Peregrine Falcon- the last shot from our peregrine encounter. Not seen her for a few weeks now, she may have moved on sadly.

Hundred Avalokitesvaras (Hyakutai Kan'non 百体観音) are located in the Tsugaike settlement at an altitude of 700 m. These stone statues and stelae were donated by local well wishers for safety, health, prosperity etc. They were relocated to this place from their original roadside locations to widen old roads suitable for car traffic in the 19th century.
Avalokitesbara is a Bodhisattva of mercy, which is like a saint of Christianity. He became popular in China and translated to 観音 (Guan'yin). It was pronounced Kwanon and modified later to Kan'non in Japan.
There was a Japanese manufacturer who gave the name of Buddhist deity to its products. The company later considered to modify the brand name to sound more familiar to their international customers while keeping the existing Japanese customers. Kwanon was changed to Canon.

This MM theme went round and round (no pun intended) in my head all day. After an exhausting day and an accidental after-dinner nap on the sofa 😱, I decided on the simplest thing I could get my hands on. A thimble, which lights nicely and creates its own bokeh. I'm still not sure it's the best thing I could've come up with in the (rather limited) time I've had over the past week, but here it is anyway.
Smile on Saturday is a weekly stop of fun, smiles, laughs, chuckles and a HSoS!!!!!! This is one big smile but hopefully it will give "one hundred smiles"
Philippines , near the hundred islands
One of our main trips in the Philippines was to the hundred islands.
It is a national park and a major tourist spot.
The islands, totaling 124 at low tide and 123 at high tide, are scattered in Lingayen Gulf. Only three of them have been developed for tourism: Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island.
The islands are believed to be about two million years old
The location is in Pangasinan in Luzon and the nearest city is Alaminos.
We have had a great time here, a beautiful view, good food and friendly people.
The beautiful small beaches, the tropical views, the many fish will always be remembered as one of the highlights in our life.
We choose Philippines.
Time flies by, it's already late spring and I'm still posting the autumn photos. I'm not even mad. I've discolored this one a little bit, it seem like a hundred years from then. Time flies by, not very fast, when you can't do anything and you're just hybernating to get through the time to another realm...

As we are near the end of our travel serie from the Philippines , one more time, the Hundred islands, the main highlight of our holiday.
It is a national park and a major tourist spot.

Must be hundreds of tiny flowers that form this cushion of pink flowers on the Schneehüenderstock. It took me a while to find out what they were, but my flower books in combination with photos from Flickr itself gave me the answer: Silene acaulis! The windmills are the quintessential features of Mykonos landscape. There are plenty of them that have become a part and parcel of Mykonos. Visitors to Mykonos can see the windmills irrespective of the locale. From a distance, one can easily figure out the windmills, courtesy of their silhouette. They are primarily concentrated in the neighborhood of Chora and some are also located in and around Alevkantra. These innovative wheels were primarily used for crushing agricultural yields. In all, there were 16 such windmills in operation.
They are conspicuous by their snow-white color, spherical shape with the customary pointed roof made of the finest variety of wood. In the good old days, they were wind operated as Mykonos is renowned for their gusty wind, which continues to blow even today. The Windmills of Chora and the ones at Ano Mera were a great boon to the people of those localities and they were primarily used for grinding the agricultural products that were meant to be transported to places outside Mykonos.
As of now, with the advent of modernity, the windmills are no longer operational. But they continue to be a symbol of Mykonos rich virile past. Being hundreds of years old, most of the windmills have been thoroughly renovated and some have even been converted into museums, the most famous being the Bonis Windmill.
Mykonos windmills are a living testimony of the island's use of innovation when it came to tapping the enormous power of the wind to grind Mykonos agricultural produces.

Pas une, mais deux Chouette lapone! Le soleil venait de se cacher à l'horizon, nous étions aux dernières lueurs de la journée, une belle Chouette lapone quittait la forêt, pour se poser dans un conifère. Quelques minutes plus tard, elle débutait sa période de chasse. Durant ce temps, celle que nous avons observée durant un bon moment, chassait maintenant à quelques centaines de mètres de cette Lapone. Quelle fin de journée excitante en nature! Que du bonheurs!
Not one, but two Great Grey Owls! The sun had just hidden on the horizon, we were at the last light of the day, a beautiful Great Grey Owl was leaving the forest, to land in a conifer. A few minutes later, it began its hunting period. During this time, the one we observed for a long time, was now hunting a few hundred meters from this Lapp. What an exciting end to an outdoor day! What happiness!

I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw but I already figured that out. Anyway, you find this place by taking Beach street. It dead ends at the pier.
