With more and more areas utilizing underground power and comm lines, I wonder if this configuration of service truck with a boom-mounted bucket has become rarer.

 

SRP is the electric power utility company in the Phoenix area. This was parked near the local Ace Hardware store that I was visiting at the time.

On a cloudy dull day

Steel power poles in Buchanan, Michigan. Indiana & Michigan Power (a subsidiary of American Electrid Power) replaced wood poles with these steel poles several years ago. Aesthetically, steel doesn't compare well with wood, in my opinion.
