Denkmal für G. F. Händel
Marktplatz Halle (Saale)

Hej, wanna buy this old koffee grinder handle? I happened to find it... in someone's kitchen. Totally legal, believe me! You can trust these eyes!
Just silly me, trying to make some joke on the similarity of handle and Handel.

"Green meadows, wildernesses,
You will lose the beauty."
Ruggiero, in Handel's opera "Alcina". It is a strange text. In spite of life's alchemy and magic, and even love, it turns out that oblivion is the only certainty we have got. Who would have thought that opera can be subversive? Fuji X-E3 plus portrait lens.

Amsterdam - Egelantiersgracht.
The history of hardware store (Handel in IJzerwaren) Gunters & Meuser goes back to 1826.
This building on the Egelantiersgracht, with a shop, a warehouse and a number of office rooms, was built in 1917 in the Amsterdam School architectural style and designed by P. Vorkink & Jac. Ph. Wormse.
Completed in 2009, Handel Architects. 58 stories, 645 feet (197 m) tall. Tallest residential building in San Francisco. Engineers realized in 2015/16 the building was slowly sinking and twisting. Lawsuits followed. Engineers are now working on “underpinning” the building to stabilize it.

We used to call this a mystery rose because it was unearthed from a pile of rubble in our cottage garden some 20 years ago. And no-one knew what it was called. But I'm now
indebted to Rachel, who has suggested that the Rose is known as Handel. That has jogged my wife's memory from 20-odd years ago, and she has now remembered the name. It is indeed Handel. Well done, Rachel.
I made an amazing discovery yesterday which took me quite by surprise! Just a few yards from my office, in the Chapter House of Chester Cathedral, UK, I found this in a dark corner, under glass.
It's a facsimile of the original autograph score of G F Handel’s ‘Messiah’ (I‘m a bit of a GFH ‘junkie’!). The well-documented story is that on the way to the first ever performance of Messiah, in Dublin, Handel was delayed in Chester whilst waiting for his ship to set sail from the nearby port of Parkgate on the River Dee estuary.
So, he took the time to carry out some further work on the score, and this is a copy of that same score, in his own hand!
The words ‘Hallelujah’ from the famous chorus are seen here. Perhaps, in Chester, he was changing the words to ‘Ha-lle-lu-jah’ from, perhaps, ‘A-pple Crum-ble’, or ‘I love Cold-play’, or ‘Bi-lly Re-ed’! ;^)
