PTM Challenge: Heroic
125 participants started from the Badstrand in Vlissingen on Saturday 20 August 2022 . Once in the water, they had to deal with strong waves…
The heroic swim between Vlissingen and Breskens was last held in 2014. And that was the first time in fifty years.
Between 1930 and 1964, the swimming race for the Scheldt Cup was held regularly, but that stopped because shipping traffic on the Western Scheldt became too busy.
It is quite a logistical operation to allow all those water rats to swim safely to the other side. Shipping (including to and from Antwerp) is not allowed to pass for two hours.
The distance over the Western Scheldt is about six kilometers.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic odyssey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

Been busy traveling and shooting landscapes and working on my books The Golden Hero's Odyssey about the golden rectangle and divine proportion I use in a lot of my compositions! Also working on my physics book on Dynamic Dimensions Theory! The equation d4/dt=ic is on a lot of the 45surf swimsuit and shirts and all! :)

Besides its heroic history Mesologi is a town with huge photographic interest. Its salt lake, salt plains, characteristic boats and the fishermen's huts right into the water make it a place you could spend countless mornings and dusks, basking in its beauty.
What I liked about this hut is that the pier leading to it was completely detached from the land. I chose to go for a long exposure on this one cause I wanted the reflection perfectly formed and completely unbroken to give the illusion of a construction balanced in mid air, floating in space and time.

The zion subway and narrows are amazing for fine art photography! Especially in the autumn and winter! Loved shootng the fall colors there this year, and returning a couple more times to capture the autumn leaves as they peaked at all the different elevations!
Yes I have a Ph.D. in physics! I worked on phototranistors and photodiodes as well as an artificial retina for the blind. :)

View your artistic mission into photography as an epic odyssey of heroic poetry! Take it from Homer in Homer's Odyssey: "Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home; but do what he might he could not save his men, for they perished through their own sheer folly in eating the cattle of the Sun-god Hyperion; so the god prevented them from ever reaching home. Tell me, too, about all these things, O daughter of Jove, from whatsoever source you may know them. " --Samuel Butler Translation of Homer's Odyssey

An important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII is back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!

Here's the setup for the "Heroic Bird" shot. The only additional light I used to make this shot was a hand held YN560 pointed at the ceiling directly over the tripod mounted camera. The same Yongnuo RF-603N that triggered the handheld flash also fired the two you see in this shot.
I've now included enough setup shots that I decided to create of Set of them, which you can see here if you find the pictures helpful. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157642517882554/

Escaped from the sinking island of Atlantis, the Atlanteans look for a new home under the guidance of their new leader, Kastor. These crack soldiers are the last of once-great city. Can they rebuild their civilization?
These are the Atlantean human infantry units from the the legendary Age of Mythology franchise (Titans Expansion)! As a faction, the Atlanteans are all about quality over quantity. Their workers are more efficient than other cultures' and their infantry have the option to become heroes, giving them an attack bonus against myth units. Also, their god powers can be used three times, instead of just once. Atlantean units are more expensive than other cultures' and count for more population. So, choose your building queues wisely!

As the heroic leader of the Autobots, there is nothing he won't do to protect those under his charge. Strong, wise, compassionate, he would lay down his life for those he has sworn to protect.
