Joseph Bazalgette, 1887

Some moody looking clouds passing over Hammersmith Bridge in this long exposure shot. I say long exposure but it was only 11 seconds.

Thanks to London Lights, whose recent shot from the opposite bank of the Thames reminded me what an interesting bridge this is to photograph.

Hammersmith Signal Box at the Midland Railway Centre, 24th August 2008. The box was originally located at Kilby Bridge, between Leicester and Market Harborough and was built by the Midland Railway in 1900. The box is a Type 3b design and was fitted with a Midland Railway 32 lever tumbler mechanical frame. The box was closed on the 29th June 1986 when the area was re-signalled to Leicester PSB and I paid my one and only visit to the box on that day as part of the re-signalling works. The box was dismantled and moved to the Midland Railway Centre in July 1986. It was originally acquired for use at Swanwick Junction but it was decided to install it at Hammersmith where it was rebuilt in March 1987and commissioned in September 1989.

Having to upload this from another PC and location since my own PC at home is preventing me fom viewing my own images as well as my contacts. This has been very frustratng for me but I'm still around although not shooting as regularly as in the past.

An HDR composition.
