Edinburgh University's Old College houses parts of the University's administration, the University of Edinburgh School of Law, and the Talbot Rice Gallery. Originally called the "New College", it was designed by Robert Adam in 1789 to replace earlier buildings.
Adam unfortunately died in 1792 with less than a quarter of the scheme built. W H Playfair was appointed in 1816 to complete the buildings. He reorganised Adam's scheme, which was completed around 1820. As funds ran out, the courtyard was never completed and paved.
Architects Simpson & Brown was approached in 2005 by the University to complete the scheme. Their historical research established that there were no original drawings, so the paving, in Hazeldean stone, was designed closely following the precedents of Playfair's other Edinburgh buildings. A central grassed area was also incorporated to soften the space, and make it more suitable for events and performances.

Stittsville, Ottawa, ON, Canada
Originally a log farm, the gingerbread trimmed home (now an Italian restaurant) had quite the history. In 1824, the east side of the farm belonged to Edward Bassett while the western side was acquired by William Kemp in 1828. William Kemp’s widow, Margaret, operated Kemp’s Tavern from her log farmhouse on the same site. The house was a lively centre for livestock auctions and fairs, where farmers and teamsters rested, fed and watered their animals along the road from Ottawa to lumber towns along the Madawaska, Bonnechere and Mississippi rivers.
When Fenian raids from the American branch of the Irish Revolutionary Brotherhood were expected in 1866, Kemp’s became the mobilising centre where volunteer recruits formed the “Carleton Blazers” and were supplied with uniforms and arms. The raids later occurred near the American border but didn’t get this far north.
In 1868, Margaret replaced the old log tavern and built a three-storey gabled mansion. Her son John employed James Scott of Richmond who helped replace the family’s log home with the stone building which cost $5000 for the 16 room home. Her guests, however, stopped arriving after the railway bypassed Stittsville in 1871 and the stagecoach found itself out of business.
Over the years, the quarry stone home has been an Anglican retreat house, and a dairy farmhouse. All of the buildings in Stittsville were destroyed in 1870 during the Great Fire, except for the stone house on the road to Hazeldean, known as Kemp’s Tavern.

I should have taken the make and model of this old car as the good ornament is pretty cool. They sure don't make hood ornaments like this anymore.
Update to my post. Looks like it's a 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air.

....while the morning was calm and warm, I took a stroll to a small reserve at the end of our street to capture autumn shades, leaves and shadows. A great place to sit and ponder the past or to view the changing seasons.
The Homestead was built in the 1930's with many additions through the years. It is still in use as a home.

Went to the Cruise Night car display at the Hazeldean Mall. This is where doing a 365 sucks as you can only display one shot, and there were so many good one to choose from, with all these beautiful cars.
On a separate note, this was taken with the Fuji X-E1 and again, I continue to be in love with this camera. The main reason, beside the beautiful files it produces is just the lightness of being. Walking around with just a small camera and two lenses is very liberating.
