Not done with the wild orchids yet! This is Orchis anthropophora, called the man orchid due to the resemblance of its flowers with a man figure (like Orchis italica, but not "naked").

The more sinister Portuguese and Spanish common names (erva-do-homem-enforcado / flor de hombre ahorcado) translate as "hanged man", and I was surprised to learn that the English common name makes no reference to the man's cause of death.

Bear in mind, if you are going to amount to anything, that your success does not depend upon the brilliancy and the impetuosity with which you take hold, but upon the ever lasting and sanctified bulldoggedness with which you hang on after you have taken hold.

A special post for my friends that need this reminder...

Repeat after me: "this is only temporary insanity. Things will get better. i will survive this because that which does not kill me makes me stronger.”

now breathe...deeply in....exhale, repeat.

smile. It is true that you feel better when you smile...and better still if you can find something to make you laugh...

and know that i am encouraging you and i’m here for you and you will get through this. You are smarter than you think and you are stronger than you know...i promise.

Just hang on.

:)

please.

Hang on

To innocence

With it

We can be

Anything

Anyone

Anywhere

But

Without it

All we are left with

Is

Taken in the Meon Valley, from the Old Winchester Hill ,East side.

Have seen these at this location before but wasn't able to capture them before.

We are back in Moab, now, for just one more day of Jeeping before heading down to Farmington, NM to meet up with family and friends.

I remember driving this obstacle the very first time. It was pretty intimidating. Now, after having my Jeep for 11 years and have driven this route many times, I don't bother with a spotter. I drive this one by feel; keeping the Jeep centered and level does the trick!

Also, as normal, the group rarely stopped long enough for photos, so there are just a few more from this route upcoming.

A little someone seems to be hogging all the 'bed'. :))

The Kittiwake is a strictly coastal gull. It spends the winter months out at sea.

The longer you hang in there, the greater the chance that something will happen in your favor. No matter how hard it seems, the longer you persist, the more likely your success.

love this photo, this chap was tootling along about 100 feet above us, I've had to use some cropping techniques and heightened the tone of the sky on the day as it was a little flat. I love the way the angles have worked out just right, well just right for me anyway..lol

Hang out is not Hangout, this word was used for many years, we could say, that in the 80s it was very common to hear young people say for example: "We are going to hang out" in itself is like visiting different places at the same time, where you find people that you know or want to know, now Google adopted this word but with another derivation which is hangout, but you certainly do not have to go anywhere, from your computer you do it or with your phone , I like the hang out more because the other one is from my point of view, fake, mine is more person to person, I think I do not have to tell what "Hangout" means. ☺
