers right on the shore of the lake - very fun!
Wild Teasel seedheads (Dipsacus fullonum) look spectacular even when all flower petals fall. Interestingly, the plant name ‘teasel’ derives from an old English verb "to tease" as its robust dried heads were used in the textile industry to raise the nap on woollen cloth in the past. Primrose Hill Community Woodland. Bath, BANES, England, UK.

The cold that is gripping much of North America has our Atlanta GA temps in the teens this morning.
Yellow-headed blackbirds are not entirely uncommon west of the Cascades but they usually stay well clear of people. For whatever reason, on this day in late April, I was able to get close. A nice treat! Apparently this was an aberration as on several days since they stay at least 50 yards away.
