Riding the current along a local river.
Grand Traverse County, MI
Pretty model with long red hair on beach and in sea cave. The tide was coming in and ultimately"urged" us out of the cave and onto ther sand--saltwater from a wave on a canon 5d mark ii is no fun.
She was modeling hoodies, shirts, and swimsuits.

I have been checking my private pond every morning and yesterday around noon Joachim stopped by to tell me the Hooded Mergansers had arrived, 2 males and 3 females so far. The afternoon light is not the best there but great fun to see them back!
Observed in Lower High Street, Stourbridge, on Saturday 4th May 2024.

The bright male Hoodie and one of his babies. The other Hooded Oriole family that had been coming to the feeder had a younger male that wasn't fully in adult plumage.
They are so skittish and even though I was inside on the other side of the room with the door open, they were wary. When they finally came in I was at an angle where my free standing feeder was in the foreground which is why it looks weird on the bottom left of the photo. Still happy to have these for the record!! And now the countdown begins to when they take off for their Winter destination, likely some time next month.

There can be a lot of excitement on the local lakes in winter, these male Mergansers were all vying for the attention of the female.

I decided to experiment with gray textures and a gray background. I just piled several on playing with blending modes, layers and adjustment layers with masks. The first time I ever saw one of these I was only about 8 feet away and I got an amazing look. It was in a seasonal creek near Redding, CA. You could see huge crawfish sitting everywhere on the bottom. Hoodies love crawfish so there was no where it was going to be spooked from that spot. What stunning markings on these playful divers!
