Searching through a drawer yesterday I found this lovely feather which belonged to our previous cockerel (imaginatively named Cocky!)

He was a much loved bantam who had a gentle way with the girls. Unlike our present incumbent who, athough handsome, is a bit of a tyrant...and truly cocky!

You have to be in the right spot, and pelicans will swim by or jump on a stone without a care in the world. Unfortunately all the birds were close to each other, so one can see a cormorant wing, and parts of other pelicans.

He is handsome and he is the alpha male of the boer goats at a local park, the one who rules the roost. This goat is quite a character but very friendly too and he LOVES visitors.

Hornberg Castle or Burg Hornberg is a partially ruined castle located on a steep outcrop above the Neckar valley above the village Neckarzimmern, between Bad Wimpfen and Mosbach. It is the largest and oldest of the castles in the valley.[The original castle was built in the 11th century. It is notable as the stronghold of Götz von Berlichingen, who bought it in 1517 and died there in 1562. The castle was bought by Reinhard of Gemmingen in 1612 and remains in possession of the Gemmingen-Hornberg family today. It was uninhabited from 1738 and left to decay until 1825, when it was partially restored. It has housed a museum since 1968.

This Golden-crowned kinglet seemed to be posing for me. And who am I to say no,lol.

Right at the entrance to the Woodbridge Ecological Reserve South Unit, we spotted this beautiful hawk on a small pole. When we drove in he got frightened and flew off. Yet he flew right onto another pole and we were able to get some pretty good close ups. It’s always fun to get close ups, especially in nature. We saw so many hawks and other birds at Woodbridge it was a feast for the eyes.
