Silicon chips on an old Computer Hard Disk | Taken with the Nikon D 4 and AF-D Micro Nikkor 2.8/105 with three extension tubes
This is what a conventional hard disk drive (HDD, for the initials in English) looks like, once the lid of the box has been removed.
Actually this box contains 5 hard drives, one on top of the other, since you can see 5 read/write pins.
One of the most useful applications, once your hard drive has reached the end of its operational life, is to use those cute silver disks as coasters for drinks.
Of course, you have to clean them very carefully for the next use.

A 3.5″ hard disk drive's spindle with a platter. The `head' on the right side. The head assembly has been rotated a little bit for this picture.
HMM to everybody. :-)

I bought a little very cute USB external hard disk drive, 500GB. The stamp is from a letter which my boss received from Hong Kong. She knows that I love stamps, so she saves them for me.

Because of my persistent cold I couldn't run for two weeks. My first run after this time was really exhausting, although we didn't run very fast. Hope I will be completely restored very soon. ;-)

20 second exposure at F32. The binary reflection was created by displaying an image on my transformer tablet and the blue catch light was added using a blue gel over a LED flashlight.

My lowest capacity HDD that still works together with the biggest MicroSD Card I have.
The 8.4GB/5400RPM Seagate U8-Series ST38410A HDD was manufactured in July 23rd, 1999, and the 64GB/UHS-I Samsung Evo Plus MicroSDXC was made in August 9th, 2017.
A 18-year period looks like a century in terms of technological evolution, and this Seagate U8 with its rubber skin-suit is still the best looking HDD in my opinion...
I knew I had this 40GB ATA-100 HDD somewhere and yesterday I found it. It's installed on my modded Xbox (the first one). As can be seen on the numerous stickers, this HDD came installed on my Compaq Presario Desktop PC, but with its 4500RPM, it was painfully slow for general computer use but was a perfect fit on the Xbox, so there it is, full of custom content, emulators, ROMs and Xbox games backups for the past 16 years or so, still working, slowly, but working...
I thought this provided an opportunity to portray this modern terminology in context with "older" technology. The photo of the sky was taken the same day, and the two images combined.
Just for fun :-))

The Original Xbox was the first videogame console to feature a built-in HDD, and it was a pretty common Desktop PC's 3.5" IDE 8GB/5400RPM, like this Western Digital Protégé (WD80EB-28CGH1) of my first Xbox.
One thing that I never understood is the date stamp on the "Equipo de Programacion" (This Xbox was Made in Mexico) sticker. The date shown is '26 DEZ. 2002', but the Xbox was made in 29-DEC-2001 and I bought it in February 2002, so who knows...

Drive C is my existing drive, and drive D is my new one that I got today for my birthday. I copied all my TV shows over to D, so that's why it's half full already. :)
