Artist Statement:

Inheritance is a meditation on what we are given and what we cannot escape. The house is not a home it is a lineage, a burden, a structure that watches back.

Inspired by both Victorian architecture and Southern Gothic fiction, this piece explores the idea of intergenerational memory embedded in physical space. The lights are on but the warmth they promise is false. This is not where life begins, but where it gets trapped.

The figures in the windows are not ghosts. They are versions of ourselves we’ve outlived, or never had the courage to become.

The Light That Forgot explores the erosion of institutional memory. This building was once a vessel of purpose bureaucratic, domestic, or perhaps even spiritual but now exists as a closed-loop machine of forgetting.

The lightbulb at the top remains inexplicably functional, but its glow is neither warmth nor warning. It simply continues, like tradition, like paperwork, like belief.

The structure is scarred not by war or weather but by neglect. The wounds are quiet, interior. This is what collapse looks like when no one is watching.

This piece sits within my Civic Decay series a meditation on infrastructure as emotion, and buildings as embodiments of collective disillusionment.

Artist Statement:

Emergency Exit (Please) is a scream staged in stillness. A haunted room both decaying and theatrical becomes a psychological container. The words on the wall are not vandalism, they are confession.

This piece interrogates the aesthetics of mental confinement. The spotlight through the broken ceiling is cruel: illuminating, but not liberating. The broken furniture, skewed angles, and raw textures reinforce a state of rupture.

It is not a room. It is a condition.

This work is part of an ongoing series exploring how internal breakdown becomes spatial narrative how despair shapes architecture, and architecture reflects it back.

“Fire Escape Ballet (No Exit)”

The stairs go nowhere, but they were climbed anyway. This is the choreography of cities—vanishing doors, sealed windows, the lie of escape. Someone left the light on. Someone might come back. But the performance is over.
