The HMCS Saskatoon (nearest) and the HMCS Whitehorse. Two patrol boats whose prime purpose is coastal interdiction and training. They normally would not leave the west coast, however, they might be called upon to serve in the Persian Gulf or in the Indian Ocean as that theatre heats up. There is a guard on the gang plank armed with a FNFAL rifle to repel all photographers. In the background is Stanley Park and the North Shore Mountains of North Vancouver.
They were escorting the French fregate FS Prairial.

Two Canadian patrol boats, representing 1/8th of our navy. Just kidding, but not that far off. They are docked at the cruise ship terminal (Canada Place) in Vancouver BC as part of joint Canada-France exercises. The two combined are dwarfed by the French frigate, the FS Prairial which is docked to the left.
Another photo of these two. And The Saskatoon as it was coming into port yesterday.
HMCS SASKATOON is the tenth of the twelve MCDV. HMCS SASKATOON is the second warship to be proudly named after the City of Saskatoon, HMCS SASKATOON was commissioned into Her Majesty's service on December 5, 1998,
