I had some ebony stashed away and attached it with screws. The trays slide very well even when loaded with tools. The ebony is supported by oak which is glued and nailed. This eliminated any supports on the floor of the chest.

This light little hand tool works brilliantly for cutting the clumps of weedy grass that are 5x taller than the rest of my "lawn." Seeds of Change sells it as the "Kama" but I ordered it, along with several other tools, direct from a Japanese tool importer to cut out a level of middleman: www.hidatool.com/shop/shop.html
This was a work-in-progress for a mechanical toy; I used sawed-off parts of wood clothes pins to make the points.
I used some kind of wood super-glue, so I had to work fast
and just eye-ball for accuracy of the positionings (it got kinda
messy, but it worked). The accompanying photo shows
the craft-store-bought small wood circles that sandwiched the gear.
