The XE1 and the X-Pro are often compared to Leicas, but XE1 definitely seems more like the Olympus Trip to me. Anyway I had a broken Trip which I had already disassembled for my previous camera and decided it was time to see if I could make it work with the XE1. so here it is, C mount adapter, bicycle aheadset spacer and Trip lens. I also drilled a little recess and put a spring in to actuate the Aperture mechanism, which I hadn't done before. The pictures are quite nice, although its a little flary in the wrong conditions.

The best hacking is always done with a hacksaw! Microsoft's ergo keyboards are really great, but they extend so far out to the right that my mouse arm sits at an uncomfortable angle. The solution? Remove the guts of the keyboard, re-assemble, saw off everything to the right of the enter key, put everything back in, and fold the dangling circuitry behind the board and tape it there! Keyboard Maestro handles remapping all the keys I lost that I actually use to various combinations of Alt-<Something>.

After I modified my first keyboard this way, the persistent pain in my right shoulder went away within a week. This is my third such hack-job, after the one I use at home came out the worse from an encounter with a glass of water.

This is the Nokia 6250, heavy duty variant of the 6210 model. Features water- and dust-proof case, rubber inserts, sound level meter, automatic compensation of outside noise...but i don't care about all this!

Thing is that i needed that phone because of easily enabled "Network Monitor" that is, Field Test Mode. We are testing our mobile platform with network operator and for testing special software is needed. You can, of course, purchase the FT-enabled phones from Nokia but they cost 10 times the normal model. So i have modified it on my own.

Battery was completely dead and not repairable and it was not possible to get replacement so i took cheapest Li-Ion battery from the shelf, soldered it to the connectors and...the bastard didn't want to charge. After some reading and experiments with a digital multimeter i've found out that a resistor fixes the problem! Voila, i have functioning phone with Field Test mode.
