Julie stayed and visited with Mary Clark and me. Then she used my camera to snap this pic of me. Yuck!!!!!!!!!

Not that my mother looks bad, but this is the first time that I've ever noticed a resemblance with me and my mother. I think this angle shows that I've got the nose from my mother's daddy's side of the family. Oh well! It works.

A young lady who enjoys playing soccer came to the hairdresser with a photo of the haircut she desired. The young lady was pleased when Jan completed the cut. For all the hairdressers who wanted to see the process.

Can you find all 4 of me?

Floyd Golden is my hairdresser. He cuts hair like no one else in the world, probably. He picks up the hair with a comb and runs clippers across the teeth of the comb. He is a former paratrooper and was in the military police years ago. He had barber clippers and sometimes cut other people's hair. It wasn't until he volunteered to help out a girlfriend/beautician that he realized he was talented with cutting and styling women's and men's hair. He has been in some tough situations in the past and is NOT someone to tangle with now. Mostly he just harrasses (in a good way) the women who work in his shop and the customers and their children. Famous People He's Cut/Styled Hair: Sonny Shroyer, Burt Reynolds, a Mrs. Georgia, and Wayne Rogers. (And....:) My Husband and Me!!)

Taken with my Motorola RAZR v3c camera phone and sent by email to flickr. Actually I took several with my Nikon Coolpix S7c camera, but they were TOO clear. I preferred the blurriness of this one. HeeHee!

My hairdresser's husband is still in the hospital after having had triple bypass surgery. I'm blessed that Floyd agree with my husband to fix my hair once again. I'm the only customer of hers that he will do. Praise God!

365 Days

Mary Clark puts my hair on rollers/curlers.

After washing my hair and waxing my brows and upper lip, Mary Clark adds setting gel to my wet hair.

I had an appointment early this morning to get my hair washed and set. That was fortunate since "Our Daily Challenge" for December 17, 2009 is SPLASH.

This will also suffice for my daily self-portrait since I need to be packing for our trip to Las Vegas in the morning.

After getting my hair set, I went to the mall and got lost. It took me a bit to figure out which place sells the make-up that I wear. Of course, I bought too much when I did find it. Usually I just send the empty container with Jim. I should have done that this time! After that I drove across town and got a seasonal flu shot at my doctor's office.

It's a little strange to be out in the marketplace during the daytime on weekdays. I suppose I will get used to this retirement thing one of these days. The students are having their Christmas party this afternoon.

#1 I went to Le Salon at 9:00 AM for Floyd to trim my hair. He wasn't pleased with the color and told me the color he wanted me to get the next time I have color put on. He doesn't like the red. He wants it to be light, sunny brown with a touch of auburn.

#2 Next I stopped in Books-a-Million and snapped my photo hoping no one was watching. It's the same bookstore where I set up a tripod and took my picture with a magazine that had published 3 of my photos. Anyway, who pays attention to you in a bookstore?

#3 Then at 10:00 AM I went to Hair Clinic for Mary Clark to wash and set my hair. Mary Clark's husband has been transported by ambulance from Chattanooga, TN to South Georgia Medical Center's Rehab--after his stroke while they were there for a ONE NIGHT trip--NOT! I was playing with my Quik Pod while sitting under the dryer, and Jan decided to join me for a picture.

Then.......I went to Sam's Club. That place is so big. It takes me forever to find the few things on my list. I decided to gas up my car while I was already at Sam's. I then remembered that the other things I needed were at Office Max; so, I drove over there. There was a lot of traffic out around the mall area. I walked around Office Max and found a few things there. By the time I got home, I was pooped. Most of the stuff I bought was for Children's Church and school. I did buy me some warm socks to wear around the house, some ink for my new printer (just in case I should run out), and some 4 x 6 printer paper so I can print out some professional quality pics.

I'm always looking to see if the stores have something new that I've never seen before. Well, I saw something at Sam's Club. It is Polaroid PoGo. It connects to your cameraphone or camera and prints out 2 x 3 pictures on the go.

Random Question: Why do public restrooms have toilet paper that is the texture of crepe paper?

Floyd uses a comb and clippers to shape a lady's long hair. It will stack beautifully after he uses his own unique way of giving a hair cut. No one else in the world cuts hair like Floyd at the Hair Clinic in Valdosta, GA.

This is #21 in my 100 strangers assignment. Check out the 100 strangers website to see more pictures and people working on the same assignment!

My hairdresser, Mary Clark, at the Hair Clinic in Valdosta, GA said that she would help me with my 100 Strangers Project. She told me that the customer in the next chair was Bill, a lawyer. He works in Valdosta, but he is from Quitman, GA. He was in the middle of getting a haircut. I asked if I could take his portrait for my project, and he was very kind to pose even with the hair-covered cape around his shoulders.

He is one unique character who knows how to cut both men and women's hair using his OWN style.

After being a consultant trichologist to a prestigious Mayfair hair salon, the first Philip Kingsley Trichological Hair & Scalp Clinic opened in London in 1960. In response to demand for the service in America the Philip Kingsley Trichological Centre opened in New York in 1977.

These Trichology clinics provide a service encompassing both the medical and cosmetic issues relating to scalp and hair health. Each clinic is dedicated to providing expert advice and treatment for all types of hair loss and scalp problems, as well as hair problems from chemical damage to simply difficult, dull or limp hair. At the Philip Kingsley clinic we understand the distress that various hair issues can lead to.

The beauty shop has been decorated for over a year, and the owner has opened a new shop next door, The Pink Poodle. There are spaces for individuals to have their own products for sale--A French Market. I've thought about putting my photographs in a booth. The only problem is that I don't have enough time right now to "get it all together."

I took a photo of this same scene with my Nikon Coolpix 8800 one year ago. It can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/judybaxter/72466246/

Argan is considered an effective anti-aging oil due to properties such as the high levels of vitamin E /tocopherols (anti-oxidants help neutralise free radical damage, which is important for skin exposed to polluted Western environments) and saponins (skin-softening agents). Besides cooling and soothing inflammation, it is also reputed to help reduce wrinkles by restoring the skin`s hydro-lipid layer.
