Because of the clowns smile yesterday (see first comment box, in case you missed it), I was wondering why we smile and what makes us do so?

I have photographed lots of murals with 'smiles', so I thought it would be nice to make a little series about the difference in smiles.

 

What makes you smile?

Is it because you have a nice memory, or of joy or because a funny situation occurs….or… Just curious to know……

After yet another all day rain event, the transition to colder weather with a slight dusting of snow was a welcome reprieve from cabin fever and to get out on the trail again. To catch this POV, I stood at the edge of the rock with camera/arms extended and could just make out a composition on my LCD. It took a few tries but I had a patient model.

I love to do portraits, but don't normally post them on here. This is my mother-in-law. At nearly 93, she is still very active, going for walks every day, and always a smile on her face. This was a candid taken in the kitchen, so the background isn't what I would have liked, but I didn't want a pose...she was just smiling at me :)

Macro Mondays theme this week 02/03/2020 is "Brush"

so I used a furry little pipe-cleaner and an old length of white 15mm diameter water pipe.

I don't know if it's a Scottish pipe-cleaner, but the colours looked somewhat tartan like so that's why I thought .... Ah .... Scottish.

 

Well this little Scottish pipe- cleaner? seemed to love rubbing it's hairy bristles against the 15mm diameter plastic water pipe ..... so much so it bristled in "Pure Pleasure" .... 😸🎆

If there was a bagpipe handy I'm pretty sure there would be lots of squeezing, and blowing happening too. 🎶🎵

 

I would like my reincarnation to include me being a Scottish pipe-cleaner, "it looks such bristling fun."

She was briskly-walking up on a land-bridge, traveling between two bodies of water. She's fairly large (approx. 2 Ft x 1 Ft x 10 inches tall), although I have seen them just a bit larger. She seemed to have 'two-lives' on this beautiful bright day; one life 'in the water' and another 'on-land'. She wasn't afraid and seemed happy. I got right down on her (eye) level on the ground about 10-feet in front of her to get this angle. She just kept walking right at me. LOL I eventually had to get out of the/her way! LOL She stopped at the dirt-path to

look-me-over, and continued on her way down the far-slope and

into her 'Water-World'. And then she was gone! Thanks for looking.

My sister and I passed by this beautiful animal sitting on the stoop with his Daddy in the East Village. He was literally smiling at us, so we had to stop. Permission was granted for picture-taking, so we started snapping away. He was such a polite dog, sitting so very still for the camera, even smiling for a shot or two. Suddenly a glorious lightleak came, drawn by his wonderful charm the way we had been. See how he left ample room for not only this, but for anyone else who might see in those eyes that the invitation is more than open to all who stop by.
