Peregrine Falcon- the last shot from our peregrine encounter. Not seen her for a few weeks now, she may have moved on sadly.
Frail but still standing, the Hundred Guinea Oak is now over 600 years old. William John Chute who owned The Vyne in the late Georgian period was offered a hundred pounds and later a hundred guineas for the timber.
He flatly refused to sell the oak which you can see for yourself at the top of the lime avenue.

The 'Hundred Year Stone' is a sculpture to celebrate the Centenary of the National Trust. The sculpture is made of a Glacial Boulder.
This MM theme went round and round (no pun intended) in my head all day. After an exhausting day and an accidental after-dinner nap on the sofa 😱, I decided on the simplest thing I could get my hands on. A thimble, which lights nicely and creates its own bokeh. I'm still not sure it's the best thing I could've come up with in the (rather limited) time I've had over the past week, but here it is anyway.
in Snaefellsns penisula, Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge is a natural formation, narrow fissure several hundreds of meters into the mountain, with a little river at the bottom After about 70 meters you meet a little waterfall and have to do some climbing to get farther into the mountain. That is as far as I have gone. Still it is incredible with the narrow walls several tens of meters high around you.
It was interesting watching a flock of well over a hundred of these redpolls foraging on the field weeds, then suddenly swirling into the air and seconds later returning to almost the same spot. Possibly the heavy winds of 40 to 60 km per hour contributed to this behaviour.

I see hundreds of Lapland longspurs every winter, but none of them ever look like this! Male Lapland longspurs could be mistaken for a dull brown sparrow when they're wearing their nondescript winter plumage and the transformation that these guys make into this striking spring plumage is amazing. This male has his bill full of bugs to feed a nest of babies that was tucked under that log. Those nestlings need to eat 3000 bugs every day so he'll be busy for the next couple weeks😄. Lapland longspurs are a common nesting bird around Nome.
Time flies by, it's already late spring and I'm still posting the autumn photos. I'm not even mad. I've discolored this one a little bit, it seem like a hundred years from then. Time flies by, not very fast, when you can't do anything and you're just hybernating to get through the time to another realm...
Hundred islands , Philippines
As we are near the end of our travel serie from the Philippines , one more time, the Hundred islands, the main highlight of our holiday.
It is a national park and a major tourist spot.
The islands, totaling 124 at low tide and 123 at high tide, are scattered in Lingayen Gulf. Only three of them have been developed for tourism: Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island.
The islands are believed to be about two million years old
The location is in Pangasinan in Luzon and the nearest city is Alaminos.
We have had a great time here, a beautiful view, good food and friendly people.
The beautiful small beaches, the tropical views, the many fish will always be remembered as one of the highlights in our life.
We choose Philippines.

Constructed over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun, and other pharaohs, Luxor Temple was the largest and most significant religious center in ancient Egypt. In what was then Thebes, Luxor Temple was “the place of the First Occasion,” where the god Amon experienced rebirth during the pharaoh’s annually reenacted coronation ceremony. Today, remains of this vast complex include the colossal Great Colonnade Hall, almost 61 meters long, with 28 twenty-one-foot-high columns, its decoration largely undertaken by Tutankhamun around 1330 B.C. Many of the temple’s sidewalls were torn down after the time of the pharaohs and recycled for building materials.

Must be hundreds of tiny flowers that form this cushion of pink flowers on the Schneehüenderstock. It took me a while to find out what they were, but my flower books in combination with photos from Flickr itself gave me the answer: Silene acaulis! They belong to the same family as carnations, but are adapted to growing at great heights.
This is one of my favorite Cypress Tree shots. I love how so many flowers are growing around this tree’s trunk ,distant from the shore or any close neighbors. It’s interesting how four of us shot this lake for the same amount of time, saw the same trees and flowers and all had a significantly distinct vision and interpretation on how to communicate the beauty of the place in our work. I think everyone would see the beauty but making a good image out of the chaos of color and form is a challenge. Keep in mind, I’m only showing you ones I like, not the hundreds more that hit the trash heap. Unlike film, like one of my friends shoots (big expensive film up to 8 x 10), digital allows us to take as many as we like, which costs only time and not money. Telopea speciosissima, commonly known as the New South Wales waratah or simply waratah, is a large shrub in the plant family Proteaceae. It is endemic to New South Wales in Australia. No subspecies are recognised; the closely related Telopea aspera was classified as a separate species in 1995. T. speciosissima is a shrub to 3 or 4 m (9.8 or 13.1 ft) high and 2 m (6.6 ft) wide, with dark green leaves. Its several stems arise from a pronounced woody base known as a lignotuber. The species is well renowned for its striking large red springtime inflorescences (flowerheads), each including hundreds of individual flowers. These are visited by the eastern pygmy possum (Cercartetus nanus), birds such as honeyeaters (Meliphagidae), and various insects.

This Milky Way photo was taken close to a popular beach with hundreds of visitors and cars by day and yet having an excellent night sky after the onset of astronomical twilight. The foreground was illuminated by the rotating lighthouse beam a few hundred meters away, thus providing a means of light painting of the scene.
Some of the most beautiful stories of ancient times refer to the silvery band of the Milky Way - a celestial river comprised by the light of billions of stars, that has traveled for thousands of years to reach our eyes. This majestic arc of light is more clearly visible on summer nights, when our gaze is towards the center of the Milky Way, which lies at about 25 thousand light years away - the brightest part of the band just above the tree and to left of the “Dark Horse” silhouette.
This band is bisected by obscuring clouds of interstellar dust, thus forming the “Great Galactic Rift”. The interstellar gas and dust gave birth to everything else in the Universe, including us - we are all made of stardust after all.

a A hundred years ago the winter snow was stored inside the igloo-house for hotels and bars in Funchal in summer, long before time of fridge and freezers...
Schon vor der Zeit von Gefrierschränken (um 1800) hat man auf der Insel in diesen Iglus Schnee für die Sommerzeit gelagert. Arbeiter haben das Eis dann nach Funchal über 1500m bergab an den Strand gebracht. das war damals ein großer Luxus und Alleinstellungsmerkmal.
