The colorful entrance to the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. The glass facade has been inspired by the basalt landscape of Iceland.
Loved visiting and taking photos of the beautiful Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. This collage is a result of that visit. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail
Looking through the foyer wall to the cloudy sky, Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavik, Iceland. The repetitive shapes of the brilliantly designed windows, mimicking basalt rock structures, is innovatively interrupted by a few strategically placed panes of coloured glass.

It never gets dark in Iceland in summer. Sunset is shortly after midnight, sunrise is at 3 in the morning. I took this shot from inside the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland, shortly after sunset. Each window has a different color tone.
I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves.

Detail of a reflective panel inset into the side facade of the Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavik, Iceland. My eye was drawn to the way the panel reflected the columnar basalt-inspired main facade.

Harpa concert hall (2011) designed by Olafur Eliasson. A statue of the famous Scandanavian cellist Erling Blondal Bengtsson stands in front of the concert hall, Reykjavik, Iceland. The front facade of the building is formed from glass blocks designed to look like columnar basalt blocks reflecting the volcanic heritage of Iceland. iPhone photo.
The blue hour in the morning at about 06:38am of the Harpa Concert Hall reflected in puddles of water and ice.

It never gets dark in Iceland in summer. Sunset is shortly after midnight, sunrise is at 3 in the morning. The sun is barely beyond the horizon, hence the light. I took this shot of the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik about an hour after sunset. I love the all these colors and reflections.

A framed four panel collage of columnar basalt-inspired glass facade of the Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavik, Iceland. The way the light and shadows play on the glass blocks and the myriad reflections from each glass face inspired this creation.
