I love to cook, and I love to sew, but I really don't like things to get too 'cutesy', and I was getting tired of looking at aprons and apron patterns that look like something Gramma might like, but which weren't very modern, and I designed this apron to emphasize that it's okay to have fun in the kitchen... I wanted something with a bit of humor, but still practical. It's fully lined, fully washable and dryable, because it wouldn't be very practical if it wasn't, hmmm? www.excellcrafts.blogspot.com

I made a pair of socks for my sis a lil while ago...and she's already worn holes in them! Fortunately the other hole is smaller than this one so it won't take so much effort to fix, but this one will take some experimenting. Granted, she does wear these socks ALL the time, I'm just impressed she already made such a big hole! :D But it gave me an excuse to buy a new toy to darn it back together, which will come in handy considering how many socks I'm making and have already made.
This fabric is Olive Primrose from Amy Butler’s Nigella collection but it reminds me of all the lovelies one finds in antique shops. There are primrose bouquets of powder blue, medium blue, porcelain white, and black coal resting on an olive backdrop. They are surrounded by flowers, leaves, and loops that remind me of ironwork. They are grey-green on beige. The lining is charcoal grey faux moleskin (vegan).
When I was a kid, after school I would hang around my mom’s printmaking studio on Magazine Street in New Orleans. Her studio was surrounded by mom and pop antique shops so full that it was hard to walk around them. I would spend hours in them exploring completely unaware that time had passed. That is how my love of all things old began.
