Stuff collecting on my desk, the Brownie Hawkeye is an early model with the metal film wind knob and no flash connection. This camera was made in Canada and was probably manufactured between 1949 to 1951.
A Fleet Week Saturday aboard the USS Nimitz.
The day began at San Francisco Airport, where I boarded a US Navy C-2 transport plane at sunrise for a flight out to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which was cruising 50 miles off the California Coast. After landing on the flight deck, we disembarked for a tour while the ship sailed toward San Francisco to participate in the Fleet Week "Parade of Ships." Upon clearing the Golden Gate Bridge, the Nimitz launched three F-18s from the flight deck as we cruised past Fisherman's Wharf. From there we continued onward, under the Bay Bridge to an anchorage in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, just off South Beach. And then I had to go home.
It was a very remarkable day. Many thanks to the US Navy for extending the invitation, and the kind sailors who showed us around their ship!

The University of Iowa baseball team has had a good season, with a 39-16 record and nationally ranked. We were in Minneapolis and caught one of their games in the Big Ten tournament, which unfortunately wasn't so good as they lost to Indiana 10-2.
Hawkeye here comes with two bows. one can fold like so and the other one has a rope.
the one that can be folded can open up but does not have a rope. while the one with rope can not be folded.
i apologize for the reverse view (i dont know how to control the order of images lol) but cycling through this pic upwards (to the left) will show how the bow can be unfolded.

Hawkeye thinks this is the proper order of things...boy sacked out on the floor, dog sacked out on the couch.
Every fall and spring, while migrating north or south, buzzards spend a few days near our neighborhood. They often circle high above us or roost on our rooftops. Because, after all, we are a 55+ community and they’re probably hoping one of us will become their next feast. So, I decided to hire “Hawkeye Security” to canvass our neighborhood and keep a lookout for buzzard intruders. This is Maynard, our personal security hawk. He moves from house to house, keeping an eye out for no-goodnik vultures. He is quick to jump into action or call in backup whenever needed. So far, so good.
