Driving around looking at Christmas lights I came across this memorial in Lyons Michigan, with it’s lovely Christmas display honoring those who sacrificed there lives during war, I looked at the names listed and could not believe the amount of nineteen year olds who had perished.

The ancient Greeks admired and honored Acheloos as a god, for his size, quantity of water and fertilizing power, but at the same time they respected and praised him, because his rapid flow could become destructive, when it was flooding.

Something different and very special to me, for today. It has been a stressful and kind of hectic week for me this one. Yet amidst my daily chaos, something wonderful happened and I wanted to share with you all my friends here in Flickr. I sent those two photos which most of you have already seen in my gallery (and thank you for that), to the 7th Greek Photographic Circuit, which is an annual international photographic contest, patronized by FIAP, PSA and GPU. Out of 1086 photographers, 73 countries and 12000 images in total, those two won a GPU award HM and an acceptance in their galleries respectively. Both are now included in their Salon "Mykonos"!
On my part I'd like to extend my thanks to the organizers and the jury for granting me with such an honor and pay my respect to them and all those who took part in the circuit!!! :-)

Every year I take tons of photos and I only publish a handful of them. So I have selected a few (at least one per month) and linked them to my experiences along 2014.
If you want to have a look, please follow this link to my blog:
The trees are starting to drop their leaves as the temperatures have finally cooled. It has been such a harsh year for the trees in my yard due to the heat and drought. We have no fruit on our apple or plum tree this year because they blossomed before the bees arrived. The season is transitioning and I am too.
All of the leaves are beautiful no matter if they are torn, spotted, starting to wither, and aren't perfect. I need to remember to to appreciate and honor my body with my freckles, scars, bumps and all of the changes that come with age.
Appreciate whatever season you are in, I know it's hard but someday you'll look back and see that you have always been better than you thought.
El mayor crimen es preferir la vida al honor y, por vivir la vida, perder la razón de vivir.

These photos are taken for my little girl of three years.
I was about to delete to all, but then I thought, "this is what we now called " fine arts," .....so in honor of the garbage , and to photos a girl three years, I decided to post them here! ! ! !
I hope you enjoy this small exhibition of "· fine art"

In honor of the souls lost so close to my home, let's please embrace each other a little more.
We are all too disconnected. We look for faults not similarities. We are not loving or compassionate enough. We have abandoned the village concept in favor 'every man for himself.' It's not every single one of us, but I find the gap between the next human being and me to be ever widening. I will hold a door open for 9 people and only one will even look up and notice. I smile and others often don't smile back. We are too busy. Too focused on owning things and being mad at politicians. Blame, anger, frustration, greed, anxiety, measuring success by the wrong things. This is a depressed place. We need to love more, accept more, give more, be accountable, kind and compassionate. It's in us. We have forgotten. I hope we can find within ourselves our light and start giving it away generously and with great hope.
This was taken at 11:30pm when the park rangers are gone. They will not allow tripods. This is a 2 min. exposure at f4, ISO 1600. Canon 5DMarkII. I am walking through the image with two Canon strobe flashes to illuminate the names on the wall.

I guess this is a van and not a truck but I am posting it for HTT anyway as I think it will give some people a kick. A good sort of kick.

"Among the human generations, among the current ages, they stand immovably, covering themselves with symbols-decorations, stone chimeras, imprinting in themselves the passions of the epochs. And when those distant future ones, emerging from the depths of the universe, one day approach our planet, the first thing that will surprise them will undoubtedly be... cathedrals! And they: extraterrestrials, will also begin to search for the secrets of proportions, the perfect harmony of thought and material, will search for formulas of eternal beauty that no one has yet solved!"
Oles Gonchar, "The Cathedral", 1968
In honor of Black History Month, I'm honoring Bessie Coleman.
Bessie Coleman was an early American civil aviator. She was the first African-American woman and first Native American to hold a pilot license. She earned her license from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale on June 15, 1921, and was the first Black person to earn an international pilot's license.
We Salute You Bessie!

Always solemn as we pause to remember the anniversary of September 11th this weekend. I am a firm believer that when we say we will not forget, it's a sacred promise we are obligated to keep. And so we shall. Last year I had the honor and privilege of photographing CSX's 911 Spirit In Service Locomotive inside of the B&O Railway museum roundhouse. A fitting and appropriate tribute.
