This summer there were not too many days like this in Switzerland - beautiful weather and perfect hiking conditions. This time between Frutigen and Adelboden, Bernese Oberland.

This is located near the quite moderate sized town of Ithaca NY a park that mostly caters to local regional hikers from the lack of any out of state license plates I saw in the parking area. The hike to these falls was any easy hike for anyone in decent physical condition and was worth the five hours of putting the pedal to the metal for me to get there. The falls drop 115 feet and there is a viewing area at the base of the falls you can get to. This park was named after Robert H Treman a wealthy businessman and conservationist who bought the land and just a few years later donated the land to state as a park in 1920.

I started in the morning, but it was long and hot throughout the day.

I don't usually make such big mistakes, but this time I ran out of water. That was why I had to turn around and walk back....

But, this path along the coast was lush, wild and beautiful

- so I want to go back some day. Then I want to walk much further and bring enough water with me 😊

Hiking at Kerlingarfjöll is a rewarding experience. We got lost for the first time hiking, away from the planned trial, reached to glacier direction, the strong wind and cold weather almost killed us although I wore snow pants and thin down jacket. Here are some tips for hikers at Kerlingarfjöll:

-Research and Plan: research the trails, weather conditions, and any potential hazards in the area.

-Check Weather Conditions: Icelandic weather can be unpredictable. Be prepared for sudden changes in weather and pack appropriate clothing and gear.

-Carry Essential Gear: a sturdy backpack, hiking boots, extra clothing layers, GPS device, food and water.

-Stay on Marked Trails: Stick to marked trails and avoid venturing off into unmarked areas, as it can be easy to get lost in the wilderness.

-Be Mindful of Wildlife: While wildlife encounters are rare in Kerlingarfjöll. Respect the natural habitat and keep a safe distance from any animals you may encounter.

Hiking in Kerlingarfjöll offers a combination of geothermal wonders, colorful landscapes, remote wilderness, and stunning views, making it a special and memorable experience for outdoor enthusiasts.

Have a wonderful weekend my Flicker friends!

I already posted www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/31240829477/in/datepo... what was the end view of my hike to Munken. This is in the beginning of the hike, where I came from sea level (somewhere on the left of the picture) and this is after ca 300 meters climbing. The magnificent view here was only the beginning of ridiculously many wonderful shots from which it is hard to choose. More to follow!

Further more you can see that it is still early in spring, where the green grass is just starting to awake.

Whilst hiking around lake Braies in Italy in Autumn I got this wonderful view through the trees of the lake and the reflection of bright autumn colours in the water, like a magnificent painting.

Hiking in the woods in Austrian, I came across this lonely mill. The noisy stream plunging down flowing over moss covered rocks through the forest down the rolling hills of the Austrian countryside.

Kleine Runde um Unterjoch

Frühsommer am Höllbach

We hiked at Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Junction, Arizona last week. The park is in the Superstition Mountains which have long been rumored to have rich veins of gold. Some beautiful views and even a few wildflowers.

Hiking on petrified sandstone. Temperatures in 60-70s!

I went on a hiking tour with friends yesterday, this is something we do at least twice a year. Yesterday's hike was rather short, only about 4 hours, but it was a difficult one. The tour we chose is tricky even under the best conditions but due to the recent rain the ground was wet, muddy and slippery. I only took a few photos because most of the time I was busy trying to stay on my feet, to avoid falling into the stream or to break my bones.

Höllbachrunde im Winter

Seen from far above, an Arizona Central train crawls along the mountainside with the Verde river running parallel. This is the final mile before the train reaches Clarkdale, where the cement empties will be shoved up to the plant for loading. Several defining aspects of this area's Arizona landscape can be seen here, and it's quite a breathtaking view even with the train being a little distant. The hike to this spot is quite crazy, but I'm certainly pleased with the results!
