The intersection of Cedar Ave and Highway 50 in Lakeville is always a great place for wires and trucks.

On a cloudy dull day

Steel power poles in Buchanan, Michigan. Indiana & Michigan Power (a subsidiary of American Electrid Power) replaced wood poles with these steel poles several years ago. Aesthetically, steel doesn't compare well with wood, in my opinion.

This telegraph pole has been promoted to antenna mast...

A roll-back truck, lots of poles and wires, and some gorgeous clouds. Lakeville, MN at the intersection of County 50 and Cedar Ave.

Couldn't leave Bogart out, of course.

The top of an old gate post at Leith Hall gardens.

Shot using the Lensbaby ComposerPro with double glass optics, with an F2.8 ring in place, and the telephoto optic attached.

I've used this Lensbaby lens for 2 years now. It was the only Lensbaby made for Sony E-mount cameras at that time, and I love it! There are quirks - for example you have to regulate the F-stop by dropping a plastic ring in front of the lens! Medieval? Yes - so you choose the Aperture setting carefully before you shoot! It came with a bundle of accessories including 2 macro filters, and telephoto and wide-angle optics. All are screw-ins; additions to the basic lens. But until this autumn I've used the lens with macro filters in my kitchen studio. I love the results, but I promised myself that this year I would take the lens out and about- and use it for outdoor shooting. I chose the coldest and wettest summer on record! So it has only been recently that I've been able to keep my promise ;o)

A trip to Leith Hall on Nov 1st was my first serious outing with the lens - and I decided to add the telephoto optic, to extend the range of shots I could take. I thought it would be warm enough for me to stand around and fiddle with the lens if focussing proved to be a problem (it can be really puzzling sometimes).

Of some dozen or so shots I took, this was easily the best - so this combo will be out and about again! It can get effects that are so distinctive - even if my results are rather erratic Hope you like the shot.

Happy Textural Tuesday ;o)
