A large shopping bag representation advertises the opening of H.M.HOME at Brentwood Town Centre in Burnaby.

I had promised to post pictures of the little changes around the apartment, and eventhough I wanted to do so during the weekend, I found myself mostly in a mood to spend as much time as possible with my partner and friends, and while there were new pictures posted, they were still in the same fairytale mood of Friday's night last upload.

Already Tuesday and it seems to be the right time to talk about works and jobs, so here is a glimpse to what has been happening. A couple of more pictures are following, offering a clearer sight.

-> Sofa combination in "L" shape, floor lamp, mini shelf adjusted in the corner,

Black& white patterned pillow cover, coffeetable surface, bamboo bowl and wooven

round stool (Alseda) from Ikea.

-> White pillow with " loads of love" message in golden from h&m Home. Rather

a little kitchy, but hope that the overall outcome is still elegant and eclectic.

Have chosen golden instead of yellow, to bring the sunshiny feeling of summer and sun

inside.

-> My ever favorite summer hat from this summer's h&m Garden collection.

-> The round wooven bag is usually at the kitchen and holds our potatoes :)

-> A collection of vintage books from England, Germany & Spain.

-> The wallpaper hung on the wall like a huge papyrous dates back to 1965, is signed and was

produced by Albert Van Luit company.

-> The white, milky glass candleholder and the honey coloured vase are both vintage.

-> The giant wish bone, is a gift from my father.

-> Big and smaller paper boats made from vintage music sheets, to add a vacation feel while still

in town :)

Happy Saturday & remember, no matter what, do not let the sun go down on you!

...just a few thoughts {blogged at my usual place}

I love snow during winters in Germany ~ and it just so perfectly fits to living by the woods, where we've moved. Can you imagine... hot teas & reading favorite books and magazines, wrapped in a blanket... flokati warming your feet underneath?

After 14 weeks of living here & endless renovations, starting to discover the space's beauty is really nice. After all, there can be magic & beauty hidden everywhere.... we just shouldn't forget where we put our magic wands, shouldn't give up when all seems difficult, while remembering that in reality all that is needed is a vision, hard work & tons of patience... well, that might already be pretty much, but anyway, it's worth the effort ; )

...drying on a corner upstairs...

I really enjoy daily chores...

~ for the love of letters....

I think it's no secret that I adore handwriting...actually since I was a child...rather peculiar someone might say as little childrem are usually not to so attracted, neither inclined to this.

As a result I seem to have grown to adoring all home goods that involve writing in fonds of my preference, such as this one.

I beleive in the power of words....not that this specific cushion displays words of importance, still I have loved it for its reference to past times, displaying the ingredients of black flour.

The linen cushion measures 50x 50 and it belongs to the Spring/Summer home collection of H&M 2010.

The couch - Arild - is a three seater in white leather from Ikea. You may see it here

Crafitng and magazine reading....

Sunny Saturday morning at home...

Making more and more of those* paper boats...

At the sofa corner, among favorite patterned fabrics...

->on the left: cushion cover made from a kitchen towel from Habitat

->on the right: my ever favorite Ikea cushion featuring random circles

->Pink striped hamam towel (h&m home), which is also used as a light cover during cool nights at the veranda.

-> One of my very favorite summer bags, made by Adrianna, aka drika B, a simply brilliant desigher, whose creations can also be found on Etsy here:

a beautiful Sunday & a {post written on a Saturday} that marked the death of another talented & charismatic person... do you ever wonder why people are so destructive that they literally give up on their lives, especially when they are so blessed with all the possibilities?

"The Human soul... an abyss" ~ ever heard of that before perhaps?

I have no answers & no clues, still I think that through the attitude described in the title of my recent post & the post itself, one might be getting to live in a way that life, humans & all the wonderful possibilities each one carries are cherished.

...pronounced as if we were saying drinn driinn!

Since a cold was flirtling with me all day yesterday - tried hard to keep my chin up! -causing ugly headacahe, inabitlity to concertrate and tireness, setting the table for dinner and preparing it was the most creative part of the day. Sad but true.

Green salad is full with vitamin C, so some fresh came form the grocery store, hoping to give my organism a positive boost...and it did....I have today to completely recover, as we are leaving for a short trip, on a long weekend tomorrow...and the sun will be coming out in this part of the world! Yay : )!

I had promised to post pictures of the little changes around the apartment, and eventhough I wanted to do so during the weekend, I found myself mostly in a mood to spend as much time as possible with my partner and friends, and while there were new pictures posted, they were still in the same fairytale mood of Friday's night last upload.

...the carnations were bought the first day after returning from our holidays last Monday

(see comments section picture for details)....they are as fresh as new after 11 days!

....picture featuring our home's new cotton blanket in navy stripes and soft grey tones from h&m Home...no matter how warm - or ever hot! - it can get during the day...the temperatures are quite low at night....relaxing at the sofa requires at least a light cover

...perfectly happy with this one : )

...suddenly appeared the freshly aired grey, bed cover, as it rested on the chair for a while, before finding its way up to the bedroom again...couldn't help but being drown by all these drapes and curves flirting with the lines of the pink hamam towel, asked to play the role of a tablecloth for a while...

...even a birthday girl has to do the household jobs and the great thing about it, is finding the magic when doing it...

the wind blew fast .. Dedicated to today's elections ... ....................................................................................il vento soffiava veloce .. Ruccola salad:

-> fresh ruccola & slices of green peppers

(optional)

-> a bit of salt & pepper

-> a spoon of olive oil

-> variety of seeds warmed up in a pan,

until they start getting brown

-> freshly cut permezan cheese

-> dried burries ( which we did't have

this time)

-> and a tiny bit of balsamico

Totally green, healthy and tasty : )

Goodmorning and the happiest of Mondays to you all!

Cloudy and rainy weather has returned and the word summer seems like very far away since last night.

Days like that - and there are many in Germany! - am just happy to be in a home environment I adore and from where most of my work can be completed.

Don't let the picture and its title fool you, I'm and will be doing anything but lounging during the whole week!

Still, have enjoyed lots of such hours during this weekend, diving into favorite books... We decided to stay at home and our outings to be without a car, instead on foot or by bicycle, exploring new corners of our neighbourhood.

Less excitement than the previous weekend, but all is needed in life.

Next weekend will find us in August...I'm amazed at how fast time flies...

Wishes for us all to be making the best use of it.

All the love

Ivy xx

Today's lesson:

-> Arithmetic: 3 + 4 = 7

1 + 1 = 2 ( a very poweful team)

-> Geometry: circles.....more circles....circles in a square and vertical lines.

Be good...do your homework ; )

...the new huge linen pillow from h&m Home found its place on the white, plastic Ikea chaise long( seen better in the comments section)...one of my ever favorite designs...

....the tiles in our bathroom are white - thank god!....both on the walls and the floors. It's definetely not a design to die for, but they don't make mo want to close my eyes when I walk in..that's a relief , considering the fact that it's a rented apartment, where not many changes can or are allowed to be done.

The curtain, bathmat and some of the white towels are all fron H&M Spring 2009 collection. I love their cross design....

Here we are @ Apartment 44, my parents' home in Greece, where we also quite often visit and stay.

~ vintage wooden tables - two from a set of three, placed on both sides of the couch, as the limited place in front of it doesn't allow for a permanent coffee table to be put. (handmade to order @ my mother's wedding some 40 years ago), freshly painted white in a shabby chic look by a very competend local craftsman ( the same one who treated the dining table seen in the comments section)

~ weathered white wooden floor, put new last summer when this 20 year old apartment was bought, almost completely torn down and built from scratch under my designs and supervision

~ White ceramic pot from Ikea.

...I had these two Habitat tables in my latest apartment in Greece and could not fit them somewhere in the rest of the Penthouse. So, they ended up in the bathroom, where they live happily in front of the big window - covered with a wooden blind for privacy reasons! - hosting the towels ( all from Ikea, H&M home & Zara Home )and the two " Molger " trays.

...since we use daily paper napkins, the cotton napkins served as a table runner, istead of remaining unsed in the drawer...loving the pop of the numbers next to the wooven placemats :)

-> cotton napkins with green numbers: h&m home

-> wooven placemats: just form a shop in Wiesbaden

-> wooden napkin rings, present from lovely Madhu from Malaysia

-> plates: Ikea

-> forks & knives: Ikea

-> white paper napkins: Ikea

-> leather coasters: Habitat

-> glass salad bowl: Ikea

-> mini sheep form : €1 shop in the neighbouhood

...no...dreamy it's not....but it serves its purpose for the time being.

- simplicity & natural tones in the bedroom

- brown, beige, light grey and white of course...

Stores:

- Habitat for the bed,

- Ikea for the bed linens ( sheet and pillowcases), the set of bedside tables and lamp

- h&m Home for the light, cotton duvet cover.

....catch myself often to be...chasing light, while doing various jobs around the house....changing sheets, folding laundry to be eventually ironed...love to be there where the light is...

....these are almost SOOC, except for tiniest corrections and taken just before my trip to Greece two weeks ago...summer seems to have gone away since yesterday and am missing the sunshine....not the heat, but the sun....oh come again, will you?

...have to become a domestic goddess for the rest couple of hours and then prepare things for the shop again...

I have returned a little tanned from the trip to the Netherlands and am rather pleased for that :)

Yesterday's outfit to go grocery shopping:

1) Cotton top in smoky grey, with ruffles ( h&m - Spring collection 2010 - Munich)

2) Tracksuit bottoms in black cotton ( h&m - Spring collection 2009 - Mainz )

3) Beige, leather flats ( Pull & Bear - Summer collection 2007 - Athens, Greece)

4) Cotton grocery,reusable & washable bag ( h&m Home, Spring 2009)

5) Wooden bangle ( Pull&Bear - Autumn 2007 - Athens, Greece )

The bed spread is also cotton and was as well found at h&m Home last Spring.

...lazing and sunbathing at the veranda,

...processing some pictures,

...photographing oldtimer cars just across the road from home*,

...preparing for a barbeque...

...until Germany won! Oh my!...at least it lasted relatively shortly....but in any case congratulations to Germany!

...can you notice a German flag somewhere in the picture?
