Bordeaux, Port of the Moon, represents an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble, created in the Age of Enlightenment, whose values have continued up to the first half of the 20th century. Bordeaux is exceptional in the unity of its urban and architectural classical and neo-classical expression, which has not undergone any stylistic rupture over more than two centuries. Its urban form represents the success of philosophers who wanted to make towns into melting pots of humanism, universality and culture.

Looking for new friends.

Michel Ragon (Jan. 1996)

"Through the exemplary destiny of five young farmers today, Michel Ragon immerses us in the drama of our countryside crushed, squared, rolled by Eurocrats, engineers, banks, Parisian enarques... He tells us says the end of the Dochagnes at the end of a peasant story masterfully begun with Les Mouchoirs rouges de Cholet; the end of a world, of a harmony with nature; the end of a certain humanism which breaks before the brutality, often absurd, of technocracy and excessive industrialization.

A story of an end but also a cry of revolt so that the earth does not die.

This novel shows us how individual stories break on the cataclysms of an era, how a poignant feeling of revolt, desolation, fury rises, how "the memory of the vanquished" survives everything, even the wildest hope. The poppies will always come back. Michel Ragon engages as a great novelist in the torments of this end of the century to better bear witness to his time."

what do you think?

The original Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci and Banksy's modern reinterpretation offer a fascinating contrast in artistic intent, technique, and cultural commentary.

Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa

- Era & Style: Painted between 1503 and 1506, da Vinci’s masterpiece is a quintessential example of Renaissance portraiture, showcasing his mastery of sfumato (soft blending of tones).

- Subject & Expression: The painting features Lisa Gherardini with an enigmatic smile, a serene expression, and a naturalistic background, emphasizing harmony and realism.

- Symbolism: The Mona Lisa is often interpreted as a representation of ideal beauty, mystery, and the Renaissance’s pursuit of humanism.

- Technique: Da Vinci’s meticulous layering of oil paint creates de- pth and lifelike softness, making the portrait appear almost three-dimensional.

Banksy’s Mona Lisa Bazooka

- Era & Style: Banksy’s version, created around 2007-2008, is a street art piece using stencil techniques, a hallmark of his rebellious and provocative style.

- Subject & Expression: While retaining the original’s calm demeanor, Banksy’s Mona Lisa is depicted holding a rocket launcher, juxtaposing classical beauty with modern aggression.

- Symbolism: This reinterpretation critiques society’s desensitization to violence, war, and political unrest, turning the Mona Lisa into a symbol of defiance rather than mystery.

- Technique: Unlike da Vinci’s delicate brushwork, Banksy employs bold, high-contrast stenciling, reinforcing the immediacy and rawness of street art.

Key Differences

| Feature | Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa | Banksy’s Mona Lisa Bazooka |

| Medium | Oil on wood panel | Stencil graffiti |

| Era | Renaissance (1503-1506) | Contemporary (2007-2008) |

| Expression | Serene, enigmatic | Calm but menacing |

| Symbolism | Beauty, mystery, humanism | War, rebellion, social critique |

| Technique | Sfumato, soft blending | High-contrast stencil |

Banksy’s version transforms da Vinci’s masterpiece into a statement on modern conflict, making it a striking example of how classical art can be reinterpreted to reflect contemporary issues. Would you like to explore more reinterpretations of the Mona Lisa? There are quite a few fascinating ones!

To be the servant of the world does not mean being a slavish imitator of the world. Quite the contrary: it is to be so free from the world’s definitions that you’re free to offer God’s love quite independently of your own security or success...

...To be ‘blessed’ is simply to be where God would have you be: if you are aware that there is a place where God would have you be, then your state of mind, your achievement in occupying that place, the effects of your labours, all become irrelevant. ‘Rejoice, and be exceeding glad’ (Matthew 5.12, KJV): you are where God is, in the place of poverty, humility, peacemaking, suffering and longing for justice, and what matters is to be there faithfully.

The downfall of the attempts of governments and leaders to unite mankind is found in this- in the wrong message that we should see everyone as the same. This is the root of the failure of harmony. Because the truth is, we should not all see everyone as the same! We are not the same! We are made of different colours and we have different cultures. We are all different! But the key to this door is to look at these differences, respect these differences, learn from and about these differences, and grow in and with these differences. We are all different. We are not the same. But that's beautiful. And that's okay.In the quest for unity and peace, we cannot blind ourselves and expect to be all the same. Because in this, we all have an underlying belief that everyone should be the same as us at some point. We are not on a journey to become the same or to be the same. But we are on a journey to see that in all of our differences, that is what makes us beautiful as a human race, and if we are ever to grow, we ought to learn and always learn some more. - C. JoyBell C.

Nicholas of Cusa (1401 – 11 August 1464), also referred to as Nicholas of Kues and Nicolaus Cusanus, was a German philosopher, theologian, Catholic cleric, jurist, mathematician and astronomer. One of the first German proponents of Renaissance humanism, he made spiritual and political contributions in European history. A notable example of this is his mystical or spiritual writings on "learned ignorance," as well as his participation in power struggles between Rome and the German states of the Holy Roman Empire.

As papal legate to Germany from 1446, he was appointed cardinal for his merits by Pope Nicholas V in 1448 and Prince–Bishop of Brixen two years later. In 1459, he became vicar general in the Papal States.

Nicholas has remained an influential figure. In 2001, the sixth centennial of his birth was celebrated on four continents and commemorated by publications on his life and work. (Wikipedia) Bernkastel-Kues, Germany

New Lanark is a small 18th- century village set in a sublime Scottish landscape where the philanthropist and Utopian idealist Robert Owen moulded a model industrial community in the early 19th century. The imposing cotton mill buildings, the spacious and well-designed workers' housing, and the dignified educational institute and school still testify to Owen's humanism.

The logos thematized by the Greeks led man beyond his raw nature to the spiritual. Only then was his true humanity established. The Logos, who incarnated in Jesus Christ (John 1:14 EU), was also the basic principle of human education.

Stand On My Feet

I'm like a bombarded land

With a verse smeared across,

Life's last school desk

And (I'm like) an immigrant bird

I'm stubborn and my stomach can handle it

Just like Paul and his phony pound

I never received the love I gave

Fate wanted it that way

How will I be able to stand on my feet,

After so many blows?

I've forgotten the steps

But I can't say, "I can't"

I have to start dancing

In this enormous, cruel world,

Who really gets what they deserve?

I don't want to but I have this grievance

Because the wheels aren't turning

How will I be able to stand on my feet,

After so many blows?

I've forgotten the steps

But I can't say, "I can't"

I have to start dancing

How will I be able to stand on my feet,

After so many blows?

I've forgotten the steps

But I can't say, "I can't"

I have to start dancing

(You've all forgotten what it means to be human,

You only bother with,

Obliging to personal interests

Nothing else, just obliging to personal interests

We've figured you out)

But some, more equal...

The story begins in 1969. Two friends Charly García and Nito Mestre and in Charly's house, they joined their desire to do something different. In the early 70's, Sui Generis appeared. With a marvelous talent for writing lyrics and with knowledge of classical music, a genius in all his magnitude, Charly, unquestionably, has in his history, the most answering and deepest lyrics ever written. Nito Mestre, with a magical and angelic voice, guitar and flute, began the road to eternity. They were a reference for a whole generation. Today they are an icon of Rock music in Argentina. This photo led me to think of a song that could represent the image. My humble tribute to the most famous Rock band and a song: Confesiones de Invierno. The lyrics have a lot to say about that politically complex time. A small story in the life of an individual, like any other, where his failure was not being able to insert himself in society, with its consequences.

At that time, there was a dangerously growing climate, where violence was beginning to be exercised by obscure groups within the intelligence services. They began to create the ground for what was in March 76 the bloodiest military coup and the darkest era Argentina had ever lived through. Of course, as a result of the course that many saw approaching, Montoneros and the ERP were formed, which in the end, were the other ideological extreme. Many of their members had ideals deeply rooted in humanism, but unfortunately they had to resort to arms to defend the policies that allowed our society to have the best per capita income distribution of the 20th century. Perhaps that is why the military coup came to change the rules of the game.

Lyric:

Winter Confessions

She threw me from her room screaming

"you have no job!"

I had to face my situation

In winter there is no sun

And though they say it'll be very easy

It's very tough to be able to improve

It's cold and I have no coat

And the hunger of waiting weighs on me

Who will give me something to smoke

Or a house in which to live?

I know that you must be in the streets

But I don't know how to leave

And the radio confuses us all

Without money I won't do well

If the wolves eat my flesh up

I won't able to steal half from them

God is employed at a counter

He gives to receive

Who will give me a credit, my Lord? I only know how to smile

And maybe I hoped too much

I wish you were here

They'll close the doors of this hell

And I might possibly want to leave

I got some liquor and I got drunk

In the bathroom of a bar

I went to give the street a kick

And I felt very bad

And although I never had drunk

In jail I had to stop

A friend paid the bail

The wounds are from the officer

I've been here for four years now

And I don't want to leave

It's no longer cold and I'm happy

My room faces the garden

And although sometimes I remember her

I drew her face on the wall

I only die on Sundays

And on Mondays I feel well again.

Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm ...

revolutionary - no fence, no partitioning, open for all citizens and a natural transition to the villages and the agricultural landscape ...

In the mid-18th century, classicism emerged in architecture and it seems that the small gems in the landscape parks were the beginning before larger urban buildings took the lead.

Baroque and Rococo buildings would not have fitted into an English country garden either.

With the age of the Enlightenment began the memory of the Greek ancient architecture and the first democracies and also of the new view of the individual in the Renaissance.

Added to this are the important visual axes that show that everything is connected to everyone.

On the other hand, a new age of dumbing down and unscientific simplification seems to emerge in recent years.

I can't yet judge how this will be seen in landscape and urban planning ... ;-) ...

Leopold III Frederick Franz, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau was a strong supporter of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment emerged out of a European intellectual and scholarly movement known as Renaissance humanism and was also preceded by the Scientific Revolution and the work of Francis Bacon.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Enlightenment

It was through the Duke of Anhalt-Dessau that the so-called Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm came into being in the 18th century. This also included the park and castle Großkühnau, Luisium and Georgium in Dessau and castle Oranienbaum as well as castle Wörlitz and the Wörlitzer park.

The prince's educational intention resulted from the philosophy of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the aesthetics of Johann Georg Sulzer and the art theory of Johann Joachim Winckelmann.

We are all called to the mystical life. Mysticism is not an extraordinary way of being a Christian but the ordinary way. Mysticism does not refer only to the charismatic gifts, the gratiae gratis datae, but rather to the fullness of life in the Spirit, the life of the theological virtues and gifts of the Spirit, Aquinas’s habitual grace, gratia gratum faciens,576 all of which is ordinary even if challenging, a graced life but not “cheap grace.”577

Harmony, Force, Commitment, Strictness are the values of this sporting art which are renewed every day as the group trains and performs with energy and enthusiasm. The performance quality and team spirit are the basis of the work added to a modern approach and the passion of its young athletes, bringing to life the prestigious art of flag throwing.

We live in an era of nihilism. It has become so normal that we are blind to it. A nihilistic society has high divorce rates and rampant fatherlessness. A nihilistic society is promiscuous with high numbers of sexually transmitted diseases. A nihilistic society has drug and crime epidemics. A nihilistic society lacks morals and common sense.

Abortion, the killing of one’s offspring, is nihilistic. Calling a human fetus a parasite is nihilistic. Why would one lie and call a fetus a parasite? It is because nihilism is incompatible with the truth. The further a society goes into nihilism the more it despises the truth. Nihilists love to preach their gospel of subjectivism. Nihilists declare that there are more than two genders. Nihilists support euthanasia. With nihilism, life has no value. Nihilists claim that people are nothing but sacks of hormones. Without a doubt, nihilism degrades and dehumanizes people. The climate change (net-zero) agenda is nihilistic (anti-human). I have read LGBTQ literature, which states that heterosexuality must be abolished. This too is a form of nihilism. Supporting mass migration, as empires do in decline, is nihilistic. Indeed, supporting the demise of your children’s future is nihilistic. Feminism, with its hatred of men, is nihilistic. Woke-Marxism, with its oppressed versus oppressor, is nihilistic. Socialism ends in nihilism, just look at the Soviets and Nazis. Artificial intelligence is also nihilistic, the same with transhumanism.

Mao wanted to destroy the Four Olds: Olds Ideas, Old Customs, Old Culture, and Old Habits. Mao needed New Ideas, New Customs, New Culture, and New Habits to replace the Old ones. The old order must be destroyed and replaced by the new order. Violence is part of the nihilist revolution. Nihilism, the worship of nothingness, in its purest form will produce destruction. In the end, the madness of nihilism will lead to either world conquest or utter ruin.

“We will not capitulate – no, never! We may be destroyed, but if we are, we shall drag a world with us – a world in flames.” – Adolf Hitler

Nietzsche declared that God was dead, because modern man had lost their faith in God. The foundations of our society are based on Christianity. If we tear down our foundations, then our whole society will come crashing down. This would destroy the Old Ideas, Old Customs, Old Culture, and Old Habits. Our values and traditions would be gone. We would destroy our measuring stick of right and wrong, truth and lie. Without our foundations, we will lose our house.

The West has rejected God and embraced secular humanism. The fruits of this will end in total nihilism. In rejecting God, they reject not only salvation but the truth. Since they reject the truth, they will follow error to its logical end—destruction. Nihilists are at war with the truth, at war with God. They, like Nietzsche, want to murder God. They want to be like Nietzsche’s Superman. They want to replace God and be their own god. They want to live by their own truth. In their nihilistic gospel of nothingness, they want to turn the world into nothingness. God created the universe from nothing. Therefore, they want to turn everything into nothing and create their own world. They do not want the universe to revolve around God. They want the universe to revolve around themselves. Their nihilistic world of tyranny will be cold; it will be efficiently run by machines and technology. They are constructing an artificial (digital) world. Their utopian world will be so all-encompassing that no one will be able to escape. Moreover, they want to transform a human into a transhuman—Nietzsche’s Superman.

With each technological advance, man becomes both stronger and weaker. Every power gained is also a power that can be used against man as well. Every victory won, means man is that much closer to being the servant of the leader in charge. Those who reject Christ will serve the antichrist. They will become born again in the antichrist, a spiritual (transhuman) rebirth. 666: take the Mark of the Beast! The merging of man and technology will mean the abolition of man. Transhumanists want to merge man and machine to create a new being. They want to make a being through their technology, a being made in their own image. They want to end humanity as we know it. They are planning the extinction of man!

Nihilism is the inversion of Christianity. In the gospel of nihilism, the antichrist is Christ, and God the Father is the dragon (the devil). Yet those who reject the Mark and choose Christ will live. The nihilists, however, will spend eternity living in the nihilism of hell with their father the devil.

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I (Jesus) have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.”

you can get a very intense mood from the holocaust memorial

The pavement of the Duomo di Siena is an extraordinary work of art. It is made up of 56 elements, each designed by a great Renaissance artist and they include various scenes typical of the culture of humanism. They impress not only because of the whole but because of the amount of small details they contain.

Unfortunately it is not possible to see it always, much of the year it is covered. If you are fortunate enough to go to Siena between mid-August and the end of October you will be able to see it in all its grandeur.

Advice for sailors, although they say that the view from “La Porta del Cielo” is magnificent, you should not miss the detailed visit of each mosaic discovering its wonderful details.
