Last Sunday, we had another fabulous day out on the moors - this time choosing a circular route starting from Fernworthy forest to visit not one, not two but three stone circles, one of which is even a double stone circle! I took this photo after we spent some time at the ruined Teignhead farm (picture to follow). I love the open landscape in that area and the weather helped to make it a brilliant day out!

I made a video of the entire walk: youtu.be/UsHrlc5r8k4

One from last year and a trip to my pals hide.

Second image in a small series

from a walk in the forest at equinox

(or near enough ;-)

At the end of the week I'll take a short break from flickr.

My brushes are calling...

and I'm going to need some time to remember how to paint ;-)

I'll load the series before I go... a few more than my usual...

so please feel free with comments or with silence.

Happy equinox :-)

Looking out from one of the viewing ports at the Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide. There are small islands, rocky islets revealed at low tide. Seals haul out and kip on the rocks, herons fly in to fish. We saw sea eagles and ottters nearby last week, but not today: just seals and herons. The views are beautiful even without sunshine, and it is so calm and quiet there. You could hear a fly fart.

I heard that you were back in town

It's been a hot minute since me and you were hangin' out

Yeah we had that crazy kind of chemistry

Where you get burned, don't learn, don't care, just reach for another match and gasoline

Yeah knock knock, here you come a knockin' on my door

But you're gonna have to wait on the porch

Better hide the wine

And get it gone

I better hide every one of them records that turn me on (lock 'um up, lock 'um up)

Turn up the lights

And kill the mood

Because baby I just don't trust myself with you

I better hide the wine

Knock knock, here you come a knockin' on my door

But you're gonna have to wait another minute on the porch

Oh no, no, it's a dangerous thing pouring alcohol on an old flame

With only a few hours to visit Mt Rainier National Park, I found myself being thwarted at nearly every turn by the atmospheric conditions around the mountain. Warm temperatures combined with upper level moisture to create a constantly building and shifting shroud of clouds around the peak.

Patience paid off, somewhat, by revealing this relatively unobscured view from the pull-out just above Stevens Canyon. I waited here for about 45 minutes to get a clear shot, and this was as good as I could get. Next time, I'll devote more time to this park. I was surprised by how much there is of interest beyond the iconic titular peak, with the Tatoosh Range mountains, the lush cedar forests, and the flower covered plains to the northeast. More than a day trip, to be certain!

If you look really closely, you can barely make out the Hermit Crab hiding in this shell. We were boating near New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and stopped on an island at low tide. Shells were everywhere, and I don't think I found more than one or two that did not have a crab in them.

…….Went for a wander to Aqualate Mere today - all quiet in the hide AND on the mere. A grey dull day as you can see as well, including a some light rain too. After much deliberation this is the chosen #061 taken on my phone in Apple RAW & edited in Lightroom. Alan:-)

My second spiral staircase shot from London and one I've been wanting to photograph since I first saw it.

Situated in Hide restaurant in Piccadilly this gorgeous wooden staircase is probably my new favourite in the city.

I'd booked a table here for breakfast with Andrea and after a nice but expensive meal, we asked the staff if they would mind us getting a few shots, which they were happy for us to do.

As the restaurant was quiet we spent about 10 minutes getting various compositions before heading off on another day of photography.

I have three or four shots from here but I'll save the others for another time.

This little squirrel seemed to be playing hide-and-seek! :-)) Hiding in an old stump and looking out of it, she did it with such incredible speed that this was the only photo I managed to take! 😊

Parts of the Inokashira park are covered with cedar trees. Here is the Sun, peeking through the crowded cedar trees, and its rays hitting the grass in streaks.

I've taken my a6300 under water with a super cheap housing a few times now. Always with exceptionally poor results. I'm not blaming the housing mind you, poor dive skills and poor eye sight have a lot to do with it.

Anyway, I finally got a GoPro to make life underwater easier. White the quality might not be up to pixel-peeping standards, I thought this shot was kind of fun.

Away for a while. See you!

[Childhood Series]

"Children do live in fantasy and reality; they move back and forth very easily in a way we no longer remember how to do." Maurice Sendak

Can you hear them? The children, I mean. Laughing, yelling, running through the field with nary a care, the freedom of childhood, before the responsibility of chores, hard work, tough times.
